Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!
It was an exciting day for my mom and I at the Western Idaho Fair. We both earned ribbons on our entries — mine in photography and my mom’s in quilting (Senior Division). Last year was my first year competing and with the maximum number of three entries per person, I took home three Honorable Mentions so was thrilled. This year I was so excited to have earned higher scores. The following won a First Place ribbon in the “Other” category.
The next one of Connor, Ella, and Landon won a Second Place ribbon in the category called “Children-Humor: Things that Make You Laugh.” I laughed the first time I saw it on my camera after taking it this Easter and knew then I would be entering it in the Fair.
And this one of Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach took a Fourth Place ribbon in the “Seascapes” category. The winning photo was also a photo of Haystack Rock so congratulations Haystack, you photogenic rock you! You rock!
My mom is always making quilts and entered one in the Fair for the first time — one she made for me this past fall. I bought the fabric and she surprised me by giving me the quilt! It was entered it in the Senior Division Category called “Quilts made entirely by hand with no machine stitching” and she took First Place! I was beyond excited walking into the building and seeing hers hanging there so proud right up at the front. The flowers are appliqued and it’s just a fun crazy quilt. Congratulations MOM! You so deserved this! Can’t wait to see what you enter next year! As an update to this post, when I picked up the quilt after the Fair was over, I was excited to see my mom had won a random drawing of all First Place winners – she won another $10 on top of her First Place prize.
