Day 12: Sweet

32 Day Photo Challenge. Day 12: Sweet. Nothing I could bake or buy could be sweeter than life’s little moments and here’s one of mine. Sydney Reece Gerichs at the age of 2 years, 11 months, and 10 days. She came home with us Sunday night after the Progressive Dinner and went home Monday night […]

My favorite day of the challenge thus far. 😉

Love the sweet description of your time together- and I’m certain if she could write she’d say similar things. Lots of love going on there.

Linda J. - December 12, 2012 - 9:20 AM

That child is so full of life, her antics, her smile and her love of gum make me smile, smile, smile! Mary, you are such a good grandma.

Your Man - December 12, 2012 - 4:34 PM

She is sure a sweetie. Also a sneak. Had a great time. Love her 2 pieces.

Simone at 7 Months

Another month has passed us by and Simone just turned 7 months this week. She’s 21 pounds of cuter, chunkier, and squishier. She’s 28-1/2 inches of more to love. She’s not crawling yet, and doesn’t appear to be in any hurry, but she has 6 teeth that are pretty darn cute. She loves to sit […]

What a cutie. Reminds me of her mom at that age. Can you read her mind? It says I love you gramma.

Megan - December 1, 2012 - 1:36 PM

Seriously, how can I be the Mom of such ADORABLE kids?!?!

Aubrey - December 1, 2012 - 3:45 PM

Love the soft grays with that baby skin. She is so beautiful, great capture of this age.

Disneyland? Oh my, that is going to be FUN.

Diane D. - December 3, 2012 - 6:28 PM

Beautiful baby girl. And I love her name.

Jayden at 8 Months » - December 16, 2012 - 12:30 AM

[…] Jayden, you’re getting so big at 8 months! I don’t want you to get older yet! He and Simone are three weeks apart but he’s off and running crawling leaving the girl in his dust! He even […]

You’ve Seen One Recital, You’ve Seen Them All, Right? Wrong!

It cost $14 to get in. There were decorated trees everywhere that I could really have cared less about … seriously, I’ve gone once in probably 20 years. But this year was different and I looked forward to going for something that lasted maybe two minutes tops … maybe. I sat in the isle so […]

Man, now I feel guilty for not letting calling out to her when she came on stage. She told me last night that no one was there watching her and when I said- YES…we were ALL there, she didn’t believe me b/c she couldn’t find us. Whaaaaaaa. Those big blue eyes searching through the crowd for a familiar face.

Thanks for coming and make the day more memorable. She loves you and so do I!

Mary - November 24, 2012 - 9:03 AM

A star is born!

Linda - November 24, 2012 - 3:30 PM

Oh you no doubt will go to many performances over the years and love every one. I know I do. I love going to the Festival of Trees with my grandkids. My favorite thing is Fairy Tales Come to Life. They are mesmerizing and the grandkids love these life sized (human) fairy tale characters. It is one of my favorite family things to do together to get in the mood for the holiday. They get to make an ornament and they look through all the trees and pick their favorites and do the scavenger hunt, watch fun performances, drink hot chocolate and run here and there. It is a special time. Isn’t being a grandma WONDERFUL?

The Gerichs Family

I kind of pride myself on finding locations that are often new and unique and non-recognizable. I was soooo excited when I scouted this location on a week day afternoon to find it beautiful and people-free. Score! And then we went there on a Sunday afternoon … errrrch! There were two other photographers and about […]

What a happy family. Nice job.

Kathy G - November 12, 2012 - 9:01 PM

No wonder those G-babes are good looking. Just look at their parents.

laura - November 12, 2012 - 11:37 PM

The combination of the subjects and the photographer produced perfection, again! I love the BW photo of Syd, Meg’s silly face and Simone eating the leaves!

Megan - November 14, 2012 - 10:14 PM

There’s only one big problem with these pictures.

I now need 8 more frames. Good thing I have mass amounts of wall space.

Love your talent, love that you always make time to take our photos.

Fairly Candid - November 15, 2012 - 2:46 PM

Thanks everybody! I love photographing my family! Sydney was a little stinker, running here or there in and out of the pictures, but I love her energy, and she’s at that age where we can say “don’t smile … don’t do it” and you get the best smile ever. I love her joyfullness. These pictures make me happy to see my daughter’s beautiful face. She and Robby make such a handsome couple and I couldn’t ask for more. My luvin’ cup runneth over!

MJ Turning 3 = One Fun Weekend!

It was the birthday weekend to remember for my first grandchild, MJ, who turned 3 on October 20! It went like this: Saturday the 20th: Linder Farms/Pumpkin Patch for our family. We went to Granny Angie’s house following the farm for yum-o chili, presents and cute fireman cupcakes (by Angie). Sunday the 21st: Breakfast in Horseshoe […]

Danielle - November 8, 2012 - 12:03 PM

LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM! Thank you so much! The ones of Mj in the corn field are so adorable, and the ones on the bridge just make me mad! If only we had given him the gum first…

Megan - November 8, 2012 - 4:12 PM

I don’t know where to start. Random thoughts:

MJ is the CUTEST 3 year old, (previously 2 year old) I think I have ever seen. I can’t get over that blond hair, gorgeous smile and big kind eyes. Seriously, even his pout face makes you want to smother him with kisses. (Which actually was one of my fav pics- the pout face on the bridge. Totally frame worthy!)

I see next years Fair winning picture in here- the one of the train that you see 3 box cars.

The tractor picture was my favorite ‘family’ picture. Killer striped dress, Dani.

Matt has an awesome “non smile” face…not too many people can do that well.

There is this one of a kind relationship between MJ and Syd that I witness in person, but when you see their sweetness together in pictures it melts my heart all over again. The smiles, hand holding and hugs kill me.

Once again, job well done, Mom. Thanks for documenting these years for us!

Your Man - November 8, 2012 - 6:01 PM

Wow, some of your best work yet. What a fantastic job. You have no doubt the cutest babes ever. Even our kids looked fantastic. Really I mean the family is totally awesome. Great parents and grandkids. Not to mention the photographer. Love ya.

Sheila Clark - November 9, 2012 - 8:36 AM

Great photos Mary! I love the one of the 2 boys on the bridge where MJ is pouty. So cute! What great memories you’ve captured with your camera. You definitely have a special gift!

Aubrey - November 9, 2012 - 2:41 PM

Wowee! What an incredibly good looking bunch of people! Beautiful memories from such a fun and rich time in your life. Loved all the outfit changes, too!

Roberta - November 9, 2012 - 10:11 PM

Mary, I agree with all the above comments, your photos always make me smile! So many darling ones to try to choose from, don’t know how one could even choose, so take them all! love the back drops you choose on so many of them! But you must admit that a photographer is only as good as their subjects….and you have some awesome ones here, and to thing they are your precious family!!!

Fairly Candid - November 15, 2012 - 2:52 PM

Thanks everybody! This post brought me such joy! I am so proud of it and grateful to God that he has given me such a passion for photography. My girls are so good at taking pictures of their families as well so I am happy about that. Still, it just brings me such joy to look at these little kids over and over knowing they will soon be big kids and wanting to be off doing their own thing more. Thank goodness for the age of digital books!

“Orange” – I Heart Faces Photo Challenge

I know I just posted this for my readers, but come on, they’re having a photo challenge called ORANGE over at I Heart Faces, and you know I just had to bite! For those who don’t know me, these are my four g-babes. The oldest two are just turning three and are 10 weeks […]

Lori - November 10, 2012 - 2:07 PM

We LOVED this one! So, so sweet!

Fairly Candid - November 15, 2012 - 2:57 PM

Thank you everyone! I know the pumpkin idea has floated around so it was fun to do our own version. It was so fun all the way from going to the pumpkin patch to pick the perfect 44 and 45 pound pumkin to letting my kids carve the guts because there was no way I was going to! We had to transport all the other pumkins as well, but again, I just got to do the fun part of photographing my g-babes.

Happy Halloween from My Punkin Patch!

Jayden, at nearly 7 months and 20+ pounds, is sporting the latest fall fashion this Halloween — a 45 lb. pumpkin that tastes as good as it looks. Simone, who just recently turned 6 months and is also 20+ pounds, is sporting the perfect fall accessory with her 44 lb. pumpkin — a beautiful handmade […]

OH MY GOSH Mary! That is to cute. I can’t believe how much they are already changing. Look at how tall MJ and Sidney are! Jayden and Simone are changing so much too! Just want to give them all great big bear hugs! You are so lucky! You have lovely grandchildren. Kudos to the Parents for doing such a great job!

laura - October 31, 2012 - 9:57 AM

Sooo sweet and cute. I love the pumpkins and all their facial expressions. You really know how to capture the moments.

Linda - October 31, 2012 - 10:47 AM

Their expressions are absolutely precious. Love these.

Gloria - October 31, 2012 - 11:23 AM

Mary… adorable are those kids! I love the photos! Great job!! They are just too cute! Great idea for cutting out the leg holes too! Made me laugh!

Lynn Nicholson - October 31, 2012 - 12:10 PM

Hooray! These are instant happiness! Love me a chunky, smiley, almost bald baby 🙂

Fairly Candid - November 15, 2012 - 3:05 PM

Thanks everybody! I could look at these punkin’s all day! Joy rising!

Simone Olivia – 4 Months

Simone is my fourth and youngest g-babe (but certainly not my last ;-)). She’s squishy and tall at 19 pounds and 27.5 inches, with twinkling eyes and a smile that gives you her undivided attention. Like Syd did as a baby, Simone loves playing with her legs and toes and she’s at her happiest just lying on […]

Happy Mama - October 2, 2012 - 7:47 AM

I know I see her everyday, but then I look at these pictures and swoon all over again. I didn’t know squishy cheeks could be so kissable and could get even squishier when they scoot over for a big smile to come in the middle. Keep on working the giggle, Gramma- you’ll get it. ♥

Kathy G - October 3, 2012 - 11:05 PM

Your G-Babes are way prettier than all the other G-Babes in the world. Well, except mine.

Fairly Candid - October 4, 2012 - 1:23 PM

Well, naturally … duh. 🙂 Actually, I’d say we’re both pretty blessed with our g-babes! 🙂

Beth - October 6, 2012 - 9:42 PM

Wow, I love this set! My fav is the bare little butt against the hardwood floor.

I finally made it over to your new site and I love it. Life has been crazy but I’ll be back again. When I need a smile I come over here and check out your photos.

My heart is melting….

Sydney Reece

Sydney is my second silly g-babe and I find that I call her Sister Susie a lot, although I don’t really know why. She’s smart, rough and tumble, playground fearless, contemplative, and yes even a little sassy at times. Even her pouty stage can be endearing and it makes me laugh watching the invisible gears turn […]

Lucky Mama - September 27, 2012 - 8:01 AM

LOVE all the pics I haven’t yet seen, but loved the write up even more- you captured her personality, characteristics and quirks in words…and photos. ♥

Kathy G - September 27, 2012 - 11:42 PM

So cute it hurts. My other thought I have is how lucky this girl is to have photos of this quality to pass on to her own grandchildren some day.

Fairly Candid - September 27, 2012 - 11:51 PM

Thank you Kathy. I’m sure you’re taking lots of pictures of Marlies too as you babysit each week. Think of the albums these kids will have when they’re grown. Oh my!They won’t have space to put them. I hardly have space for mine now!

Linda J. - September 29, 2012 - 10:15 AM

You do so capture her adorable personality. I love a girl with single-minded determination–Sydney, you go gum!!!
