READING BETWEEN THE LINES OF MY LIFE

ON MOTHER’S DAY IN MAY, MY FAMILY MET AT DISCOVERY PARK WHERE CHARLIE (MY NEPHEW’S SON WHO IS 4 ), AND MJ AND SYDNEY (3-1/2) GOT TO PLAY AND PLAY AND PLAY ALL DAY TOGETHER.

CHARLIE’S DAD AND MY SON GOT IN A WATER FIGHT. CHARLIE’S DAD LOST.

MJ FOUND A “YOBSTER” IN THE RIVER AND MATT CAUGHT IT WITH A BUCKET. I TAUGHT MY NIECE’S DAUGHTER, EMMA (10), HOW TO HOLD IT … THEN WE COOKED IT. (OH, YOU KNOW I’M KIDDING.)

APPARENTLY MJ NEEDED TO LEARN SOMETHING FROM HIS LITTLE MOTHERING COUSIN. YOU SHOULD KNOW SHE LIKES EYE CONTACT WHEN SHE TALKS TO YOU.

SIMONE WAS TRYING TO DECIDE IF SHE WANTED TO EAT THAT BROCCOLI OR TAKE A NAP. TOUGH DECISION BUT THE BROCCOLI FINALLY WON OUT. NAPS CAN WAIT.

AND WHILE SIMONE WAS LAYING LOW, IT WAS A GOOD TIME FOR JAYDEN TO TAKE A DRIVE IN HER CAR. BEEP! BEEP!

AT FIRST BABPTIST CHURCH WHERE I ATTEND, THERE IS A LITTLE GROUP OF GIRLS WHO GATHER FOR DANCE LESSONS (ALL OF GROUP NOT SHOWN). THEY HAD A LITTLE RECITAL AT THE END OF THE YEAR ON “THE SOUND OF MUSIC”. IT WAS ALL OF MAYBE 20 MINUTES OF WHICH I GOT THERE DURING THE LAST SONG. OOPS! BUT I STILL CAPTURED A FEW SWEET SHOTS OF MY FRIENDS’ GRANDDAUGHTERS WHOM I WILL INTRODUCE IN A BIT.

MY FRIEND LINDA JOHNSTON’S OLDEST GRANDDAUGHTER, ABI (8)

AND MY FRIEND KATHY JONES GRANDGIRLS, DANA (10), BREEZIE (9), AND MYLAH (4)

AND THEN THERE’S MY G-BABE THE MORNING AFTER A SLEEPOVER BEFORE GOING TO CHURCH.

SEE, SOMETIMES I DO TURN THE CAMERA OVER TO OTHER CAPABLE HANDS (THANKS GRAMPA).

AND NOW HERE’S MJ, THE MORNING AFTER HIS SLEEPOVER AND CHARGED FOR CHURCH.

FOR SOME 15 YEARS NOW, WE ALWAYS USE THE FRONT YARD AND NEVER THE BACK. WE HAVE OUR BBQ’S OUT FRONT, VISIT WITH OUR NEIGHBORS, FRIENDS, AND FAMILY OUT FRONT, PLAY WITH OUR GRANDKIDS OUT FRONT, AND HAVE OUR POOL PARTIES OUT FRONT. THE BACK YARD IS JUST SO CONFINING AND STUFFY. MY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR TOLD ME THE OTHER DAY SHE THOUGHT THAT WAS WIERD. REALLY? I THINK SHE’S WIERD.

SIMONE WAS CURIOUS WHAT THE SPRINKLER CREATURE WAS SO SHE HAD TO GET A CLOSER LOOK.

PLUS THE FRONT YARD IS WHERE THE FLOWERS ARE THAT CAN BE PICKED TO TAKE HOME TO MOMMY. HEY, DO YOU REMEMBER THE POST I DID A FEW WEEKS BACK CALLED “COUSIN LOVE”? YES? WELL THIS IS WHAT I’M TALKIN’ ABOUT … THERE WAS NO POSING ON MY PART WHATSOEVER. (OF COURSE YOU NOTICE I NEVER SHOW YOU THE PICTURES WHERE THEY ARE YELLING AT EACH OTHER OR PUSHING EACH OTHERS BUTTONS.) I LOVE MY ROSE COLORED GLASSES. NO PUN INTENDED.

IF YOU WILL NOTICE IN THIS NEXT PICTURE MJ HAS TAKEN TO WEARING HIS DADDY’S SPORT SOCKS.

AND THE GRANDKIDS GET MORE TUCKERED OUT IN THE FRONT YARD, AND THAT CAN BE A GOOD THING.

SO THEY HAVE TO PACK UP AND GO HOME. THAT’S A BAD THING.

AND ONE LAST THING ABOUT MY FRONT YARD …  HOW CAN I DENY THE NEIGHBORS THE AWESOMENESS THAT IS THIS? HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU GET TO HAVE A REAL SUPERHERO AMONGST YOU?!

ON FATHER’S DAY WE WENT TO OUR SON MATT’S WHERE DANIELLE COOKED HER FIRST (OF MANY FUTURE) PRIME RIBS. THE MEAL WAS FABULOUS. WHAT THE BEST PART WAS, HOWEVER, WAS HONORING THESE TWO WONDERFUL DADS WHO BOTH RAISED/ARE RAISING WONDERFUL SONS.

THIS PAST WEEKEND (JUNE 20-23) WE WERE IN BRUNEAU TO SHOOT A WEDDING ON THE 22ND (PHOTOS WILL BE COMING UP IN A FEW WEEKS OF LEAH AND DAN GERICHS) SO MIKE AND I DECIDED TO MAKE A WEEKEND CAMP TRIP OUT OF IT AND STAY AT THE BRUNEAU SAND DUNES STATE PARK. WE HAD THE FUN OF BEING ENTERTAINED BY A RACCOON WHO LIVED IN THE TREE ON OUR CAMP SITE. ON THURSDAY HE CAME DOWN FROM THE TREE FOR A BIT RIGHT IN FRONT LOTS OF CAMPERS AND KIDS, BUT WHEN OUR DAUGHTER’S FAMILY ARRIVED SATURDAY, DO YOU THINK HE WOULD SHOW OFF FOR THE LITTLE GIRLS? HECK NO … HE JUST SLEPT AWAY IN THE TREE ABOVE.

I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND MYSELF THE FIRST ONE ON THE DUNE AROUND 9:00 SATURDAY MORNING. IT’S FUNNY HOW THEY LOOK SOOOO BIG CLIMBING THEM, BUT ONCE ON TOP, IT’S NOT SO BIG LOOKING.

THIS WAS MEGAN AND ROBBY AND THE GIRLS FIRST VISIT TO THE DUNES SO ONE YEAR OLD SIMONE DECIDED SHE’D BETTER HYDRATE FIRST.

THE KIDS GRABBED SOME CARDBOARD AND AWAY WE WENT. ROBBY WENT FIRST. HE DIDN’T MOVE ON THE HILL, SO MEGAN, BEING LIGHTER, DECIDED TO GIVE IT A GO.

SYDNEY WASN’T AS ADVENTUROUS AS I EXPECTED, BUT ONCE SHE SAW HER SISTER CARDBOARD DOWN, SHE WAS ALL EXCITED FOR HER TURN … UNTIL …

… UNTIL HER TURN.

LIFE’S LITTLE ADVENTURES … THANKS FOR COMING ALONG ON MINE. 🙂

My favorite kind of post- catch up and bits of pieces of what you’ve been up to and all the fun inbetween, candid shots that have taken place to tell the story.

LOVE the sweet smile on Syd’s face before church- and can envision Sydney telling MJ- “MJ. MJ. EMMMMJAYYYY! Do you want gum? You want me to get you some gum?” in the picture where she’s meeting his eyes. That first picture of the dunes is amazing and it was fun to see the little raccoon up close and personal- since he didn’t give US that opportunity!

Oh, and I busted up when you made the neighbor comment. Let’s just hope she’s not a subscriber. 😉

And lastly, Mone with the broccoli. Ahhhh, fulfilled.

Thanks for the pics of my beautiful grand girls! They are so pretty in their ballet shots. I need the one of the 3 together on my iPad screen shot!!! I also love the shot of Abbey. And oh, that sweet devilish smile of Sydney beats them all! What a killer!

These are my favorite types of posts. I get the whole she-bang that makes up your wonderful life. It really is sweet to see such a full, beautiful series of events. I’m blessed to take a peek in through cyberspace.

Thanks Aubrey, it’s not a perfect life by any means, but these g-babes sure make it more special!

One of my favorites as well … right after MJ and Sydney with the flowers. They are both going into frames.

There is some extreme cuteness taking place in these pictures. As always your photos are full of life and fun. Gosh you even made it look like Abi was enjoying her ballet performance!
