Meet “Ry”, a sweet, petite, almost five-year old with some good upbringing! Take for example being out in the cold for over an hour and never once, not once, whimpering or complaining or backtalking or crying or anything even remotely negative — through several clothing changes no less. I got report back from her sweet step-mom Michelle (a great gal I work with) that at least 10 times that night they heard her say “this was the best day ever!” Ever? Wow, I’m feeling pretty good about now because I got to be a part of her “ever”. It apparently started off as “Princess Day.” Princess Day means you get your hair curled, and your nails painted, and you get to slip into the most beautiful dress you own for pictures. That’s where I come in. I’m not sure who had the most fun … her or me … either way, we did.
I brought along a little something special for Ry to see … dyed Easter eggs my children made over 20 years ago (now petrified with a rock solid center … sort of like putting a big marble in a plastic egg). Each Easter I would save one egg that the kids made special for Mike and I … saved by putting the egg up in a closet where no one can get to it and leaving it there for a year or two. After that time, you can then softly shake the egg which detaches the yoke from the sides. It’s pretty cool and the basket makes a great center-piece for Easter Dinner (with lots of nostalgic memories). If you look closely at this one, you’ll see the word “dad” written by my son and a tiny “1988” next to it written by me … and I think Ry looks pretty cute holding it!
The color purple, long hair, eyes of blue, a big smile, and a whole lot of cute girly-girl in-between.
Inside this girly-girl is another little girl waiting for adventure. I love that at almost five she is being given the opportunity to do the same fearless things that boys get to do. Talk about building confidence in a little girl … and attitude. They call her “Dirt Bike Chick” — love it!
The photo session was booked special just for Ry’s upcoming birthday, but let’s share a little love between her folks too.
“Mrs. B”, you rock this pose and that’s all I’ve got to say!
