32 Day Photo Challenge. Day 26: Toy.
With four g-babes and four other young kids in the family, there was no shortage of toys unwrapped on Christmas day at our family celebration (of 24 adults and 8 kids)! We got to my daughter’s house in the morning with breakfast and gifts in hand to celebrate with just them before the rest of the family/friends were to arrive at their house at 3:00 for dinner and more gift-giving. (It was their first year to host and it was wonderful! Thank you Megan and Robby!) Sydney is big into playing “little girls” so a doll house seemed the appropriate gift, only we had a big surprise when the box was opened and inside were pieces and parts and screws galore. So as not to disappoint one little almost three year old, Grampa and Daddy spent over an hour screwing and snapping about 45 pieces to the most wonderful doll house you could imagine before the other guests were to arrive. Heck it even had an elevator and a spiral staircase, not to mention a fenced yard and a balcony! There was a bunch of furniture that came with it, some of which included a piano that played music, a toilet that flushed, a couch and bed big enough for a family of 6, a lamp that turned on, a big bathtub … geez, come one, where were these fun things when I was growing up?! (Ok, I was a tomboy and didn’t play dolls, but that’s beside the point. What is the point is that I sure enjoy playing dolls with the kids now.) You probably want to see the finished product, but I didn’t take a picture of that. Why? I’m sparing you … from doll house envy!I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with something extra special under your tree.
