My 100th Post – "BIG" Family News

It’s my 100th post and I’m loud and I’m proud so what better way to celebrate it than to share with those who haven’t heard yet that the hubs and I are going to be a Gramma/Grampa again! MJ is going to be a BIG BROTHER come April! I like to say I’m going to […]

You are right Mary, life at this stage is magical. Not because we are older, but because we have had the blessing of being witness to the cycle of life to see the beauty, the pain, the happiness, the sorrow, the God-moments in the unfolding of our families in progress. It doesn’t hurt to be wiser either. Watching our children and grandchildren grow and thrive is a blessing that can hardly be described.

LoraLee - September 20, 2011 - 10:06 PM

Well, you just made my day! It had been a long day and I thought I had better check emails in case there was something I needed to take action on. I would really rather have just gone to bed. BUT I see this email from Mary Mouser that I can never resist. And there is the sweetest, most exciting news of two babies AGAIN!!!! Oh, you guys, if this isn’t the most unbelievable news ever! How fun for those sweet kids to get to go through this together. I loved the pictures and the narrative as always was wonderful. CONGRATULATIONS to all of you and thanks for letting us be in on the fun!!!!
Love to each of you!
LoraLee and Lee

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - September 21, 2011 - 4:42 AM

Who would have guessed when I took the “Magical” picture that it would have taken on such meaning. I sometimes still can’t stop shaking my head while smiling about this new news. I guess if you did it with three grandbabies so close in age, we’ll survive too, right? You did, survive, right Linda? I mean some days I do wonder about my friend. Ha! Love ya!

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - September 21, 2011 - 4:46 AM

Well if my post made your day, then know your comment made mine! The girls are tired and not feeling so good, but they always have a smile on their faces. Both of their pregnancies so far are much different than the first so could this mean reverse sexes this time? Time will tell! Love you guys.

Megan - September 21, 2011 - 7:51 AM

It was so fun to relive those two moments through your commentary and all the fun pictures! I was wondering when we were going to get to see the fair pictures!!! 🙂

Linda Johnston - September 21, 2011 - 8:36 AM

Yes, Mary, I did survive three grandbabies within a short time. Not to say I did so unscathed, I once volunteered myself and Jenness to watch the almost one year olds as well as the three older kids (that term is relative as they were all preschoolers) while everyone else went hunting for the day–OH MY, what WAS I thinking? However, I have to say that we did a fine job and all babies and their siblings came through the experience fed, diapered, napped, snuggled (when they’d let me) and loved. I know you well Mary, you will not only survive–you will thrive on these precioius little grandbabies!! Contrats to the whole family!

Aubrey - September 21, 2011 - 5:14 PM

Yeah!!!! So cool, I just love God’s timing with all of this, He is so good. I also think Megan could pass as one of those teenage kids on the rides & love that Matt & Robby are dressed alike. (they must have planned that ;- )) Congrats Grandma, “Guy” !

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - September 21, 2011 - 5:27 PM

Awww, how sweet that you remembered MJ used to call me Guy. That changed after about six weeks … one day he just called me Gramma and it’s been that way every since. Kids are so funny, but then you know that. Wink.

Megan - September 21, 2011 - 9:08 PM

P.S. You need to watch the video we took of you when we handed you the picture…border line ridiculous how long it took you to figure it out! Danielle is snickering in the background and Dad is already crying.

P.P.S. My favorite picture is the one of Robby on the swing. Man, I married a cutie!

Your Man - September 22, 2011 - 4:15 PM

What a great 100 post! OUR kids and grandkids are magical just like their grandma. You always do a fantastic job on this blog and every asset of our lives.. Love you much.

Lori - September 27, 2011 - 5:16 PM

We’re SO excited for you Mary!! Twice as happy!

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - September 28, 2011 - 3:42 PM

Thank you Lori! It’s pretty darn exciting for sure. I had so much fun at Ella’s party. Wow, you guys really knocked yourself out and I can’t wait to work on her photos. She is such a doll in every way.

Fun Time Summer Time With the Ones I Love

I am having a blast this summer with my grandbabies! And in case you were wondering … no, I don’t always have a camera in their space or face (gol, what do you think I am — obsessive or something? Do not answer that) … but I figure since they are oblivious to it most of the time, why shouldn’t I get these […]

Megan - August 15, 2011 - 8:36 AM

I’m not even sure where to start…I had such a delightful time reading this, crying some, laughing others and completely having my heart overwhelmed with love, joy and delight. You captured their personalities in the sweetest of ways, and I loved seeing all of the pictures that I’ve seen you snap, but haven’t SEEN. I’m not even going to start in on favorites, because there were too many- but I did love how you captured her coming out of the water when Robby dunked her.

Thanks for all you do- the snapshots, editing, bubbles, sleepovers, 2-kid putdowns, clothes and more. You spoil us all. Love you!

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 15, 2011 - 11:26 AM

Thanks for your sweet comments Meg. I had such fun pouring over all my pics seeing which ones would make the blog cut. It got a bit long (ya think?!). MOM XXO

Your Man - August 15, 2011 - 5:34 PM

Wow, I think I’m even becoming more of a softy than I thought. What great pics and moments that will never be forgotten. You are the greatest!!!!! Love

Megan - August 17, 2011 - 6:11 AM

Oops…forgot to mention how much I loved the Grampa/Sydney bubbly dialogue. PERFECTLY put!

Aubrey Archuleta - August 19, 2011 - 8:42 AM

So great, I just l.o.v.e.d. every bit of this post! Thanks for such a fun perspective on summa time with toddlers. Love the boobies comment & the bubble story, so entertaining, as we have all been there!

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 19, 2011 - 9:02 AM

Thank you Aubrey, I realize it was long so happy that you actually took the time to read the darn thing! It just kept growing and growing and you know how many pictures were “left behind” for me to wonder what to do with. My camera is a magnet to these kids.

Ali C - August 19, 2011 - 11:57 AM

Thanks for your kind words on my blog! Those are some seriously adorable grandbabies you have there! You can see your love in every image!

Megan, Robby, and Sydney

A big thank you to my daughter for being so agreeable as to go “urban” with their family portraits and to dress exactly as I wanted them to — with a mix-match of colors that “don’t have to match but just have to go” — as infamously said by Clinton Kelly and Stacey London of […]

Linda - June 15, 2011 - 8:56 PM

What fun pictures–I loved, loved, loved all the bring colors and of course your beautiful family. I think your best work is of the ones you love.

Laura Higgs - June 15, 2011 - 10:47 PM

Loved them. I am admittedly jealous of the family pics and regret that I was fully unaware of your talents during any of your visits! Keep up the great work.

Your Man - June 16, 2011 - 4:57 PM

There is only 1 thing that could make them better. Guess who?

Kathy Jones - June 16, 2011 - 5:18 PM

Love the photos – they are really such a perfect family. Long, lean, and beautiful! I loved the bright colors!!! The photos were so sharp and clean and made you want to just keep staring at them! Great job!

Christine Ellis - June 17, 2011 - 3:32 PM

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then LOVE some more!!! Wow!

Aubrey Archuleta - June 17, 2011 - 10:06 PM

So good! I am in love with so many. My favorite is the upside down one Syd & Robbie one, very playful. Nice work, Grammy!

botut - June 20, 2011 - 9:19 PM

Love the colors/clothes/socks 🙂 Super!!

Kathy Grover - August 1, 2011 - 12:53 PM

Each picture is the Best Picture Ever.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 1, 2011 - 1:03 PM

Thank you Kathy, I had some nice visits with Jon and got a few pics of him too … I’ll e-mail them to you sometime.

Sydney Reece and Co.

Megan, Robby, and 16 month old Sydney have been home for five weeks now and it has been crazy good! We have made up for lost time by doing lots of things together. Of course I usually have my camera in tow (except for this week when I got two big and two little visitors […]

Oh my sweet heavens. How can my heart melt so many times? I want to go wake her up just so I can squeeze that little cutie! I have been wondering where all those (amazing) pictures that I knew you took were…and here they are!!! Thank you! The one of you and her on the swings is perfect- your Grandma smile in that picture is priceless.

Btw- the watermark on the pics looks good!

Laura Higgs - May 13, 2011 - 12:05 AM

Love the pictures. Between Megan and your site, I am watching close from a far.
Your picture taking quality is extremely professional. Keep up the great work.

Your Man - May 15, 2011 - 2:58 PM

What a beautiful granddaughter I have. Not to mention wife and daughter. Yea , bet you were in my shoes.

It's Almost Easter … Got Your Happy On?

I planned a pre-Easter “play date” for April 20th (which just happened to coincide with MJ’s 18 month birthday). My daughter, daughter-in-law, and the grandbabies came over in the morning after breakfast with Easter outfits in hand because sometimes it’s better to get those pictures out of the way early in case it doesn’t pan […]

I know a Gramma who has her happy on!!!

What a fun day- thanks for making Easter egg-stra (i know, so cheesy) this year.

Lucky little grandkids you have!!!

amandapfeifer - April 21, 2011 - 7:00 PM

haha!
nice work.
A very similar story for us last year..
egg dying just didn’t go over great with my daughter and 3 of her friends last year. We tried making eggs from rice crispies, and dipped them in chocolate and candies. Thought it might be more age appropriate, and go over better… it didn’t. They just ate the candy.
I love setting up holiday “to-do’s” and love it no matter the outcome!

Kathy Jones - April 22, 2011 - 2:09 PM

Ahhh – but it all finally came together as your next post proves. Great fun pictures – You have so much fun with those grandbabies of yours. They truly are the luckiest! I am in the midst of trying to create my own memories with my girls running all around – my how I have missed them!!! They are so cute!

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - April 22, 2011 - 2:16 PM

Thank you Kathy, Having grandbabies is the best as you well know since you are several “Grandma Years” ahead of me. If you want to have your girls meet Big Ben, Benny and the Jets, and Soul Sista, bring them over before they return home — I’ll have them another week or so. Bring your camera too!

Today is a good day. Smile. Mary

Laura Higgs - April 22, 2011 - 7:36 PM

Love it. So daring with all that color. I would have had to do it outside on the grass. I’m so much more boring.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - April 22, 2011 - 10:38 PM

Soooo cheesy but love it and love you!

How to Entertain a 17 Month Old

We babysit this weekend and decided “an adventure” of some sort was in order. After breakfast we checked out the toy box to find the perfect adventure hat. He put the safari hat on and never took it off for hours. If it fell off, he put it back on. (Said 17 month old’s father better be […]

How freaking ridiculously adorable!!! I LOVE his obsession with the safari hat!!!

We’ll see if Syd picks out a hat…so far it’s a short lived accessory. 😉

Linda Johnston - March 30, 2011 - 8:25 AM

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, I think you might get the “Maam Maw of the year award” for your photographic genius–the commentary is as good as the pictures. But I think I still get “Hon” of the year for my massive quantities of cooking for the grands and their parents. (No wonder I have ALWAYS struggled with my weight–I should take up photography.)

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - March 30, 2011 - 9:48 AM

Linda, you always make me smile and so thanks for the strokes! And to correct what you said about cooking … well, you don’t only feed kids and grandkids … you’ve pretty much fed just about everyone I know and then some! Thanks “Hon,” and hands down, you have the best grandma name ever! Today is a good day. Smile. Mary

Aubrey Archuleta - March 30, 2011 - 5:59 PM

My boys love the pet store too. I am okay with, except for the smell, oh man! It stinks!

Kathy Jones - March 30, 2011 - 6:24 PM

Well – after a long hard day at work it was good to come home and smile at your pictures! Thanks Mary, you made my day.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - March 30, 2011 - 7:37 PM

Nope, Pet Smart did not stink at all but I have been to some that have.

Life with Kaishon - August 21, 2011 - 10:47 PM

You are the most fantastic Gramma! This outing sounds like so much fun. I also love your piggy bank idea : ) I can tell you love your grandbaby very, very much. Sweet post. LOVE your pictures. beautiful!

Grannie Smiles

This is Grannie. Not sure which one is making the other smile, but it warms my heart nonetheless. Angie and I have been friends a long time and she is seriously one of the sweetest ladies you’ll ever meet. She’s also fondly been referred to as a “Saint” and the “Travel Agent” in our circle. My sister was actually […]

Interesting, I just read about the memories that awaken in your post about your dad & then I see MJ wearing the same shirt Parker wore to our first family photos. Wow, that brings back the flood of emotion from that time. 2 young kids, with a kid! MJ wears it well 😀

Paradise Lost or Paradise Found?

They say Hawaii is Paradise. Could be. Maybe. But for how long? 1 year? 2 years? Nope. 3.and.one.half.years. People, it’s happening. (Mother screaming loudly) “IT’S HAPPENING!” They’re moving home! H-O-M-E! As in the same city and state where we live. Yeh, I’m a little excited. We just found out two nights ago … the night before […]

Paradise: a place in which existence is positive, harmonious and timeless. It’s not lost, nor found…it simply is my life! 🙂

Love you and can’t wait to see you!!!

Aubrey Archuleta - March 15, 2011 - 10:00 AM

YIPPEEEEEEE! I am so thrilled for you guys 😀

"24" Hours with MJ

After MJ got sick and started to mend, his parents got sick. After his parents got sick I got a phone call that sounded something like this: “Mom [groan], we’re [ooo] both sick. [More groans]. Can you [heavy breathing] come get MJ [grunt]?” Luckily it was my day off and I was off to the […]

haha, my youngest brought the bug to us and we (as in the adults) have been struggling badly this week. My dad dropped off meds and food at the front door but refused to enter the plagued domain!

Great way to spend the day with your grandson.

My First Sleepover – As told by MJ

I had my first sleepover with Gramma and Grampa last night. We had a great time. We played “Where’s the Monster?” But Monsters don’t scare me … I’m tough. I learn a lot from my Grampa … he taught me how to play cards. “Go fish Grampa.” He also taught me how to throw dice. […]

OH MY HELL…that was perfect!!!! You narrated it adorably! My favorites were him in the wig sighing and checking under the bed for monsters. Hmmm…but I also loved him playing cards with Grampa…too many to choose from. And the pajamas? Do they come in girl ones? TOO CUTE!

BTW- you do make a pretty scary looking monster with those eyes!!! 😉

fairlycandid - February 5, 2011 - 6:32 PM

And just wait till I get my Monster on Sydney! Oh, you think those PJ’s are cute …. just wait, my lady, until Syd’s first sleepover. 😉 And just when can I expect that again? Love you, miss you more. MOM XXOO

Linda - February 5, 2011 - 6:57 PM

Oh my, what a lucky little boy to have all those cute memories memorialized by his adoring grandma, who, by the way, does do a great monster face. Mr. Safari Man was pretty cute too.

Aubrey Archuleta - February 8, 2011 - 7:36 AM

Perfect storttelling. That blonde boy has you all wrapped around his finger…as it should be 🙂

amandapfeifer - February 8, 2011 - 9:57 PM

fairlycandid - February 8, 2011 - 10:24 PM
