I Heart Faces | People's Choice Photo Challenge This is Jessica with her Kool-Aid smile. Remember those from when you were a kid? Cousin Jonette had a great “Hoedown” this summer with all kinds of fun activities and Jess was actually waiting at the gate for her turn to ride the horses. Photos are great, but horsey rides … come on … […]

I Heart Faces Photo Challenge | White “White Cake” My mom is still full of vin and vinegar. If we invite her over for dinner she always brings a homemade pie or cake so what better time than this challenge to have her give her great-grandbabies (now 20 and 22 months) a lesson in baking a “White” Cake. This was at the […]

I Heart Faces Photo Challenge | Pets “Gramma, how much is that doggy in the window?” A few months ago we babysat our grandson and wanted to do something special … you know, a bit out of the ordinary … but what? He came over in his camo pants and shirt, went to the hat box, picked out this safari hat, […]

Beth - The Botut Blog - August 21, 2011 - 9:27 PM

Love it! This reminds me of when all of mine were that age. The pet store was one of our favorite places to spend hours of our day (in winter). I just wish someone would’ve cautioned me against actually bringing the pets home as the kids got older and more convincing in their requests! I would’ve saved myself from turtles, hamsters, frogs, geko, bunnies, fish….I haven’t crossed the bird or snake line and Do Not plan to!!

I guess the truth is that I am an animal lover at heart and did not require much convincing! - August 21, 2011 - 9:32 PM

You were obviously a very good mom … we had our limits but did have the hermit crabs, hamsters, and fish. I was big into turtles as a kid and killed one in my pocket when I took it to the grocery store against my mom’s orders. I got to wrestling in the back seat of the car with one of my sisters and oops, forgot about it. So sad. Lesson learned.

Life with Kaishon - August 21, 2011 - 10:45 PM

What an awesome shot to get inside of a pet store! Mine are always as blurry as can be inside of the pet store. LOVE this : )

michelle currier - August 22, 2011 - 5:29 AM

Great shot!!!

Jeanna Marie - August 22, 2011 - 8:34 AM

Niki - August 22, 2011 - 9:21 AM

What an amazing shot! It tells such a great story!

Donna - August 22, 2011 - 6:00 PM

What is funny to me is that the window etching seems to indicate the pup’s expletive at this tiny tot with a funny hat pointing at him!

Petra - August 22, 2011 - 6:52 PM

This is such a sweet photo. The expression on that dog’s face is so great! I would have never made it home without the dog. 🙂

anita johnson - August 23, 2011 - 7:50 PM

They look like a match made in heaven. I can’t go near pet stores, the dogs just tug at my heart. Great shot1

lisa - August 24, 2011 - 8:53 PM

Mini-Renne - August 26, 2011 - 10:37 PM

Western Idaho Fair Entries 2011

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! It was an exciting day for my mom and I at the Western Idaho Fair. We both earned ribbons on our entries — mine in photography and my mom’s in quilting (Senior Division). Last year was my first year competing and with the maximum number of three entries per person, I took home three […]

WOW!!! Congratulations! That’s so cool that you got a 1st place on the picture you weren’t sure WHERE to put but knew you needed to put SOMEWHERE!

GO Grandma!!! I bet she was tickled pink and purple!!!

LoraLee - August 20, 2011 - 9:56 PM

Way to go Mary!!!! Your pictures were awesome, loved the three kids!! Your mother is unbelievable. I can’t imagine making that quilt all by hand. Please give her our congratulations. I love your comments almost as much as seeing all of your beautiful photography! Love You Babe, LoraLee

Cathie Alonzo - August 21, 2011 - 5:39 PM

Congrats Mary and to your mom, too. Such a lot of talent you have!!

Kathy Grover - August 21, 2011 - 6:48 PM

How’s it feel to be a WINNER ? I went to the fair the first night and had the attendant help me find your pix. I started hopping around and singing WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER! But make a mental note for next year: get advice from Kathy, do the opposite, and get ready to collect your prize. - August 21, 2011 - 7:50 PM

Too funny … cause I was hopping around too! Mental note for next year … continue to listen to my good friend’s critique … and give them more choices! - August 21, 2011 - 7:51 PM

Thanks Lora Lee! I read your message to my mom, who I might add is not like me … she’s much more humble as she didn’t even jump around when she heard she won! Thanks for subscribing to my blog Lora Lee. Hope things are calming down for you guys. Love ya, Mary

lsj4157 - August 21, 2011 - 8:10 PM

Oh, now I HAVE to go to the fair! I can’t wait to see all those awards, I might jump around and squeal as well! So well deserved of all (those ladies in their 80’s ROCK). I know you love taking pictures, now do you believe you have the talent we all have told you about all these years? - August 21, 2011 - 9:12 PM

I LOVE my friends and family! Thanks for all your encouragement!

Beth - The Botut Blog - August 21, 2011 - 9:33 PM

Great job! I loved that photo the first time you posted it. I laughed out loud and it made my day. Congrats winner!

And that quilt…..I want one on my bed!!! I love quilts and am very impressed with Aunt Jo’s ability! Wow, some women just have a little more women gene! - August 21, 2011 - 9:35 PM

I’ll tell mom … you never know … you just might get one. She has made three since Christmas! My mom is a “real woman” too. I love that woman! She bakes, she irons, she sews, she quilts and is humble to boot.

Leesha - August 26, 2011 - 4:29 PM

Congrats to you!!! I love that photo of Haystack rock…really, really lovely!! I was going to enter in to the WIF this year too, but it crept up on me and before I knew it it was too late! darn it. But im sooo happy you placed, your entries totally deserved it!

Julie - September 5, 2011 - 10:12 AM

Mary, I knew you had a winner with the Bee and the Bachelor photo!! Congrats! You do awesome work!

I Heart Faces Photo Challenge | Beautiful Eyes The challenge is “Beautiful Eyes” and yes, my 20-month old granddaughter has some killer steel-blue ones, but she says more with her eyes shut that anyone possibly could with theirs wide-open. Linda Johnston - August 15, 2011 - 8:35 AM

She clearly relishes life–and food! I think the passion she has runs in the family, gramma. What a wonderful picture, what a cutie patootie. Megan is right you are a wonderful gramma. I knew you would be. - August 15, 2011 - 11:23 AM

[the passion she has runs in the family] Yes, the passion for food DOES run in our family … and some of us even like relish. 😉 Love ya, Mary - August 15, 2011 - 11:24 AM

I knew you’d like it … told you it was a good one of that sweet thing. Love, MOM/Gramma

I Heart Faces Photo Challenge | Whimsical

Visit to see more photos of whimsy. One of Webster’s descriptions is “acting or behaving in a capricious manner” and if you don’t know what capricious is (cause I didn’t), it’s “given to sudden and unaccountable changes of mood or behavior.” We were invited to a “Hoe Down” this weekend and this little guy’s […]

Love the Photo. And I know what your talking about how ones mood can change with a horse around. I had a horse when I was growing up and my mood was very different when I was around my horse. I love the lightness of your photo and the expression of boy melts my heart.

Dreaming Hollow Photography - June 28, 2011 - 7:59 AM

This is such a beautiful image….love the light, the little boy and the mood of a beautiful sunny summers day! Sorry you are having trouble using your textures in PS Elements. You are welcome to e-mail me. I used to have elements (now have CS5) and know it can sometimes be a little tricky. Have a great day and hope you frame this lovely photo!
