If You Give a Mouse A Cookie

This is the happy face of a new 2-year old and her happy momma ready to embark upon an “If You Give A Mouse a Cookie” birthday party! You’ve read the book, right? The one that says “if you give a mouse a cookie, he’s going to ask for a glass of milk.  When you give him the milk, he’ll probably ask you for a straw.” And so it goes. Sydney loves that book. Loves. As in pages bent and torn from constant reading kind of love. From the Mouse Cookie invites, to the cookie cupcakes, to the mouse treats in the ice-cube trays, to the homemade cookie and milk carton tear-away bags for party favors, this party was a mousey success! Since Megan and Robby are still in an apartment until February, they had the party at Planet Kid for 9 kids and two babies plus the adults. I’d never been to Planet Kid before. Woah! Lots of excitement at that place with several parties going on at once, but it was organized and the kids had a ball running through the maze of balls, netting, slides, tubes, ropes … especially Robby. What a big kid he is and the other kids loved that he played “tag” and “keep away” through the jungle of mazes. Matt wasn’t far behind, weaving in and out of things to entertain the kids too. What lucky kids to have such great parents, and what lucky parents to have such great kids. For this blog, I have stuck with family photos, but you’ll get the link below to see more on Meg’s blog, so please do!

Here’s the Cookie Mouse, all decked out in some coveralls made by Megan. Apparently, when you buy Mouse, he comes nakedai (as Meg calls it) while he’s fully clothed in the book. What’s up with that? No matter, he’s a happy little rodent either way.

There was pizza for the adults and mouse treats for the kids, unless the kids wanted pizza too cause parties are all about fun and getting what you want, right?

See the cute mouse treat trays below. They were filled with all kinds of goodies — cheese, turkey, carrots, cucumber, raisins, crackers, grapes, snap peas, strawberries, nuts, etc. The kids ate them up — literally! And it seems MJ got a little affectionate with one of the guests. He likes them older apparently. He told his parents he had a “grill friend”.

And when it came time to blow out the candle on the cookie cupcake, it took a little while, but Sydney succeeded then devoured the cupcake. She doesn’t get sweets very often so I think she figured she’d better not waste time while the opportunity presented itself!

I took the opportunity to hand off my camera to get in one picture and can I just say I love it. Is that just the cutest grin on Syd’s face proclaiming “these are my grampa and gramma!” I love that kid.

And when the party is over, and the guests are going home, while mommy and daddy clean up, it’s a wonderful opportunity for a little birthday girl to sit and love on Mouse, have another cookie, and just chill. “Hey mom, have you got a glass of milk?”

It is a wonder you got so many great shots in that place! It is kind of a photographers worse nightmare. Love the picture with the grandparents, she is beaming! And those treat trays? Brilliant!

Well Aubrey, I didn’t get good pictures (in my opinion). It WAS hard. I was running two cameras … one with flash and one without. I usually always bounce flash from the ceiling but the ceilings were black so lots of pics were burned out. I got some blurring without flash. It was a challenge and now that I have done it, I would like “overs” to do better. Think Meg would go for it?
