It was date night for Mommy and Daddy and Sydney got to spend the night with us! As they left she very boldly said “Have fun guys!” I had to take the opportunity to snap a simple picture of her folks before they left as it’s been a while since we had a belly shot — and Meg was all dressed up after all. Now that Robby is an Edward Jones Financial Advisor he was actually dressed down. That man can look pretty amazing in his suits. As Megan has taught Sydney to say … “Daddy looks so handsome it hurts!” Megan is now 36 weeks and due April 14 so she’s on the last few week countdown. Will it be two weeks, four weeks, six weeks, or somewhere in between before Baby Question Mark makes his or her way into all our lives? If we only knew! I know I’m getting excited and I have finally made my prediction and stand by it. I went and bought ____ clothes the other day and had them wrapped! I’m committed! And no, I’m not sharing my prediction. (Sorry Meg. 🙂 )
Mike and I have been trying to “cut back”. HA! Like that’s working. We have managed, however, to remove all sweets from the house, but having a granddaughter spend the night calls for special adventures on St. Patrick’s Day, right? Right. Like a trip to the Ice Cream Shop … Uwl Squirrel (U Swirl). Turns out Sydney is a people watcher just like her grampa. I swear, she never even saw the camera pointed towards her face because she was too interested in the people … all while never missing a bite.
Finally I asked if I could have a bite just to get her to look at me to see those beautiful eyes of hers. She complied immediately. Love you Syd.
After a sleepover, everyone can be pretty tired … Gramma, Grampa, Sydney. Her mom is her favorite person in the whole-wide world, followed closely by her daddy. Her thumb is the first sign of tiredness. But look at Megan … see how refreshed she looks after a night off!
Dad and Sydney take a moment to relax on the floor. Syd is a very thoughtful girl. When Daddy asked her for a taste of her thumb, she readily complied. What a girl. What a dad.
Megan and Robby had Mike and I, my sister, brother-in-law, and Granny Jo Jo over for lunch after church for seriously amazing and home cooked corn beef that she made into Reuben Sandwiches. Sydney is at her own little kitchen discussing some helpful tips with Granny Jo Jo before we sat down to eat.
If you were a two-year old, wouldn’t you just love a room like this? Megan made something like 16 or so birds from scratch and they are hanging all over the walls in Syd’s pretty pink and light green room. She also made the book bags hanging on the wall. She will tell you she got the book bag idea from Pinterest — but she still had to make them. Sewing talent runs in my family — it skipped me.
See that blur in the foreground? That’s Sydney having a “Dance Party” with her dad. See those happy faces in the background? That’s my family reacting to said “Dance Party.” I hope you all find such cherished moments in your own life. You know what they say? “Life is short … just dance.” Love to all, Mary
