Snow What We Did?

We went sledding! Our family owns a business called Mouser Machine Shop located over by Costco where Mike’s folks bought land and built in 1990 (before that it was in a shop behind Grampa’s house). For as long as we have been there, there has been an empty lot next door that is flat, without weeds and rocks, and perfect for sledding. Mike’s dad used to pull our kids behind a rig so it was a bit deja vu that Mike called the kids and asked if they wanted to meet up to go sledding this past weekend. Mike put on his dad’s coat (his folks have passed), pulled out the 4-wheeler, the mom’s bundled up their babies and toddlers, and everyone had the best time. Actually my daughter-in-law Danielle wrote it best on her blog when she said  “I’m not sure who I enjoyed watching more…the kids laughing, the big kids having fun being kids again, or Grampa laughing and having fun pulling everyone around.” It truly was a soul-lifting few hours out in the frigid cold without hardly a complaint … except for the face freezes on the biggest kids … that of course, made us laugh even more. I got a bit sentimental realizing we are now the Gramma and Grampa that our g-babes will remember the way our kids remember their wonderful grandparents. Life full circle. After sledding we drove over to Black Bear Diner and fed our bellies, getting another family photo opportunity where even I got to be in the picture because of a nice stranger that Mike handed my camera off to … and if you are wondering … yes, I did have a split second where I worried the guy might high-tail it and run off with it … or slip on the ice and crash it. It didn’t happen. Phew. Now that would have been a story to tell because I would have run him down!

Oh my JOY. Seeing those pictures, those frozen faces, those laughs and the snow mists made my night. What a spectacular day with many like that in the future I hope!

You guys are amazing Grandparents…and seeing Dad happy like that is just good for my soul. I could never get enough of it.

P.S. Image #28 of dad laughing is my favorite.

Looks like the happy scene that was happening at my house that day too! However, my family’s happy faces will have to be burned into my memory as my g-babies don’t have a wonderful photographer for a gramma! (Though I did manage a few picts.) Great job of capturing the joy Mary!

Knowing your family, I can hear the laughter too … especially since it was a birthday celebration as well. Happy Birthday to James and Jeremy!
