Fun Time Summer Time With the Ones I Love

I am having a blast this summer with my grandbabies! And in case you were wondering … no, I don’t always have a camera in their space or face (gol, what do you think I am — obsessive or something? Do not answer that) … but I figure since they are oblivious to it most of the time, why shouldn’t I get these […]

I’m not even sure where to start…I had such a delightful time reading this, crying some, laughing others and completely having my heart overwhelmed with love, joy and delight. You captured their personalities in the sweetest of ways, and I loved seeing all of the pictures that I’ve seen you snap, but haven’t SEEN. I’m not even going to start in on favorites, because there were too many- but I did love how you captured her coming out of the water when Robby dunked her.

Thanks for all you do- the snapshots, editing, bubbles, sleepovers, 2-kid putdowns, clothes and more. You spoil us all. Love you!

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 15, 2011 - 11:26 AM

Thanks for your sweet comments Meg. I had such fun pouring over all my pics seeing which ones would make the blog cut. It got a bit long (ya think?!). MOM XXO

Your Man - August 15, 2011 - 5:34 PM

Wow, I think I’m even becoming more of a softy than I thought. What great pics and moments that will never be forgotten. You are the greatest!!!!! Love

Megan - August 17, 2011 - 6:11 AM

Oops…forgot to mention how much I loved the Grampa/Sydney bubbly dialogue. PERFECTLY put!

Aubrey Archuleta - August 19, 2011 - 8:42 AM

So great, I just l.o.v.e.d. every bit of this post! Thanks for such a fun perspective on summa time with toddlers. Love the boobies comment & the bubble story, so entertaining, as we have all been there!

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - August 19, 2011 - 9:02 AM

Thank you Aubrey, I realize it was long so happy that you actually took the time to read the darn thing! It just kept growing and growing and you know how many pictures were “left behind” for me to wonder what to do with. My camera is a magnet to these kids.

Ali C - August 19, 2011 - 11:57 AM

Thanks for your kind words on my blog! Those are some seriously adorable grandbabies you have there! You can see your love in every image!

Happy 4th!

Happy Independence Day to all Americans out there! We were camping so I bought little shirts and flags for our grandbabies, now 18 months and 20 months, to celebrate on Sunday night. The sparklers got the kabash since I was thinking more of a photo shoot than forest fires and hefty fines, but luckily my […]

What sweet pics, hun. You have 2 cute babies. Great job!!!

Sydney Reece and Co.

Megan, Robby, and 16 month old Sydney have been home for five weeks now and it has been crazy good! We have made up for lost time by doing lots of things together. Of course I usually have my camera in tow (except for this week when I got two big and two little visitors […]

Megan - May 12, 2011 - 7:04 AM

Oh my sweet heavens. How can my heart melt so many times? I want to go wake her up just so I can squeeze that little cutie! I have been wondering where all those (amazing) pictures that I knew you took were…and here they are!!! Thank you! The one of you and her on the swings is perfect- your Grandma smile in that picture is priceless.

Btw- the watermark on the pics looks good!

Laura Higgs - May 13, 2011 - 12:05 AM

Love the pictures. Between Megan and your site, I am watching close from a far.
Your picture taking quality is extremely professional. Keep up the great work.

Your Man - May 15, 2011 - 2:58 PM

What a beautiful granddaughter I have. Not to mention wife and daughter. Yea , bet you were in my shoes.

Miss Ella and the Boys

Ella is almost 7 months with big dark blue eyes and two cousins that think she’s pretty cool. I took family portraits last November when Ella was just a couple months old and was privileged to be asked to take hers again now. She was the focus and her cousins would join her for some Easter-outfit […]

Wow, Beth (and you other commentators), thanks for boosting my confidence. I get to photograph Ella in another few months – yippee!

More Chicky Love

My friend Kathy has three beautiful granddaughters who live out-of-state. They are home for Spring Break and so I offered for them to come over and see Big Ben and the gang if they’d like. They liked. I asked Kathy to bring her camera and it made my heart happy that she was so snap […]

Cute little chickys all.

Kathy - April 27, 2011 - 9:41 AM

Oh Mary – you did such a good job capturing my beautiful little girls! Thank you for the wonderful blessing of having us over and showing loving patience through all the drama! And, although Mylah looks like a three year old she is actually only two! Hence, the drama…
A memory I am sure the girls will remember for a long time.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - April 27, 2011 - 9:54 AM

Glad you liked them and have fun with all the pictures you took. Oops, thought someone said Mylah was three … I made the correction in the post. 2 … 3 … 6 … 8 … whatever their ages, they are all beauties, those girls!

A Big Easter Surprise

On Tuesday, I came home and met Mike outside mowing the yard. [Said in my sweetest wifey voice] “Hon, I need your help. Could you find me a big box … I need a big box.” We chatted about boxes until the big question I was dreading finally came. “What do you need a box for?” “Weeeell […]

Sheila Clark - April 22, 2011 - 7:30 AM

Oh Mary! LOL! Those are so cute! Even though they aren’t the photos that you expected to get, they are so darn cute. I love the one of MJ laying on the floor looking at the chick and the one where it looks like he’s going to squeeze the life out of it. So funny! I hope you get the shots that you want on your second try 🙂

Linda Johnston - April 22, 2011 - 8:56 AM

Who needs Anne Geddes when you’ve got Gramma Mary? Sometimes pictures are cuter when they don’t go as we plan. It shows those precious little personalities. Besides, I think there is a reason why Anne Geddes often chooses newborns for her work–they sleep a lot, unlike 1 1/2 year olds. I can even see the look on Mikey’s face when you told him why you needed the box (I think he secretly loves your big ideas). I can see chickey love all over his face.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - April 22, 2011 - 9:57 AM

Oh my goodness Linda, I was smiling through your note, but that last line, I busted out laughing at my desk. Oh my, wait till Mikey reads that! Too good and you are too funny … you should start a blog.

Kathy Grover - April 22, 2011 - 2:29 PM

Holy Cow! Holy Chicks! Anna Geddes has got nothing on you.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - April 22, 2011 - 2:35 PM

Kathy, you always crack me up. Thank you.

Mary Kuehn - April 22, 2011 - 9:02 PM

I will not show those pictures to Mark for he would look like Mike and I would be feeding chicks. My fav was Sydney in a line with the chicks. “The 4 Chicks” Try it again when they are 4 or 5 it might go better. Turned out great! See you soon.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - April 22, 2011 - 10:20 PM

What’s Mark’s e-mail address again?

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - April 22, 2011 - 10:24 PM

Sheila, I could appreciate you being the mother of twins and what you do on a daily basis after this photo shoot … and we had two mothers, a great-grandma and me! Thank you for commenting Sheila … have a great Easter!

Your Man - April 23, 2011 - 6:12 AM

I would really like to know what chickey love is or looks like.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - April 23, 2011 - 7:26 AM

You know when you look at me? That’s chicky love. Lovie you too.

It's Almost Easter … Got Your Happy On?

I planned a pre-Easter “play date” for April 20th (which just happened to coincide with MJ’s 18 month birthday). My daughter, daughter-in-law, and the grandbabies came over in the morning after breakfast with Easter outfits in hand because sometimes it’s better to get those pictures out of the way early in case it doesn’t pan […]

I know a Gramma who has her happy on!!!

What a fun day- thanks for making Easter egg-stra (i know, so cheesy) this year.

Lucky little grandkids you have!!!

amandapfeifer - April 21, 2011 - 7:00 PM

haha!
nice work.
A very similar story for us last year..
egg dying just didn’t go over great with my daughter and 3 of her friends last year. We tried making eggs from rice crispies, and dipped them in chocolate and candies. Thought it might be more age appropriate, and go over better… it didn’t. They just ate the candy.
I love setting up holiday “to-do’s” and love it no matter the outcome!

Kathy Jones - April 22, 2011 - 2:09 PM

Ahhh – but it all finally came together as your next post proves. Great fun pictures – You have so much fun with those grandbabies of yours. They truly are the luckiest! I am in the midst of trying to create my own memories with my girls running all around – my how I have missed them!!! They are so cute!

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - April 22, 2011 - 2:16 PM

Thank you Kathy, Having grandbabies is the best as you well know since you are several “Grandma Years” ahead of me. If you want to have your girls meet Big Ben, Benny and the Jets, and Soul Sista, bring them over before they return home — I’ll have them another week or so. Bring your camera too!

Today is a good day. Smile. Mary

Laura Higgs - April 22, 2011 - 7:36 PM

Love it. So daring with all that color. I would have had to do it outside on the grass. I’m so much more boring.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - April 22, 2011 - 10:38 PM

Soooo cheesy but love it and love you!

The Homecoming

They’re b-a-a-a-c-k! Apparently after the flight my daughter is now resigned to have only one child … yes, apparently that bad of a Red Eye flight, but I’ll let her share those details on her blog when she gets around to it (of which I am sure by then she will have forgotten the worst of […]

I just KNEW there would be photographic evidence of the Hawaiian cuteness!!! She is so precious. I’ll be praying for warmer weather so that she adjusts to usually sunny sometimes rainy and cold Idaho.

Your Man - April 11, 2011 - 4:31 PM

I’m in heaven. I know it must be just the same!

Kathy Grover - April 11, 2011 - 9:04 PM

Your pictures just get better and better. Just like your grandbabies.

First and Last "Visit"

I’m pretty much a mess of distraction lately thinking about my daughter’s family moving back home from Hawaii after 3-1/2 years. Ahhh. It was last July when Sydney met Idaho for the first time. She was 7 months old when these photos were taken of her, and now she’s doubled that. She turned 15 months […]

Oh. My. CHUNK!!! I so do not remember that stage at all!!! Is that normal to forget how small and chunky she was until you see pictures? And bald!!! Oh, sigh…she’s still a baby but really- “What happened to my BABY!?!?”

Gosh, you’ve got a lot of fun ahead of you, Gramma…

Your Man - April 4, 2011 - 3:22 PM

Gramma gets to take pics, Syd. and grandpa get to go fishing ,hunting, and golfing, and just plain hang out. Pops.

Amanda Pfeifer - April 5, 2011 - 5:53 PM

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - April 5, 2011 - 7:17 PM

Sugar and Spice … and a Little Dirt Bike?

Meet “Ry”, a sweet, petite, almost five-year old with some good upbringing! Take for example being out in the cold for over an hour and never once, not once, whimpering or complaining or backtalking or crying or anything even remotely negative — through several clothing changes no less. I got report back from her sweet step-mom […]
