Sierra – Part II [2013 Senior]

I first met Sierra, a high school senior, on November 10, 2012 when we shot her first session. Wanting a change, I was asked to photograph her with much longer and much lighter colored hair (with no bangs) before she would get approximately 5″ cut off and go back to her natural darker color. So […]

I love her dark hair! My favorite picture is the one of her under the tree reading her book. I had no clue she knew so many languages!

Tracey - April 26, 2013 - 7:32 AM

Sierra is so pretty with dark hair. Love the pictures! Wish she would of had the dark hair in the first go around. Lovely young woman!

I have to tell you that I had a blast doing this session the day after Christmas when it was only 29 degrees out side. The snowy cloud cover gave such beautiful diffusion and the slightly falling snow was an added bonus. I can’t even fathom that I was out in that cold for an […]

First off…I want that bomber jacket- she is rockin’ it. Love those gorgeous blue eyes (or were they green?) with that brown hair…sometimes I think that’s what Syd will look like when she’s older…brown hair and killer eyes.

The first pic is my favorite- what a flirtly little look. And how fun to do them in the snow! At least it was a little snow, not like the inches we’re getting today!!!

Sierra [2013 Senior]

Meet Sierra, a senior who is breaking down her session into two parts — before and after haircut! She says she’s ready for a change so she is cutting her hair this week! I’ve never met Sierra before our session, but I know it must take courage on her part to cut something that has […]

Bailee [2013 Senior]

I might have been just a bit nervous when I woke up in the wee hours of the morning to hear rain. I was to meet Bailee at 8:30 that morning for her senior pictures but luckily the rain stopped and we had the most wonderful diffused light to work with! I’d never met Bailee — […]

Bailee - October 22, 2012 - 10:39 PM

These are amazing! Thank you sooooo much for doing my photos for me!!! My mom and I had so much fun with you, and the pictures are just awesome!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!

Megan - October 23, 2012 - 7:44 AM

Hello GORGEOUS blue eyes!!! This looked like a fun shoot- I loved the park bench one, the swings with that awesome dress, and I thought the blue wall with the water on the ground and her reflections were amazing. Such a natural smile- the laughing ones captured what I expect to be a fun and bubbly personality.

Tracey - October 23, 2012 - 7:48 AM

Mary, Bailee is BEAUTIFUL!!! Love the pictures. What a great time of year to have pictures taken. The colors were great! You would never know she wasn’t a model. You both did a great job if I say so myself.

Hannah - October 23, 2012 - 2:06 PM

These are absolutely amazing! You captured my sweet cousin beautifully! Bailee looks fantastic 🙂 Nice work once again Mary!

Your Man - October 23, 2012 - 4:25 PM

What beautiful blue eyes. You really captured her beauty. Nice job.

Charly [2013 Senior]

You know that anxious feeling you get just before doing something new and different … wondering if you’ll be good at it? Charly, a senior at Skyview, was nervous about the photo session, but after a few minutes of guiding her with her poses — and a few picture playbacks for her to see what a […]

Mary, I don’t know which one I like the most. I love the fall leaves in the back ground but I like the railroad tracks and then theres the water and the plain back ground and the window with her reflection. You took some very beautiful pictures with a very beautiful subject. You’re right her eyes are so blue and her hair was so perfect. What a wonderful time you must of had with Charly. Congratulations Charly and have a wonderful Senior Year.

Fairly Candid - October 4, 2012 - 1:22 PM

Tracy, thank you so much for that wonderful comment! Charly, Tracy and other co-workers of mine have verbally mentioned how photogenic and beautiful you are. Naturally, I agreed! Mary

Megan - October 4, 2012 - 2:28 PM

Scootch over Hollenbaugh and Zeurcher, there’s a new camera lady in town and WOWZA- she’s stiff competition!!! I am amazed at these- they are by far your best Senior yet. LOVED the originality in the first photo where she is holding her Kindergarten (?) picture and the wheel was awesome, as was the one between two big cylinders and on and on. Love all the amazing backdrops you do- you can tell you do your “scoping” homework and your clients are so lucky that they get unique, original places. Nice work Mama.

Jami - October 4, 2012 - 8:29 PM

OH MY GOSH!!!! Mary these are priceless! This is going to take us forever to pick the ones we want to mount. I have a feeling we are going to need a whole wall of our house dedicated to these. You did an amazing job of capturing my daughter’s personality and nature. I’ve recommended you to everyone I know. You made this monumental event so memorable and now we have the pictures to last a life time. One of my favorites is where she is tossing the water in the air, not because of Charly particularly, but just how you capture the water drops and her beautiful smile all in one shot. We can’t thank you enough!

Mickie - October 5, 2012 - 8:02 AM

Mary and Jami- These are wonderful! Jami- what a beautiful girl you have!!! Mary- These are just amazing! I want to have Averi’s done at these locations!!! Wow!!!

Nathan [2013 Senior]

Nathan is a Columbia High Senior focused on all the right things … school, baseball, and computers. He stands 6’3″, plays pitcher and shortstop, and has a great serious look that I just loved. When I told him this, he said “I have to have a serious look … I’m a pitcher … it’s good […]

You hit the ball outta the park, Mom. (No pun intended…wink, wink) Love 1, 3 and 4 the best. Awesome serious look and I love all the random angles you use…I’m trying to pay more attention to that. 😉 Senior boys- add it to your awesomely-done list.

Fairly Candid - September 27, 2012 - 10:55 PM

Thanks Meg, I’m glad you said your favorites because I was so dang excited about that little red out building with the weeds. I knew when I took them that they would be some of my favorites. It was nice having a guy to shoot for a change too — and such a cool one. 🙂 Thanks for your sweet comments.

Becky Hamilton - October 2, 2012 - 12:02 PM

Great job, Mary. I enjoy seeing the different settings and poses you use. You have done a admirable job refining your skills. Keep the pictures coming.

Fairly Candid - October 2, 2012 - 8:24 PM

Thank you Becky. That really means a lot coming from you … I appreciate it very much. 🙂

Vern and Kathy Emerson - October 7, 2012 - 1:48 PM

awesome pictures of our Grandson Nathan. You our special to us.

danielle - October 16, 2012 - 1:41 PM

Great pictures!! I’m Nathan’s aunt and all these serious looks kind of cracked me up! I especially love the one you got with his mom (my sister) in it – made me a little teary-eyed.

Fairly Candid - October 16, 2012 - 1:47 PM

How funny. I liked the peek of mom’s face in the picture too. I would have taken some of them all together but I had them put to work! 🙂

I-YI-YI, My Brain Hurts

Okay, so the new site is up and running but I still have a few bugs to work out. Seriously, does everything have to be so difficult to learn! As for this week, here’s a little sneaky-peeky of what I’ve been up to. Two new beginnings … a high school senior and a newborn baby. Neither will […]

LOVE that she is standing in water- so original. Whose idea?

And those baby lips? Ridiculous!

Aubrey - August 11, 2012 - 9:11 AM

Keep going Mary! Everything looks SO great and the pictures are on point, as always. I am so excited for the new look, probably because I didn’t have to do any of the work 😉 Hang in there!

Amanda Blue (Eyes That Is)

These are fantastic! Amanda will be so pleased. Thank you so much, Mary! You have such a gift. 😀

Megan - April 4, 2012 - 6:40 AM

Here’s my blog love:

There aren’t too many people who can pull off a closed and opened smile and have them be equally amazing. The messy hair up in the first two is my favorite- that look that so many people strive for…messy but controlled and you probably just whipped it up without thinking twice. The red lips are rockin, and I’m a bit jealous that I will never be able to wear that color.

My favorite three shots are the 2nd and the 4th ones- I love the hand placement and the casualness of them. I also love the one that is just a close up that seems to be turned sepia with the lips left red (?) – don’t know, but the color wash is cool and so is the angle.

Paula - April 4, 2012 - 7:53 AM

I like all of the shots! Especially the full smiles and the sepia. Wow!!!

stephen zahniser - April 4, 2012 - 8:01 AM

I believe you,Mary, captured the girl we all have known these many, but few, years. My favorite is the picture of Amanda by the quotation, which I believe is how Amanda challenges us, not only the words, but her facial expression. I also like her on the fence post, and the one that is almost a black and white. Truly amazing photos of a truly amazing girl with a truly amazing future.
steve - April 4, 2012 - 8:37 AM

What great comments from both of you that Amanda will love as well. I appreciate the opportunity you gave me to spend time with her. I hope she has as much fun as I did. Mary

Louis McCabe - April 6, 2012 - 10:22 AM

Amanda, how beautiful you are, especially with the tree in the background. But, of course, you were beautiful yars ago when I visited you at your home in Sherdian. Congratulations on your graduation. Best of everything in your next endeavors. Uncle Lou McCabe - April 6, 2012 - 7:12 PM

Dang girl your inner beauty is shining right through in all of these shots. My very favorite is the close upof your face leaning on the fence. Gorgeous doesn’t even begin to describe these. i love you and miss you so much. Thanks for sharing these pictures.

You did great- and you two do have a lot in common! I liked the serious face with the freak alley pictures the best. Will be interesting to hear his (and his girlfriends’) favorites! - September 14, 2011 - 7:49 AM

I agree … love the alley shots with all that fun color … and his blue shirt … and that macho look of his. Good job James.

Linda Johnston - September 14, 2011 - 8:31 AM

These were sooo good. I think James did a fine job of following instructions–however, how could you not take great pictures of such a good, handsome young guy. Congrats to James on his senior year and hurray for Mary for a job very well done.

Linda Johnston - September 14, 2011 - 8:33 AM

By the way, I also LOVE the pictures in Freak Alley!

Roberta Johnston - September 14, 2011 - 2:32 PM

Ditto to what Megan and Linda said…..The blue shirt in the Freak Alley… totally awesome! Love the shot of Boise High too, and I have that in common with you and James too, and by the way Mary, anyone from Boise High is cool, so don’t forget that, us Braves have got to stick together! It will be tough for James to pick the pictures he likes as they are all turned out so good, I would say your first senior portrait sesson was a huge success…here’s to many, many more….Hey Seniors out there, wise up, Mary Mouser IS WAY COOL! (: - September 14, 2011 - 2:42 PM

I just read the last line over and over and over and over. I think I’m starting to believe! Thanks for the laugh Roberta.
