Hoedown!

My husband is lucky enough to have a really cool cousin that throws some really cool parties so that other cool cousins and friends can come! This was their 2nd Annual Hoedown and while I thought I might leave my camera alone and just take in the party, I soon realized I couldn’t possibly miss all this action! First off, there was a rib cooking contest between 6 master BBQ guys and all I can say is watch out Guy Fieri┬ábecause you’ll be wanting to bring your show to this place next year! This is their backyard, big enough to hold everyone and their neighbor. Wait! I think their neighbors were there.

I took mostly family pictures so will pass on the introductions and show you some of my favorite shots. You’ll notice I tried to get a little artsy with some. Some worked better than others, but I keep plugging away at trying to learn Photo Shop better, and well, these photos just lended themselves to some of the vintage looking effects.

Darn, I wasn’t going to do introductions, but this cousin’s grandson is just a sweet heart. His name is Jackson and he was so kind to all the littler kids. I got a kick out of him and his stories about why the neighbor dog might be barking.

I learned something new in that Cousin Cathy can play the guitar and was actually pretty good! Who knew! Not me. You’ll be seeing more of her in a month because we’ll be making a trip to Yelm, WA to visit.

This next photo is of a native Nashville artist, Larry Dean, who now lives in Middleton. He and the Canyon County Commissioner, David Ferdinand (picture to follow) threw down a pretty great country sound. There were several other wonderful musicians in the mix. Great job guys. Loved it.

Now, this was the other revelation I had … finding out that Wade plays a mean harmonica. Seriously, he just jumped in whenever the band asked him to like he’d been playing country music all his life. Hmmm, maybe he has.

Tony and Shay play a pretty serious volleyball game which makes it hard to know who to root for when they’re both in the family!

For those who don’t know, this next picture is “the” cousin, Jonette (her husband was the volleyball player). She is one of the funnest people you’ll ever know with a hearty laugh and a heart the size of Texas. She is so good at everything she does and trust me, she does. Thank you Jonette, the party was wonderful!

What’s not to love about these next two pictures. A girl with a Kool-Aid stained smile and a bright peace sign is hard for a camera to resist!

This is Larry and he and his wife JoAnn have been friends of our cousins for a very long time so we get to see them at all the parties. Larry is now retired and loving having a little farm with some horses and he was kind enough to gather some up for the kids to ride. Need I say they were a huge hit! Thank you Larry. You make a nice cowboy.

We were pretty proud of MJ (now 20 months). When PaPa asked him if he wanted to ride a horse he was ready to go! He didn’t want to get off! He makes a pretty cute city-slicker don’t you agree?

Signing off now from Yours Truly, the fastest camera in the West. Watch out Wyatt Burp, I’m comin’ to get ya.

Oh, I’m giggling to myself right now…that last picture is the best EVER. I can just hear your “Howdy Pardner” accent coming thru the screen.

Mary I look at your web page several times a week. And your pictures are awesome. I cannot say which one I like better because they are so unique. You have a great talent and each day it is getting better and better. Keep up the good work. (But my favorites are of your grandbabies)
