Meet Mr. Happy – Jaydee Bug who turned 5 months in September. If he’s not sleeping or eating, he’s usually smiling. He was 19 pounds at his 4 month check-up, has been rolling over since then, loves playing on his belly, and is soooo close to crawling it hurts (me, not him). He’s squishy with soft new hair, the roundest of blue eyes, still a mini-me of his dad’s looks, and so easy going. He’ll talk a blue streak if you get him going, and his newest antic — snorting out of his nose in rapid succession — makes me laugh every time. He looks at me and lights me up inside when he flashes that big drooly smile of his. Drooly because he’s got teeth in those gums, it’s just that they haven’t decided to make an entrance yet. It makes me a bit sad that as a grandparent we can’t logistically spend as much concentrated time on the succeeding g-babes as we could with the first — you know, those hours upon hours of being fully engaged with them one-on-one. Time just doesn’t play fair that way with grandparents (or even parents for that matter).
This month I got to babysit Jayden by myself as Mike was out of town, MJ had a play date to the car races with his Grammy Angie (an experience he loved), and the kids were on a date — yes a real date (and a night they loved). It was a win-win for all of us. I had so much fun with just Jayden and look forward to the next time. He is just the sweetest happiest boy and is so easy. He still spits up on everything and everyone, but a kid has to have some faults, right? When he smiles, I smile. Keep smiling Jayden! I love you! Now on to my September photos.
