Meet Mae, the daughter of my nephew, Kirk, and his sweet wife, Amy — shown here at just two-weeks old. Having never photographed a newborn before (officially as portraits), I asked if I could have the honor so they packed her up with brother Charlie and came to my house. My daughter came over to visit while they were there, walked in, took one look at Mae, and said “awww, I want one!!!” Oh, be still my heart, this baby was so sweet, but would you believe I never even held her! I thought about that later after they were gone, but I was so busy moving stuff around in my house trying to find this light or that light, changing out props and backgrounds, changing settings on my camera, all while knowing I had to be at work in a few hours, that I completely let it slip. She looked so little anyway — I’ll give her a few pounds then it’s my turn!
This is my dining room — yes it’s red. They say the color red makes a person hungry and I would have to agree. I think I’ve gained 15 pounds since I painted it this color! The green afghan was made by my sister Julie. Every marriage and baby gets one … same for my Cousin Becky who made the pink one towards the end of this post. I am proud to say I have such talented people in my family!
Meet Charlie, big brother extraordinaire! He was made for this big brother stuff and loves his little sister so much. The baby was eating, so we took a few minutes to get him in front of the camera. In this first picture he is looking up at his dad whom he adores. They are buds to say the least. He was there maybe a minute, if that, then was ready to go play again so I am stoked that I at least got two pictures of this sweet boy. He is now 2-1/2 and so smart and so funny.
And this is Charlie in full frontal handsomeness. He just got a new summer haircut and while he didn’t look like himself to me at first, he now looks just like he’s supposed to and I can’t imagine him looking any other way. Don’t you love his layered look? He is always such a snappy dresser, this kid.
This girl has her brother’s kissable lips. Sweet, sweet, sweet!
Okay, this next photo is a little soft in the focus … by bad for trying not to miss this dreamy expression and not being steady, but even so there was no way I was going to throw it out!
To me, Mae looks just like Charlie did when he was born — only a more feminine version.
Here’s the beautiful afghan I was telling you about earlier — made with love by Cousin Becky.
You know what the best part of having these photos done and posted is? I get to deliver the CD to Kirk and Amy and hold this baby!!!!!! And to my sister Linda, I think you have the cutest grandbabies in the world … right alongside mine! Love you sis. Mary xx
