Cole Isaac Gerichs

Welcome to our newest family addition — Cole Isaac! He took his sweet time coming being that he was 9 days overdue but that really wasn’t a surprise to our family as Sydney was 7 days overdue and Simone 14 days overdue. Sydney was beside herself with excitement. When I called to check on Megan Saturday morning Sydney answered the phone saying “Gramma Gramma, mommy says Cole is coming today or tomorrow or today — oh I don’t know!” We all went to our friend Angie’s going away party Saturday afternoon (where Sydney told friend and stranger alike that “Baby Cole is coming out tonight”) and so we took the girls home with us after that while Megan hoped the contractions she had been having would speed up. They eventually did (after miles of walking on Saturday and Sunday) and Sunday night little Cole was born. After what they considered about 4-5 hours of hard labor, they arrived at the birthing center at 9:00 PM and at 9:55 PM he was born. Then around 1:00 AM they were back at their home ready for some sleep. After the girls got up in the morning at our house we scampered over to meet him. Sydney had been asking for the past two days if Cole was out yet, and each time I had to explain that it can take a while to have a baby. She wanted to meet him soooo badly. When she held him she just giggled and said things like “he is just so adorable”, “I don’t think I’ll ever want to play with my friends when they come over”, “now when I play baby I can just use Baby Cole”, “aww, he is just so cute”, “I just want to call all my friends and tell them Baby Cole is out.” When Sydney would ask if Cole came out, Simone would sometimes just say “I told her Baby Cole did not come out.” Here’s the perfect little guy between 10-12 hours when we got to meet him. Congratulations Megan and Robby for being the wonderful team that you are. You sure make beautiful babies! Congratulations Sydney and Simone, both of whom are going to be the most doting Big Sisters ever! And congratulations Cole because you sure won the lottery with this happy family! Love from one proud Gramma and Grampa. XXO
