Laura is a friend from work with whom I share several similarities. One of those similarities is that we each have an older daughter and younger son … very close in ages. Her first grandchild (a boy) is one month older than my first grandchild (a boy). Her second grandchild is a girl and mine is a girl. Grandparenting — I am positive I will find nothing as rewarding in life as the little human creatures who rock my very core. I’m quite positive Laura feels the same. This is Ellie, daughter to Laura’s son Alex and his wife Jenni. She is healthy, happy, and an “itty bitty” weighing in at a hefty 8 pounds at two-and-a-half months after being born almost 6 weeks early. I asked if I could photograph her … for the practice … and found it to be much harder than I thought! I have a new appreciation for baby photographers! I was not very confident in some technique and creativity so have some reading up and practicing to do, but that said, how can any picture of a baby be bad?
Sleeping babies have to be the most precious, right?
Unless they wake up and smile … or have a gas bubble … whichever it is.
And then there’s naked babies wearing nothing but a bow.
And if you ask me, I think Ellie has a secret love of being naked! (Don’t tell her Daddy!)
Babies are just “big babies” sometimes and like to cry … but they are still just as cute and lovable. “Hush, little baby, Momma’s here.”
It’s when we have that special touch that make us Grandmas feel on top of the world. Laura’s got that touch.
Happy Mother’s Day (and Father’s Day) Jenni and Alex. What a beautiful sweet baby you have! Thank you for allowing me this privilege.
