You’ve no doubt heard of a “First Birthday Cake Smash” (as in Jayden’s sugar-free cake here and Gracie’s Cake Smash here), but Megan came up with the idea for a “Watermelon Smash” as an alternative for Simone on her first birthday. There was no smashing it however, only eating it and she LOVED it! The ground was cold and wet from the big kids playing with the sprinkler earlier, and she doesn’t really care much for grass yet … but she forgot all about that when her momma handed her that piece of watermelon. She just sat there literally saying “mmmm”, “m-m-m-m”, and “MMMmmmm-m”. It was all serious business. The watermelon wasn’t light either, but apparently watermelon is muscle food in more ways than one. The fun Happy Birthday banner was made by Megan’s friend, Christine, when Simone was born so Happy Birthday Sweet Simone! How do I love thee? Let me count the seeds. 🙂 And like seeds of a watermelon, that’s how many pictures there are … how could I spit out just a couple!
And this next series is priceless to me. With four active g-babes, it’s (really) hard to get them in one place at the same time. It’s takes work! But, all the coaxing aside, I never regret any images I get with all four kids – good, bad, or with dirty faces. They all too soon grow and will lose that sweet innocence they have. Makes you want to get out your camera and have a watermelon feed doesn’t it? Go for it, but just don’t swallow the seeds or look what you might get! 🙂
Between Jayden’s birthday party and Cake Smash, and Simone’s fun outdoor party, it’s been quite the April. Kudos to the girls and their husbands for all they did for the family with such wonderful meals, entertainment, and lots of love. Lots of love right back at ya. Hugs, Mom
