Would you believe Cole is almost three weeks already! I know, I’ve been a slacker. Big Sister Sydney always says when she’s holding him “he’s so adorable I just want to squeeze his neck because I love him so much” (yes, we discourage the neck squeezing) but it’s true, he is adorable. :- ) He was born 9 days late and 55 minutes after Megan and Robby arrived at the Birthing Center — and have I mentioned that he was born in his birth sack? The midwives said that rarely happens and is supposed to be a good omen so of course this one is going to become an Olympic swimmer or something special — (like the others naturally are – duh!) (Birth details and 1st day’s homecoming can be seen here.) He was born 7 days after his cousin Gavin on the Gerichs’ side so they are going to have some fun growing up together! He’s a peeing machine, this one, and officially my hardest baby to photograph to date (my now 3-year old g-babe Jayden took that honor before him). Oh my, we were at it for hours and I barely got any variety (or so I thought at the time) because he kept waking up. Stinker … literally. The day we photographed him his belly button cord was close to falling off and ooohh-weee, did it stink! You’ll be happy to know it did fall off a few days later and he now smells like a sweet baby should. 🙂 We tried three times to photograph him with his dad, and three times he peed all over him (I put in one untouched image to prove my point) and I should say Robby handled it like the great dad he is — didn’t drop him or anything. Ha! Megan and I sure had a good laugh, especially of the black and white one where Robby is holding him in the air — Cole peed all done his arm. If I would have just taken the shot instead of running for a towel, it would have been classic. Pictures are but a moment in time. One moment it’s a sweet sleeping baby, and the next day they are 10 pounds bigger or five years older. Seriously, how does that happen?! I love you Cole — give your wonderful folks a hug for me. It looks like he’ll be blue eyed like his big sis Sydney with brown hair like his big sis Simone. Time will tell.
Yesterday (Wednesday June 4) Cole was 18 days old. The girls and Megan came over in the afternoon to hang out and Robby joined us later for dinner, so we decided to try a few more poses (because seriously, can I ever have enough?!) and Cole slept like a champ — sort of. Megan would pop her finger in his mouth then pop it out at the moment for the shot, and bingo, we got some other pictures! I also love the ones I got of Megan with her sweet boy (no in her words “perfect boy“). Check out his eyebrows how they are coming in dark after only a few weeks. And he sleeps with his mouth open just like I do. 🙂
This is how it goes sometimes in newborn photography. It’s rarely easy but so worth it in the end. I ordered the little hat and pants on Etsy and they took weeks to get here. I couldn’t figure it out because normally stuff arrives in a few days. I got a slip from the Post Office that I had a package I had to pick up there and couldn’t imagine what it could be. Well, it turned out to be this little knit set and it came from ROMANIA!
