Milt and Maxine – Home on the Range

Milt and Maxine just recently celebrated sixty years. 60. As in a six + a zero. As in 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, 20, 40, 60 years of marriage! As in a long time! Wow, seriously people, how many couples do you know that have been married 60 years? I’ve been fortunate to know a […]

OH Mary! These are awesome pictures of the folks! You captured them so well, love all the places you took their pictures, you certainly have an eye for detail and we will forever be in your debt for taking these of Milt and Max! Loved the story line too, so sweet. Thank you for taking the time to make a memory for the kids and grandkids and greats too. Love you!

jennessjohnston2 - August 30, 2011 - 7:23 PM

Mary,
Tears were in my eyes with the first picture. Many dear memories have been made at Grandma and Grandpa Grapes (as Lily calls him) place and with my wonderful Grandparents. The picture are beautiful!!!! Thanks for capturing all the stories and love.

lsj4157 - August 30, 2011 - 8:18 PM

Mary, thank you, thank you, thank you to you and to your able assistant Mikey. They turned out so well. It just wouldn’t have been right to have their photos done in a studio. This was perfect and, as always, you ROCK!!! Your blog really captured their personalities and the pictures captured their spirits. They were such troopers and did everything you asked and I’m so glad we have some beautiful photos to commemorate their sixty years together. What a blessing to our family.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 30, 2011 - 8:49 PM

All right you three, you made my day! I was in the grocery store when Mike called so when I hung up I checked my messages and got yours Roberta. Have to say I got a little (tiny bit) misty-eyed. Then later Jenness, then Linda. I’m touched knowing you are touched. You have a legacy up on “the mountain” and it’s nice to have memories — I know that more than anyone. Of course, you already have the memories, but you know what I mean. I really, really enjoyed myself so there you go. I’ve even gotten over the fact that the sun came out as soon as M & M walked into the house! And hey, anybody with the signa M & M have to be some pretty great people, right!

Roberta Johnston - August 31, 2011 - 7:32 PM

Mary,
I hope you have facebook and can read all the wonderful responses to the pictures you took of the folks! Everyone is so impressed with your work, your blog and your wit! The Lord has truly blessed you with your talent and you are blessing so many others in the process, thank you again sweetie!

Kathy Bettger - August 31, 2011 - 8:14 PM

Again, on top of things, Mary. Wow! These are great. I came in through the FB route, so the news is circulating there. You have touched more lives with your beautiful stories & pix. Keep it up.

Kathy

Laura Higgs - September 2, 2011 - 12:47 AM

beautiful. May we all be so blessed.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - September 5, 2011 - 2:53 PM

Just got home from camping to see your sweet note. I am so grateful for you and Linda who have both told me FB is getting the comments. That is so cool and I am happy for Milt and Maxine because it reflects back to them. They were awesome! I do not have FB (can you believe someone on the planet does NOT have it!) so Linda said she would track some comments for me. How fun! Thank you again Roberta for reading and commenting. It has certainly meant something to me.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - September 5, 2011 - 2:56 PM

Seriously, how cool is that! Thank you Kathy for letting me know. Andy and Lauren and Milt and Maxine have created some nice hits to my blog which is always fun to see. I know it is the people that the blog is about that is creating the stir and not me, but fun for me to see people enjoy it.

Oh my Gosh Mary….what a surprise! I love viewing your photos, but never expected to log on and see me. When you can’t hide all that red-hair and freckles…..think of something nice to go with, and you did! Very sweet! Thank you!! ~Redhead

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 10, 2011 - 8:22 PM

So that’s what it takes to get my friend to post her first official comment on my blog. Yippee! I loved them, and you, and your hair, and happy you loved the surprise. I think your hair is gor-geous! Love, the Redhead’s friend.

Brenda Tennessee - August 11, 2011 - 3:26 PM

Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog. Hope you come back. I love your site. Your friend is beautiful. I love the light hitting her hair on the second one. Oh to have that much hair.I have hair envy.

Jake and Katie's Wedding

Congratulations to the family cause another Mouser just got hitched! Jacob, Mark and Vickie’s oldest, just married his true love, Katie Sacht, and the wedding couldn’t have been more beautiful. They married at Sawtooth Winery in Nampa, and while it was a long drive getting there, it was a drive that was definitely worth it in […]

Kathy Grover - August 3, 2011 - 11:46 PM

Looking at those pictures just made my day (or night as the case may be.) There was a lot of joy, family togetherness, happiness in the presence of dear friends, communion with the saints that have gone on before and hope for the future in the faces of those darling kids. Your feel for composition helps; I’m a big fan of technical skills and boy are your skills developed. But the joy in the pictures comes through so strong that I couldn’t help from feeling joy myself.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 4, 2011 - 3:07 AM

Well thank you Kathy! Love to hear that emotion is coming through … there was alot of it! 🙂

Cathie Alonzo - August 4, 2011 - 7:55 AM

I always love your commentaries, Mary. Great photos, too. What a great looking bunch of folks!

vickie mouser - August 4, 2011 - 7:59 AM

(We couldn’t agree with you more Kathy) Mary you have once again told a beatiful story in your pictures. Thank you for sharing your talent with those around you. We are so thankful for you. You capture such precious momements through your camera lens. We love you and always look forward to seeing what you have captured in the pictures you take. Keep up the great work. Thank you for all the time you put in. Last but not least, are those just the cutest grandbabies you have ever seen. How can you not be filled with joy looking at those precious ones. You are blessed.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 4, 2011 - 1:10 PM

Cathie, as always, thanks for the encouragement.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 4, 2011 - 1:12 PM

Very appreciative of your comments Vickie. I’m so glad you loved them altho how can you not look at ANY kind of picture of your baby on his wedding day and not think they are wonderful! He was, they are, and can you even believe you have a married son. Geez, when did we get this old?

Your Man - August 6, 2011 - 8:06 AM

Wow, you always seem to capture a moment or special pic . Only wish you were in more of the pic. Will have to work on that! Love you always.

DA Sacht - August 6, 2011 - 10:02 AM

Thank you, Mary, for capturing the sweet and fun spirit of Kate and Jake’s wedding through your pictures. The pictures are beautiful, and your way with words helps to relive the special evening. I appreciate your time in helping to preserve the memories made on their wedding day. Kate picked a wonderful family to marry into when she picked Jacob!

Mary Bailey - August 8, 2011 - 6:06 PM

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 10, 2011 - 3:15 PM

Thank you Rebecca. The wedding was at 7:30 pm so light was at it’s best. I wish I could have stolen Jake and Katie away into the grape fields for some shots in the late evening light … but they had a party to attend!

Tara - August 10, 2011 - 7:39 PM

Cathie, thanks for your sweet comments and I hope the B & G see it because they are just what you say. Thanks again for the wonderful time spent with you in Yelm — a beautiful place for sure. Love ya, Mary

Kathy Bettger - August 1, 2011 - 6:46 AM

Oh, Mary! What a special thing for you to do. I have read the whole thing and poured over the photos 3 times now. Lauren’s use of many varied colors make the photos really pop. We now have your narrative as a permanent record. I am so glad you and Mike were a part of this day.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 1, 2011 - 7:40 AM

Thanks Kathy, I loved doing this post in every way. I agree with you in that Laura’s color choices — and that beautiful sunshine — worked together so well!

Kay Lynn Brown - August 1, 2011 - 6:24 PM

Mary…WOW! These photos captured all of the sweetness and magic of that day. I love the picture of my brother, too! 🙂 Thank you for sharing! I enjoyed seeing you and Mike!

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 1, 2011 - 7:49 PM

Thank you Kay Lynn! Got some pics of the rest of the family too but couldn’t put everything on there. I appreciated you viewing and for your comments. Mary

Kathy Grover - August 1, 2011 - 9:10 PM

My vote for favorite picture is the one with the bride and groom and moms framed by the colorful fabric flowers. The flowers were connected and the people were connected. It made me feel connected even though I wasn’t there.

straitcrzy - August 1, 2011 - 10:05 PM

I am Lauren’s Aunt Mary. Thank you so much for sharing these pictures. I am going to put them on facebook so everyone can enjoy them. You did a great job. They had the most beautiful wedding.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 2, 2011 - 5:32 AM

Thank you Mary, I wish I could put a face to the name … might have met you but there were lots of wonderful people at that wedding!

Thank you so much for sharing…wonderful pictures…

Janet Spies - August 2, 2011 - 1:07 PM

You can see Mary’s face in the 10th black and white photo above. And to her left, you will see Lauren’s Aunt Carol. They are toasting the bride and groom.

Beautiful pictures, beautiful people and beautiful day!! I enjoyed your post immensely.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 2, 2011 - 1:22 PM

And thank you Barbara for taking the time to tell me. Fabulous wedding you had there!

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 2, 2011 - 1:24 PM

Janet, thank you for pointing Mary and Carol out. I felt badly that I slighted Lauren’s family in this post since I knew the Bettger side so well. Thanks for taking the time to read my post and more importantly for commenting. Us bloggers love that you know. (Wink.) Mary

justleesha - August 3, 2011 - 6:41 PM

I love all these! Soooo pretty! What a wonderful theme and setting for a wedding! Makes the church and rented hall I had for my wedding look pretty darn shabby! 🙂

So, I was looking through your posts today and noticed a BSU hat on your grandson and it got me wondering…. do you live in Idaho??

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 3, 2011 - 6:49 PM

Yes, we live in Boise. And you? I think I read one time … was it Utah? If you want to see BSU pics and see how crazy fans can be, go to: http://fairlycandid.wordpress.com/2010/11/09/get-your-game-face-on/

NeckBeard - August 5, 2011 - 1:12 PM

Mary,
These are incredible. Thank you so much for posting these photos and your wonderful narrative. It was so great to have you and Mike there. I love you guys so much. Lauren wants us to print this out and put it in our wedding journal. I said, only after one important correction, I worked at Mouser Machine for 3 summers. Not just one. 🙂

love,
Andy

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 5, 2011 - 3:39 PM

Hi Andy, thank you for commenting from your “tanned” state no doubt after returning from Jamaica. I’m sure you had a fabulous time. I will get that correction made immediately to give you credit for working at the Shop three years … most people didn’t stick it out so long with the hard labor Gramps expected! Mike didn’t catch the mistake either — young mind vs old mind — you’ll win every time! Love, Mary

Jeri Dunne - August 12, 2011 - 9:22 AM

Megan, Robby, and Sydney

A big thank you to my daughter for being so agreeable as to go “urban” with their family portraits and to dress exactly as I wanted them to — with a mix-match of colors that “don’t have to match but just have to go” — as infamously said by Clinton Kelly and Stacey London of […]

AMAZING pictures and blogging! Thank you so much Mary!
What a treasure to have. It was a fun day, and I am so glad that we got to share it with our friends and family. Whose next?

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - April 13, 2011 - 12:10 PM

Thanks Aubrey, and you know I love having everyone here too! And you know your mom is going to miss you guys when you move, right? At least you’ll live fairly close and SW air can have them there in a jiffy if needed. Today is a good day. Smile. Mary

An Old and New Kind of Love (Ken and Kathy)

The date was July 3, 1976 — the day before the Bicentennial. Mike and I had been married almost one year and we were at Cathedral Pines Family Camp in Sun Valley where we met Ken. He had just moved to Twin Falls from Northern Ohio (where incidentily Kathy’s family had lived for about 10 years […]

Nice pictures! Hard to say which is my favorite. I like the one on the balcony with the white sky background. But I also like the black and white – oh and the sepia toned too! Heck – they are all great!

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - March 1, 2011 - 7:12 AM

Kathy sent me this comment by e-mail and I told her I was posting it … it was too sweet not too (or else I am too vain), but either way, thank you Kathy … so sweet. It was a beautiful journey for me to get to read and write about all my friends and their love for each other. She writes:

“I looked at the blog today and I think you put way too many pictures of us up, but oh my gosh are they beautiful. That was a very fun experience for me and I really did not mind that I was freezing cold. I just cozied up to Ken. And when I looked at the camera, I pretended I was looking through the camera at you, so it was you I was smiling at, thinking about the kind of person you are, and that made me smile. You are an inspirational friend. I just read somewhere that having a good social network adds 3.7 years to your life, so I guess this weekend must have added a year. Your friend, Kathy”

That last comment made me laugh considering the wonderful post V-Day party we just had at Jim and Diane’s.

botut - March 2, 2011 - 10:43 AM

I hate getting pictures taken but love to take them. I’ll have to remember Kathy’s trick (if I know the photographer!)

I laughed at the “walk…in the dark…off the trail…with branches whipping in her face” part! Donnie has done the same thing to me.

Kathy Sereduk - March 4, 2011 - 3:25 PM

What a beautiful story! I think Mom and Grandma played matchmaker. I loved the pictures. The love and friendship that Kathy & Ken share really showed through them. How fun to take a trip down memory lane with them. We have shared many adventures together, and hope we get to add to those memories as we all grow older together.

Boy Meets Girl (Jim and Diane)

This is a love story of boy meets girl. This is his story. The year was 1969. It was the 8th grade year. Boy was at a basketball tournament with friends. He sees girl for the first time as she walks up the stairway to exit the game. He asks his friends who the girl is. They reply. […]

This comment was left on the Page entitled “About Me” but I wanted to add it here for Jim and Diane to see. (Thank you btw, Gail, for such nice comments.) Mary

It was from Gail Kennedy and read: You did such a fabulous job capturing the love I have always seen in my forever friends, Diane and Jim. I am glad you have been encouraged in the art of photography – I think you have a God given talent. Thank you for posting such a wonderful story of two very special people!

Kathy Jones - March 1, 2011 - 7:06 AM

Beautiful pictures of beautiful people! What a great setting! It embodies who Jim and Diane are – down to earth and so full of life! And I always enjoy hearing about “his” story of Boy Meets Girl “sigh”…

Debbie - March 3, 2011 - 12:53 PM

A Together Kind of Love (Jim and Kathy)

Imagine a house in the mountains surrounded by some acreage, with a fence and a gate, lots of well cared for dogs and cats, and a river or stream near by. Imagine, if you will, a sign on the gate. What might it read? I think it would simply read “Heaven on earth found here.” […]

That’s BIG that you say that because of all my friends, Kathy hates the camera most. The only other person that hates the camera more is my own dear mom. I’m trying [unsuccessfully] to convert her.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - February 22, 2011 - 12:26 AM
