Happy New Year Birthday!

My granddaughter is a New Year’s baby, born in Hawaii two years ago. Having Megan, Robby, and Sydney move back home in April is one of the greatest joys of 2011. The other greatest joy is already having Matt, Danielle, and MJ live here. I can’t even put into words the blessings of having them all close, giving the cousins that wonderful opportunity of growing up together. My two greatest joys of 2012 will be my next two grandkids, both due in April, just three days apart. We’re having an “o boy” on the Mouser side (see Jayden’s post here) and an “oh, I wonder what it will be?” baby on the Gerichs side. I’ve already bought my new 50mm 1.4 lens and a bean bag puck (for posing) so get ready for lots of newborn shots!

Sydney’s “If you Give a Mouse a Cookie” birthday party is next weekend and photos will follow of the big event, but here she is before Christmas with her family and future brother or sister.

Syd and MJ are either the best of friends or the worst of friends, depending on the moment in a two-year-old’s life. Much of the time they love to hold hands and wrestle, and when they do? … well, let’s just say Syd can hold her own.

MJ may be older (by two months), but Sydney has him by an inch or two.

When the kids arrived at our house on Christmas morning, it was as if to say “What! I have to open more presents!”

Grampa bought both kids toys from Cabella’s. Sydney, in particular, loves to entertain herself with little toys and figurines, moving things about, or putting things in and out of small spaces.

We bought the kids art easels for Christmas and on one side is a wipe-off board, on the other a chalk board, up through the middle you can pull paper to draw on, and below are colorful bins for storing stuff. MJ immediately wanted to paint so I put a little apron on him and away he went. Sydney sat behind the easel and put the above pictured nativity figurines into all the bins. Everyone has fun in their own way at our house! MJ’s a budding artist with a serious side as you can see.

But he ‘s an actor with a silly side as well.

This little blog has reached out to so many of my friends and family … and a few strangers along the way as well. I love when you come to visit! And since you’re here, if you haven’t signed up for new posts, why not take a minute to do it now. Just type your e-mail address in the box at the right, and any new posts will come directly to your e-mail. Seriously people, are you sure you want to risk missing pictures of  a “If you Give a Mouse a Cookie” Birthday party! I didn’t think so! “Happy New Year everyone! Love, Mary

Every time I see pictures of your family I realize just how precious life is and what a blessing God has granted to us! Kids and grandkids are our inheritance…what a truly awesome way to honor the Lord and to have a legacy for future generations to come. I was thinking of Hebrews and the great cloud of witnesses that went before us…..what a great “cloud” you and Mike are going to be for these precious wee ones! And Happy New Year too….
