You have a new baby and life starts anew … you go about getting to know this bundle of joy and you think they will be this size forever … they are so tiny after all. Errcch! Only weeks pass and you look at this little being that no longer sleeps quite as long as they did, who starts to plump in all the right places, starts to crack a smile, maybe coo, and you think “Where did my newborn go?!” It’s true. Ask Jenny and Roman who called me asking if 3-1/2 weeks was too late for newborn pictures. (Big sister, Marlies, was one of the first babies I photographed after starting Fairly Candid. My style has evolved a bit but you can see her pictures here.) My response to Jenny’s question was “It’s never too late for pictures!” 🙂 With company arriving to visit them (Oma and Opa from Austria who gifted 20 month old Marlies her beautiful dress), we scheduled when Erik was five weeks old — still itty bitty, and such a handsome little man with lots of expression. He was born March 27 at 5:28 pm, weighed 7.2 pounds then, and was a squeezable 10 pounds at our appointment. Congratulations to all in this wonderful family!
