Andy and Lauren's Wedding

One of the reasons we went to Seattle was to attend the wedding of Andy and Lauren. We’ve known Andy longer than we’ve known our kids and have known his folks and grandparents even longer. Andy spent three summers working for Mike, Mark, and Grampa at Mouser Machine Shop and we just think so much […]

What a lucky and lovely couple to have such a perfect day for an outside wedding. Enjoyed the photos very much.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - July 31, 2011 - 9:39 PM

Cathie, thanks for your sweet comments and I hope the B & G see it because they are just what you say. Thanks again for the wonderful time spent with you in Yelm — a beautiful place for sure. Love ya, Mary

Kathy Bettger - August 1, 2011 - 6:46 AM

Oh, Mary! What a special thing for you to do. I have read the whole thing and poured over the photos 3 times now. Lauren’s use of many varied colors make the photos really pop. We now have your narrative as a permanent record. I am so glad you and Mike were a part of this day.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 1, 2011 - 7:40 AM

Thanks Kathy, I loved doing this post in every way. I agree with you in that Laura’s color choices — and that beautiful sunshine — worked together so well!

Kay Lynn Brown - August 1, 2011 - 6:24 PM

Mary…WOW! These photos captured all of the sweetness and magic of that day. I love the picture of my brother, too! 🙂 Thank you for sharing! I enjoyed seeing you and Mike!

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 1, 2011 - 7:49 PM

Thank you Kay Lynn! Got some pics of the rest of the family too but couldn’t put everything on there. I appreciated you viewing and for your comments. Mary

Kathy Grover - August 1, 2011 - 9:10 PM

My vote for favorite picture is the one with the bride and groom and moms framed by the colorful fabric flowers. The flowers were connected and the people were connected. It made me feel connected even though I wasn’t there.

straitcrzy - August 1, 2011 - 10:05 PM

I am Lauren’s Aunt Mary. Thank you so much for sharing these pictures. I am going to put them on facebook so everyone can enjoy them. You did a great job. They had the most beautiful wedding.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 2, 2011 - 5:32 AM

Thank you Mary, I wish I could put a face to the name … might have met you but there were lots of wonderful people at that wedding!

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 2, 2011 - 7:12 AM

Mine too! Oh wait, I already said that in the post. 🙂

Barbara Cast - August 2, 2011 - 9:44 AM

Thank you so much for sharing…wonderful pictures…

Janet Spies - August 2, 2011 - 1:07 PM

You can see Mary’s face in the 10th black and white photo above. And to her left, you will see Lauren’s Aunt Carol. They are toasting the bride and groom.

Beautiful pictures, beautiful people and beautiful day!! I enjoyed your post immensely.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 2, 2011 - 1:22 PM

And thank you Barbara for taking the time to tell me. Fabulous wedding you had there!

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 2, 2011 - 1:24 PM

Janet, thank you for pointing Mary and Carol out. I felt badly that I slighted Lauren’s family in this post since I knew the Bettger side so well. Thanks for taking the time to read my post and more importantly for commenting. Us bloggers love that you know. (Wink.) Mary

justleesha - August 3, 2011 - 6:41 PM

I love all these! Soooo pretty! What a wonderful theme and setting for a wedding! Makes the church and rented hall I had for my wedding look pretty darn shabby! 🙂

So, I was looking through your posts today and noticed a BSU hat on your grandson and it got me wondering…. do you live in Idaho??

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 3, 2011 - 6:49 PM

Yes, we live in Boise. And you? I think I read one time … was it Utah? If you want to see BSU pics and see how crazy fans can be, go to: http://fairlycandid.wordpress.com/2010/11/09/get-your-game-face-on/

NeckBeard - August 5, 2011 - 1:12 PM

These are incredible. Thank you so much for posting these photos and your wonderful narrative. It was so great to have you and Mike there. I love you guys so much. Lauren wants us to print this out and put it in our wedding journal. I said, only after one important correction, I worked at Mouser Machine for 3 summers. Not just one. 🙂

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 5, 2011 - 3:39 PM

Hi Andy, thank you for commenting from your “tanned” state no doubt after returning from Jamaica. I’m sure you had a fabulous time. I will get that correction made immediately to give you credit for working at the Shop three years … most people didn’t stick it out so long with the hard labor Gramps expected! Mike didn’t catch the mistake either — young mind vs old mind — you’ll win every time! Love, Mary

Jeri Dunne - August 12, 2011 - 9:22 AM

Mary, you have such a a gift and it’s so fun to read your blog and see your beautiful photography.
This had to have been such a fun trip and what a unique, lovely wedding!
Thanks for sharing!

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 12, 2011 - 2:10 PM

I appreciate your comment Jeri. I love that you stopped by and welcome your visit any time!

I Heart Faces Photo Challenge | Water

http://www.iheartfaces.com/2011/07/photo-challenge-water/ Water is the theme this week at I Heart Faces and while water is the background element only, I chose this photo for the subject, my grandson, who was being submerged with kisses from his parents.

Remembering the Good Guys

The location for Ken and Kathy’s post awaked something in me — memories of two special men in my life but more on that in a minute. I suggested several locations for Ken and Kathy’s photo shoot and Kathy seemed drawn to the ones involving architecture … downtown Boise, the Bishop’s House, or the Capital Building were some […]

Want to know a little secret? This is my FAVORITE post to date. I loved it- everything about it…and sadly, there’s so much I learned in this post!!! I had no idea Grandpa Queen was a cradle-robber! The picture of Grandpa Brown in the kitchen threw me for a loop- I can’t believe how much Matt looks like him there. It was fun to read of lemon-drop and auction childhood memories.
I can only imagine how much you must miss your Dad…even after all these years. I wish I could have met him. Someday. 😉

Kathy Jones - March 19, 2011 - 8:58 AM

Love this post! It made me feel nostalgic and although I never met your dad, I feel connected through your stories because you have such a great way of story-telling! The stories also reminded me of my own father in many ways. Thanks for sharing!

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - March 19, 2011 - 8:33 PM

My oldest sister wrote me an e-mail with these comments on this post. They are special and I appreciate her!
“My memories are in some ways the very same and others the exact opposite. I do not ever remember Dad saying the actual words – I love you – but I never doubted that he did. My special memories are after Nick. Nicole was less than one because she wasn’t walking and I walked into the kitchen and he was on his stomach on the floor making her laugh. I can very clearly remember thinking to myself – who is this fellow? I have always felt sorry for both of you that you didn’t get to meet Pap Pap on your own level with your kids. I do know that I was given a gift.

I don’t remember not liking you with the exception of having to go to the basement and getting you grape jelly and who knows if that was more than once. I was sad to read that you felt that way so SORRY many years later.

I also have good memories of both sets of grandparents. I remember Grandad as only wearing railroad pants, always with hard candy, which I hated and would never turn down his offer of a piece (and would turn the corner and spit out). I loved riding in his funny old car. I always thought that he took care of Gram. Not that he was perfect because we all know thats not true. I have happy memories of the aution but I know that only went once or maybe twice. I always knew that their house was tiny and so perfect in so many ways. I was always impressed even as a very small kid that we were all invited as a giant family. The garden was so important to her and we were allowed to run the paths, pick the berries, play in the wonderful smelly little room downstairs with the clothes and hats. I loved Easter dinner there. I always felt sorry for Gram when it was rainy or cold. Cousins are a special thing. This year at Christmas at your house my husband was reminded of that same magic watching the ladies, Charlie and MJ. It’s just special, crowed, noisy, estra messy, and special. With four, soon to be five and six.”

Becky Hamilton - March 22, 2011 - 12:59 PM

Mary – you have such a way with words. I can picture Grandpa and Uncle Kenny vividly in your story. My favorite story about your dad is that he used to throw 24 pennies out in the yard and tell you girls not to come in until you found them all. Problem was he would tell you he threw out 25. Always makes me smile.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - March 22, 2011 - 1:01 PM

Are you serious? I didn’t know that story. That’s hilarious … can’t wait to play that on my grandkids one day! Thank you for commenting Becky.

Paradise Lost or Paradise Found?

They say Hawaii is Paradise. Could be. Maybe. But for how long? 1 year? 2 years? Nope. 3.and.one.half.years. People, it’s happening. (Mother screaming loudly) “IT’S HAPPENING!” They’re moving home! H-O-M-E! As in the same city and state where we live. Yeh, I’m a little excited. We just found out two nights ago … the night before […]

Paradise: a place in which existence is positive, harmonious and timeless. It’s not lost, nor found…it simply is my life! 🙂

Love you and can’t wait to see you!!!

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - March 14, 2011 - 4:23 PM

Diane D. wrote (under a different post): “Very cute pictures. Love the camo babies. — I am glad you family will be all together in Idaho.”

Aubrey Archuleta - March 15, 2011 - 10:00 AM

YIPPEEEEEEE! I am so thrilled for you guys 😀

"Light the Streets"

About one year ago I made the leap to sponsor a child through Africa New Life Ministries on a monthly basis. Her name is Diane, she is now in 6th grade, loves soccer, English, drawing, and has written me some pretty sweet letters. I say leap because I’ve always been somewhat of a skeptic when it […]

March Snow

It was a long miserable few days after a nasty stomach bug swarmed the family this weekend. We were still recouping but waking up to snow seemed to make me feel better and happy for the moment. It was so pretty coming down so thick and white.   The last few times it snowed was only […]

Brrrr! I’m cold just looking at the snow! I preferred the first blur picture best- liked how it looked like rain. So, is it back to pretty March weather again?

botut - March 10, 2011 - 8:31 PM

I think you better check your temp because I highly suspect fever induced delirium….”waking up to snow seemed to make me feel better and happy for the moment.” What???? Really??? Well then, please, please, please take some of our snow away! I’m ready for some warmth and Vitamin D.

Post Valentine's

One of my best years … probably due in part to being surrounded by people who love each other, love me, love others … the posts I’ve done on love (with more still to come this month) … it was just a lovely V-Day all around. Mike took me out-of-town for the weekend then surprised […]
