Simone Olivia [Newborn]

My second granddaughter and fourth grandchild, Simone Olivia, is now two weeks old! I’ve been a tad bit busy with all things baby, but finally I have Simone’s newborn photos done of the gazillion I’ve taken thus far! I shot hers over a period of two days — the first in her big sister’s doll bed when she was just five days old, and then a few days later at nine days old. I am always amazed at what hard work photographing newborns are — it definitely involves some muscle and lots of sweat on everyone’s part. One thing I know for sure, however, is that it’s always worth it in the end. Always. My family and I will look back at these pictures over the years of Simone, and Jayden before her, and will find it a little surreal that they were ever this tiny, this sweet, this loved. Definitely loved. I know many of my friends  have come to know MJ and Sydney through my pictures and blog posts. I hope you will get to know Jayden and Simone in the same way. It’s rare that my camera sits for long, and while it’s always hard work keeping up with it all, I can’t stop myself. Simone looks very much like Sydney did at birth except for the color of her hair and hairline. Syd is unique, spunky, a little naughty, and a sweetheart, and now she has a sister to look after. When Simone cries, Syd is the first to announce it with “Mommy, your baby’s kwying”. Megan shared that she was suspecting a boy, who would have thrilled her too, but secretly she may have been wishing for another girl because neither she nor Robby ever had a sister. I think that’s pretty cool. Here’s to sisters! Kudos and love to my sister, Julie, for the beautiful yellow handmade afghan, and to my mom for the handmade “Now I lay me down to sleep” sheet.

A big thank you to my co-worker, Deanna Silvers, who made the awesome hats you will see in this post. 🙂 Deanna, you rock!

The tutu in the following pictures is one that I bought for Syd over a year ago. She wanted nothing to do with it so I stuck it in the closet until I recently started using it on a few newborns. I brought it along for Simone, and what a surprise when Syd comes bounding into the room with her hair all dolled up and her tutu on (with nothing on underneath I might add). She thought it was so pretty and “koot”. I think she’s koot. She was so excited for pictures but she’s a wiggly one, this girl, so her mom bribed her with gum and I bribed her with my cell phone, and the rest they say, is maximum cuteness history.

Now, how can you resist a face like that? Love to all, Mary/MOM XXO

I know I’m biased but these are my favorite newborn pictures yet!!!!! I LOVE them. You do such a nice job. I think Simone looked so much like Syd in her 1 day pictures but she has changed soo much in these last pictures you have taken. I can’t wait to get my hands on her. Great job.

Argh! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these pictures and the little people in them!!! I can’t stop looking and then I think- “I’ll let her know my favorites” and then I write them down and it’s all but like 3 of them, so that’s ridiculous to list!!! The captured smirk in the red hat is a favorite as is the first “plain” one you see with Simone without bows/hats. I love the first little bed one and the lips on her in all of them make me want to go kiss her. The one you got with her eyes wide open is so Sydney it’s scary- and that little nose is perfect. Of course all the ones of Sis are my favorite, but the last one with the big eyes and all those tiny teeth is killer. How on earth am I supposed to pick for my wall? Good thing I have LOTS of space- I might just take one of each! 😉

Thanks again for sweating your bum off (literally) while taking these and working so hard to edit them so I could see them! Even if these weren’t my adorable kids, I’d tell you that you are an amazing photographer who captures such sweetness!!!

Love you!

You are biased, I am biased, Megan is biased and that’s okay! Simone just keeps looking more like Syd all the time … It wasn’t as strong in the beginning, but now it’s like looking at Syd. In some ways I’m glad she is hear and a few weeks have passed so that now things are settling down, but in other ways I know this first year will fly by too quickly. Dang. I’m sure looking forward to seeing Helaina again and meeting Indy. I hope I get to photograph them. Wink. Wink.

You are always so uplifting. You encourage me to want to do another one because every time I finish a newborn shoot I swear it’s my last one! You’d think I’d lose weight from all the sweating!
