Miss me? I miss you too. I was buried January and February with photo sessions (mostly behind the scenes doing commercial event photography that didn’t go on my blog) accompanied by such maddening computer problems that I was almost at my breaking point of throwing my computer off my apartment balcony. Almost. Eventually a few trips to the Mac store and the deletion of thousands of photos has helped, but I do see a new computer in my 2014 budget. Add to those time restraints the research into building, followed by the decision to build, followed by the beginning selection process of building and I’ve been a bit busy. Goodbye March — where did you go?!
So, I’ve barely picked up my camera this month with all the other things going on, but I have managed to sneek in a quick snapshot here and there of my four g-babes. What? You want to see them? Well … since you asked.
MJ is my oldest — he’s almost 4-1/2 and just got signed up for soccer and is soooo excited. I can’t wait to go watch him as I know this kid is a natural athlete. He is built tough and sturdy and oh so handsome. He’s loves writing letters and challenges himself until he perfects them. Like any of us, he can be a bit moody at times but seems to be turning a corner into happier less challenging times. When he gets in trouble and gets put in time out, he sits until he’s ready to talk it out with his folks or us. He goes into TO mad but eventually calls out in a chipper tune “I’m ready to talk now” and everything is good. I’m really impressed with his maturity in this way. Last week we watched the boys at our apartment and he and Grampa had an exchange that ended with MJ in a time out by the front door. Everything went as above then the boys and I went on to make cookies together (at MJ’s request). When the last of the dough was scraped out of the bowl, I washed Jayden (in his Flash cape) and told him he needed to get off the chair because we were done. He started to fake cry and ran off (cape flapping behind him — if only I had taken a picture!). A minute later I hear this little voice say “talk” and I found him sitting by the front door on his bottom. Oh my gosh, melt me. He turns two in a few weeks, has been potty trained for a month or more, puts several words together, and knows how to get a reaction when his brother does something to him. MJ and he were playing “Super something” with the paper ends off wire hangers. MJ — “accidentally” (of course) hit Jayden with it — causing Jayden to do the fake cry. My response was “you’re ok Jayden, just shake it off” to which he put his hand to his head, shook his head, then said “ok” and went off playing. I just want to freeze this little guy as he is so cute and sweet right now. So funny this one. MJ and he loves to play games on my iPad but Jayden is often more content just watching his big brother whom he adores.
Sydney at 4 years and 3 months, is changing by the minute into this little older person. I can’t explain it but she just seems so grown up and has the face of a young woman to me at times. She is growing her hair out for summer so maybe seeing her face more when it’s pulled back is the difference. She loves her little sister so much and Simone looks up to her and wants to do everything Syd does. As the apartment last week, Simone tooted and oh my, pee-youee. Sydney pipes up and says “I’ll take her potty Gramma. Come on Simone, wanna go potty? Come on I’ll take you. Come on, take my hand” (in her little baby talk bent over to Simone’s level). Simone took her hand and off they went. Syd took care of the whole job. Syd is still just as curious as always — wants to know every detail of what is going to take place before it takes place, and still, every time we are out, manages to get me to go by the yogurt shop and give her candy. I have gotten the joy of getting to pick her up from Pre-School two times now. The second time I took my camera and caught her reaction. I will turn any dark day to sunshine just by looking at that picture.
They both love playgrounds and Sydney’s tall and thin body gives the impression of someone much older. Simone turns two the end of April, just 3 weeks after Jayden. She too has been potty trained for months, puts 4-5 words together and cocks her head sideways, nods her head and says “aw-kay” when you ask or tell her something she agrees with. She does have another side however — I know because I brought it on by trying to speed up the nap time session before she was ready. Oh boy, was she ever mad at me! The last time I had her I learned to give her several reminders of nap time and she was an angel going down. Phew! See, you can teach an old Gramma new tricks! While Sydney wants to have a play companion, Simone is more than content to sit and play alone, talking and singing while she does. She is happy and sweet and loves to eat and recite nursery songs. Perhaps there will be a musician in the family one day?! I am so blessed by these four little beings.
Two year old birthdays will soon be upon us, at which time I hope to take some new family images of my kids so please check back. Spring is officially here and it will start to warm up more every week (my wishful thinking). I’d love the chance to spotlight your family photos on my blog sometime. Call me at 869-2820 or write firstname.lastname@example.org for an appointment.
