Downtown Boise

I work downtown and I love that. We have the most beautiful downtown business and shopping district than most cities around — hands down. I often carry my camera to work, taking opportunity of breaks and lunch hours to find things that interest me. Here are a few of my favorites. Outside the Grove Parking […]

Haha I knew some of those people from the hair school one guy worked at my school when I was there!

Kathy Grover - March 23, 2011 - 12:28 AM

I think I am going to work harder on convincing you to set up a Flickr account and tag these photos with “Boise.” Then even more people could see your extraordinary work. But meanwhile, this has made my day.

Megan - March 23, 2011 - 12:43 AM

How fun to see some of the sights I had forgotten about! Now to see them in person in two short weeks! Eek!!! 🙂

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - March 23, 2011 - 9:07 AM

That is so sweet Kathy, and this will surprise you, but I did set up a Flickr account briefly for the friends portraits as I submitted one of Linda’s in the Kodak Gallery contest. Before I do anything more, however, I need to learn how to do an effective watermark (hint, hint).

Wow Mary, these are really excellent–OF COURSE. I get so used to seeing things that I don’t really SEE them or marvel in their beauty. Through your lens the beauty of the moment, the person or the object shines all on its own without the distraction of its surroundings. The landscapes and skylines are breathtaking. Thanks for recording the beauty of our little corner of God’s world.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - March 23, 2011 - 9:27 AM

Wow, wasn’t expecting that Linda, but thanks. We’ve all been to a few downtown cities in our lives and those of us here know we have one of the cleanest and most vibrant. Between two jobs this is my 16th year of working in the heart of downtown and I love it!

Paradise Lost or Paradise Found?

They say Hawaii is Paradise. Could be. Maybe. But for how long? 1 year? 2 years? Nope. 3.and.one.half.years. People, it’s happening. (Mother screaming loudly) “IT’S HAPPENING!” They’re moving home! H-O-M-E! As in the same city and state where we live. Yeh, I’m a little excited. We just found out two nights ago … the night before […]

Paradise: a place in which existence is positive, harmonious and timeless. It’s not lost, nor found…it simply is my life! 🙂

Love you and can’t wait to see you!!!

Diane D. wrote (under a different post): “Very cute pictures. Love the camo babies. — I am glad you family will be all together in Idaho.”

YIPPEEEEEEE! I am so thrilled for you guys 😀

March Snow

It was a long miserable few days after a nasty stomach bug swarmed the family this weekend. We were still recouping but waking up to snow seemed to make me feel better and happy for the moment. It was so pretty coming down so thick and white.   The last few times it snowed was only […]

Brrrr! I’m cold just looking at the snow! I preferred the first blur picture best- liked how it looked like rain. So, is it back to pretty March weather again?

botut - March 10, 2011 - 8:31 PM

I think you better check your temp because I highly suspect fever induced delirium….”waking up to snow seemed to make me feel better and happy for the moment.” What???? Really??? Well then, please, please, please take some of our snow away! I’m ready for some warmth and Vitamin D.

You Watching Me Watching You

I don’t consider myself a wildlife photographer by any means. My longest lens is only 135mm for goodness sakes, but anyone that lives in Idaho knows that deer are a common sighting, often in people’s own backyard. Those people would consider them a pest since they eat everything in sight and pokes holes in new […]

Wow. How amazing to have him watching you watch him. I agree, looks like a boy. Beautiful!!!

botut - February 17, 2011 - 7:08 AM

We have a ton of deer roaming through our yard. It seems they love what I try to grow in my garden. Somehow your pictures inspire me to permit them to devour my hard work. Too cute.

amandapfeifer - February 24, 2011 - 8:50 AM

gorgeous landscapes!

Barber Pool and Bald Eagle Day

I went to “Bald Eagle Day” which was presented by the Idaho Bird Observatory in cooperation with the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, Golden Eagle Audubon Society and the Idaho Shakespeare Festival. While this 700 acre nature reserve called ‘Barber Pool’ is a winter home to many roosting bald eagles, not one was to […]

Dead Drab of Winter

This is Saturday and while my desk top still awaits me, I figure it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. I was in the mood to be outside.  It’s b-r-r-r cold today, and this morning, well, it was even colder and it was thick with fog.  There’s something to be said for fog, especially in the […]

Wow- nice job on making drab winter look absolutely inviting and gorgeous. Where was the picture of the bridge taken?

fairlycandid - January 24, 2011 - 12:37 PM

It’s on Eagle Road at Lake Moor – a new subdivision they are still devloping. We went for a long drive Sunday morning to Arrowrock Dam with Grandma and I was hoping for a nice photo, but pulled out the camera and the battery was dead. Oops.

Aubrey Archuleta - January 24, 2011 - 2:01 PM

It looked like you were in Europe or something far off like it. Beautiful shots, as always.

Hawaii Sights

The above picture was taken from the 41st Penthouse Suite of Megan and Robby’s building overlooking Honolulu.  The kids live on the 14th floor so while they have a view, it’s not like this! While in Hawaii, we took a nature walk almost every day and one morning we got a rare sighting when a […]

Hawaii always looks so much different through your lenses…more beautiful. Funny how you can look at these pictures without ever being here and think- ‘WOW…that place is so gorgeous’…and then you get here and see all the junks everywhere!

Hawaii: Marathon Madness

In the last post I told you that my husband surprised the kids with his visit to Hawaii. Well, part of the reason for doing that was so that he could join us in watching our daughter run her second marathon – 26.2 miles — on December 12.   We are extremely proud and impressed with […]

Well, gee, thanks Ma. 😉 Gosh, reliving it through this post makes me even more glad that it’s over!!! It was so wonderful having you here to experience it and root me on…and now to have such cool pics to look at- thank you!

Aubrey Archuleta - December 30, 2010 - 12:51 AM

Yea, what to say about this insanity! Having a bay is a marathon in itself! You go Megs! You are amazing 🙂

Aubrey Archuleta - December 30, 2010 - 12:52 AM

*baby* not bay, although that would be challenging too 😉

Hawaii: Ko'Olina

The kids took mom and I to a new place I’d never been … to Ko’Olina Beach Park which is on the southwest part of the island.  There are resorts all around but this is a tiny public beach sandwiched in.  It has parking for about 8 cars and if you are lucky, like us, you […]

How amazing!! I think I would scream if the turtles were that close to me though. Beautiful pictures as always!

Aubrey Archuleta - December 13, 2010 - 10:15 PM

JEALOUS. So jealous. And…lookin’ good Granny! 😉

botut - December 14, 2010 - 5:16 PM

I love turtles – how awesome! What great photos!!!

fairlycandid - December 16, 2010 - 8:16 PM

Gosh, can you believe the entire two weeks is already here and gone? 🙁 At least we are left with awesome memories and some AMAZING photos. Love you Mom!

Aloha from Hawaii!

The cold and snow hit Boise, so my mom and I headed for warmer weather — Honolulu, Hawaii!  Okay, we had it planned before the snow fell, but it sure was good timing on our part!  We’re here visiting my daughter, son-in-law, and adorably sweet, funny, smart, cute granddaughter, Sydney, of 11 months.  She met us at […]

Love it! So jealous, I wish I could escape to Hawaii 😉 And your mom! Wow, she looks great.

fairlycandid - December 7, 2010 - 6:58 AM

I’d be jealous too if I was home in the cold and snow. It’s beautiful here and Mom and I are having so much fun with Sydney. What a silly sweet girl she is. I gave your compliment to my mom — thank you.
