Kenzie and Macie

Ever been to Cottonwood? It’s beautiful there. Rolling hills of farmland and clear blue skies — normally. We went to visit friends recently and got the opportunity for a photo session with our friend’s grand girls who drove in from Lewiston. Sadly fires were raging in Kamiah, 20 miles north of Cottonwood, and many homes and out buildings were burned while we were there. The normal harvest season happened a month ago so fields were cut and dry. Smoke filled the air and winds were strong, particularly on the night of this session, but being our only opportunity, we moved forward with it. Never … NEVER … have I photographed in such strong winds before and most likely never will again. It was crazy windy!!! Kenzie is 7 and at the age where silliness in front of the camera was not something you put out there. She wanted to be proper and refined for me and as a 7 year old, took directions really well — when she could hear me over the howling wind that is. Such a sweet girl and so excited to start 2nd grade. Little sister Macie was somewhat the opposite because she’s 4. 🙂 She was silly and a little crazy and I loved that about her. (Reminded me of a few kids in my family.) The really cool part of this photo session was that we got to shoot at the farm where our friend Cheri grew up … a farm where Mike and I and our kids got to spend many 4th of July weekends when our kids were younger. It’s now owned by a cousin so they were gracious to let us go anywhere we wanted. Thanks again for the wonderful hospitality Pat and Cheri, and Katie, it was awesome seeing you and your beautiful girls again. I hope you told Waylon we missed seeing him! Love to all, Mary

Loved the pictures! Kenzie reminds me a little of Laura Ingalls from little house on the prairie. What a sweet girl. Macie is adorable. What a lot of spunk and personality that little one has. They are two beautiful girls. The location shots made you want to be there. Nice job Mary!!

Cheri told me about the planned photo session and how crazy windy it ended up being. However, even with that these are absolutely awesome pics! You definitely captured their personalities! Beautiful work Mary!

Mary, more marvelous work. The last few shots are my favorites — they take me back to Kansas.

Well you aren’t in Kansas anymore! We’re glad you’re in Boise.
