5 Years, 2 Boys, and the Wedding Dress Still Fits!

For most of you ladies, you have probably only ever worn your wedding dress once. My always beautiful daughter-in-law, Danielle, came up with a plan to get to wear hers more than once while married to the same man … on their anniversary every five years! They married in April 2008, and yes, while we’re a few months late, it was a perfect […]

I may or may not have woken up in the middle of the night to see if these were posted yet 😉 Where to even start…I absolutely LOVE these pictures. I love the lighting, and how you captured how much love Matt and I still have for each other after a whirlwind 5 years, crazy dog and 2 rambunctious boys. You are one amazing photographer, and we are so blessed to have you. Now I can actually have wedding pictures I like hanging on the wall!! You said it best…Can’t wait for 2018! Love you, and thank you again!

Fairly Candid - August 12, 2013 - 9:25 AM

Well if that comment didn’t make my eyes water, I don’t know what would. Happy Anniversary … a few months late. 🙂

Megan - August 12, 2013 - 1:53 PM

I’m tempted to put one of these up in MY house! They are beyond gorgeous!!! What an awesome job, but that job was probably made easier by the natural love that flows between them.

Love you all!

Tracey - August 13, 2013 - 7:52 AM

Love the pictures and the family! They were made for each and
it shows. God Bless you all, and may the years be good to each and everyone of you!

Diane and Jim - August 13, 2013 - 5:15 PM

The pictures are so much fun to look at. We just love that little family. And Danielle you rock!!!!! Matt you are not so bad yourself. Good job Mary.
Jim and Diane

Kathy G. - August 13, 2013 - 6:23 PM

I think she’s even more beautiful than the day she got married. That Matt’s pretty easy on the eyes, too.

LoraLee - August 15, 2013 - 12:55 PM

Oh my gosh Mary. These are the most beautiful pictures!! Those kids are both so darling, and their boys are the cutest ever! What a precious family. I am always blown away by your talent as a photographer! God bless you Honey for giving your sweet kids such a wonderful gift of pictures they will treasure forever. The 50th Anniversary book you made for Lee and me always sits on the end table. We love picking it up often to relive precious memories of past joys. Thank you, thank you for such a thoughtful gift. Love to everyone!

Kathy - August 18, 2013 - 5:54 PM

Wow! Is all I can say. Beautiful photos, beautiful subjects. Matt and Danielle you are an inspiration – here’s to another 50+ years!!!

lsj4157 - August 20, 2013 - 11:19 AM

These photos are beautiful! I see the love behind the camera as well as in front of it. I think you should start taking lots of anniversary pictures!! What a lovely idea Danielle, wish I’d thought of it 33 years ago. It will be a beautiful record of how you two grow and change over time. Stunning. (By the way, Mary, Danielle’s post brought a little moisture to my eyes too and I was already misty looking at those beautiful pictures.)

READING BETWEEN THE LINES OF MY LIFE

ON MOTHER’S DAY IN MAY, MY FAMILY MET AT DISCOVERY PARK WHERE CHARLIE (MY NEPHEW’S SON WHO IS 4 ), AND MJ AND SYDNEY (3-1/2) GOT TO PLAY AND PLAY AND PLAY ALL DAY TOGETHER. CHARLIE’S DAD AND MY SON GOT IN A WATER FIGHT. CHARLIE’S DAD LOST. MJ FOUND A “YOBSTER” IN THE RIVER AND MATT CAUGHT […]

Megan - June 24, 2013 - 2:34 PM

My favorite kind of post- catch up and bits of pieces of what you’ve been up to and all the fun inbetween, candid shots that have taken place to tell the story.

LOVE the sweet smile on Syd’s face before church- and can envision Sydney telling MJ- “MJ. MJ. EMMMMJAYYYY! Do you want gum? You want me to get you some gum?” in the picture where she’s meeting his eyes. That first picture of the dunes is amazing and it was fun to see the little raccoon up close and personal- since he didn’t give US that opportunity!

Oh, and I busted up when you made the neighbor comment. Let’s just hope she’s not a subscriber. 😉

And lastly, Mone with the broccoli. Ahhhh, fulfilled.

Danielle - June 27, 2013 - 1:21 PM

Best one of all…the one of the dads and their sons 🙂 They all have the perfect smile on their faces!

Kathy - June 29, 2013 - 6:44 PM

Great fun pics! Love the Dad picture with son and grandsons

Kathy - June 29, 2013 - 6:49 PM

Thanks for the pics of my beautiful grand girls! They are so pretty in their ballet shots. I need the one of the 3 together on my iPad screen shot!!! I also love the shot of Abbey. And oh, that sweet devilish smile of Sydney beats them all! What a killer!

Aubrey Archuleta - June 30, 2013 - 2:29 PM

These are my favorite types of posts. I get the whole she-bang that makes up your wonderful life. It really is sweet to see such a full, beautiful series of events. I’m blessed to take a peek in through cyberspace.

Fairly Candid - June 30, 2013 - 8:39 PM

Thanks Aubrey, it’s not a perfect life by any means, but these g-babes sure make it more special!

Fairly Candid - June 30, 2013 - 8:40 PM

One of my favorites as well … right after MJ and Sydney with the flowers. They are both going into frames.

Linda - July 1, 2013 - 10:29 PM

There is some extreme cuteness taking place in these pictures. As always your photos are full of life and fun. Gosh you even made it look like Abi was enjoying her ballet performance!

Simone’s “Watermelon Smash”

You’ve no doubt heard of a “First Birthday Cake Smash” (as in Jayden’s sugar-free cake here and Gracie’s Cake Smash here), but Megan came up with the idea for a “Watermelon Smash” as an alternative for Simone on her first birthday. There was no smashing it however, only eating it and she LOVED it! The ground […]

Melted Mama - April 30, 2013 - 4:46 PM

So we’re going to have a watermelon photo wall I guess, cause seriously?! This was bliss…this is bliss. I am in love more than I can handle.

The pucker lips? The big eye whites? The smiles? The four kids together and Mone trying to eat MJ’s? It’s just too much….

Fairly Candid - April 30, 2013 - 5:01 PM

I know, that last few of Simone bending over to get MJ’s is pretty funny. MJ’s expressions are a kick too, and Jayden just watching the action is so cute. I liked how Sydney caught on at the last minute and was laughing too.

Linda - May 1, 2013 - 9:17 AM

Ok, just when I think you can’t take a cuter picture you take another just as cute. Nothing like being in the right place, at the right time, with a camera in your hand to get those shots of Simone going after MJ’s watermelon. Priceless.

Fairly Candid - May 2, 2013 - 6:24 AM

It was priceless … and I have two new frames just begging for a new picture … hmmm, which two will make the cut? Definitely one of each baby at ONE.

Up Up and Away to Simone’s First Birthday!

Simone’s ONEderful Birthday was just two days away when we gathered for these shots and Jayden’s was three weeks prior. It was a warm day and so who wouldn’t want to take a hot air balloon ride? I was quite impressed with the balloons holding over 25 lb babies! Wink (Photoshop). Simone came sporting her […]

Aubrey Archuleta - April 29, 2013 - 10:54 PM

Are you kidding me. This is the absolute cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Babies in a balloon basket!!!! I die. Cutest ever.

and polka dots! and baby chubs! and pigtails! and cowboy hats! ahhh! it’s too much 🙂

Fairly Candid - April 29, 2013 - 10:57 PM

What a fun comment Aubrey. I take that as quite a compliment coming from the likes of creative YOU!

Megan - April 30, 2013 - 8:55 AM

I knew this was going to be killer, but the results knocked my expectations OUT OF THE PARK. Seriously, Mom!!! KILLER!!! Thank you so much! …wonder where those cute polka dot balloons are now? 😉

Linda - April 30, 2013 - 9:38 AM

Oh my goodness–How darn cute are these pictures!! You managed to capture the cutest expressions on your adorable grandbabies. Loved the ones in the baskets with the baloons, in the wagon, on the tractor–okay, I loved them all. Simone’s piggy tail cuteness brought a smile to my face. But I laughed out loud (at work) when I saw Jayden’s expression when Danielle, Matt and MJ were making funny faces. I can almost read his thoughts. Terrific job, AGAIN, Mary. Love them.

Mike Mouser - April 30, 2013 - 4:41 PM

Baby, you never cease to amaze me. What a fun outing with our babies!!!

Fairly Candid - April 30, 2013 - 5:03 PM

Just think how cute it could be with all your grandkids!

Shayna - April 30, 2013 - 9:51 PM

Beautiful family and an amazing photographer! Great job as always Mary.

Fairly Candid - May 2, 2013 - 6:22 AM

Thank you Shayna, I appreciate your comment!

Jayden’s ONEderful Birthday!

Happy first birthday Jayden! What can I say about this g-babe of mine … that he can flash a smile that just melts my heart or make an expression that sends me laughing, that as a walker for two months now is happier than ever (if that’s even possible), is fearless around stairs (I see a tumble in […]

Proud Mama - April 11, 2013 - 8:48 AM

Where to start…the look on Jaydens face in the first haircut picture is so adorable. Those blue eyes get me every. single. time! All of the cake pictures are my favorite, and the one of him peeking through the railing at the park is definitely frame worthy. Speaking of frame worthy…or should I say FAME worthy is that sassy/serious gem of Mj. I may have a model on my hands 😉 Thank you for all of the beautiful pictures!!

Smitten Auntie - April 11, 2013 - 1:34 PM

I’m with the Proud Mama- that first picture killed me. His closed mouth grin is so freaking cute I can hardly handle it. Such a happy-go-lucky little fellow he is- I’m so excited to see his personality develop more!

MJ? Serious handsome, cuteness going on there. You’re going to have girls swooning. Oh my hell he’s adorable.

Love them both!!!

Aubrey - April 21, 2013 - 9:19 AM

What a hoot! I love all the adults getting in on the smash cake. And, what fun it must be to have such cuties stopping by work! Happy Birthday, Jayden!

[…] no doubt heard of a “First Birthday Cake Smash” (as in Jayden’s sugar-free cake here and Gracie’s Cake Smash here), but Megan came up with the idea for a “Watermelon […]

March Gladness

March is the month of “March Madness” in basketball which Mike loves, but for me, it’s more like “March Gladness” — having four g-babes that take away all my madness. 🙂 First up of some of my favorite photos taken during the month is Jayden who turns ONE on April 8th. How did that happen?! […]

Megan - April 2, 2013 - 3:42 PM

Of course I loved this post with all my heart- my favorite little people were in front of your lens!!!

I love the title also- what a sweet tribute to the loves in your life. I can’t get enough of those happy faces.

Love how in the last picture Syd is like “Don’t look at me, I don’t know what her problem is…but I didn’t do it!”

Danielle - April 2, 2013 - 11:08 PM

I loved everything about this post except re-living the tree getting cut down! That was one stressful day. I am so glad that I have you documenting our lives, because lets face it…if it weren’t for you, our kids would have nothing to look at when they grow up! THANK YOU!!!

Tracey - April 3, 2013 - 9:01 AM

Love your Pictures Mary! I’m glad I don’t hve to pick my favorite. They have changed so much in the last year. So
much enjoyment! How lucky you and Mike are to have
such a wonderful family. I hope your grown children and their spouses know how lucky they are to have parents that love their children as much as you and Mike do!

Fairly Candid - April 3, 2013 - 9:33 AM

Tracy, you are always so kind, and I agree … these kids have all changed so much, especially the last several months. They have all become new little thinkers, walkers, crawlers, and talkers and they are so fun to watch and interact with. And yes, Mike and I feel the love and appreciation from the biggest kids — ours.

Idaho Aquarium – Sydney

Syd and I went to the Aquarium on the first day of March for a little one-on-one time together. She was surprisingly a bit timid with wanting to touch things … but she did. The sharks and stingray tank had her a bit hesitant and we spent the longest time there trying to get her […]

Oh how I love seeing pictures of that sweet girl smiling. The fourth down might make it to a frame. LOVE HER!!!

Not so sure about the Merman or the Mermaid painting…conclusion: the Aquarium doesn’t do mermaids all that well. 😉

As always, thanks for a fun, original and lovely Gramma Date.

Aubrey - March 3, 2013 - 7:53 AM

Love the potty talk when it is a little one. (not so cute when they are 13!) What a fun outing and I love her apprehension about the merman, I agree! Stay away! 😉

You really got her to open up on the last series of pictures, such a great way to capture that moment with her head thrown back laughing.

Kathy G - March 3, 2013 - 8:09 PM

This makes me feel like the universe is unfolding as it should. Some things are just so right and good!

Kay Lynn - March 4, 2013 - 6:48 AM

I loved the photos, too! My favorite part of the post, though, was Sydney being sure that Megan was out having ice cream! Ha ha! LOVE it.

Simone at 10 Months – Retro 1983

On the last post of Simone called “Pretty in Pink” Megan wrote a comment ending with “Ten months. Boy do I have a treat for you.” She did. I had Syd all day March 1st for a one-on-one, but I had also offered up a date night, so when the kids brought Simone over, to […]

KILL ME. ♥

Aubrey - March 3, 2013 - 7:55 AM

Vintage! Looks so cute on that dark eyed girl. Have you posted a picture of Megan in this?

Fairly Candid - March 3, 2013 - 8:55 AM

Hi Aubrey, I was going to post a picture only to find out my newest operating system on my computer won’t recognize the dinosaur scanner I have. I’m sure there’s a way around it, but it sounded like a longer adventure than I was willing to take. 🙂

Aubrey - March 3, 2013 - 1:51 PM

I hear you, all this technology is a lot of work!

I’m Officially Caught Up!

I have been a bit negligent of my blog this winter, using the time instead to get new pictures on my walls, time spent with g-babes and friends, movies watched (Silver Linings Playbook being my favorite), and some Spring cleaning done. When I have extra time (is there such a thing?), I sit and edit, and edit, and edit […]

How fun to see random memories of last summer and earlier days! I couldn’t get over the picture of you and the one big tooth in the middle- so funny!

By far my favorite pictures were the five you took of the snow. I think I need to frame the first for Chrismtas time, and the third and fourth were just amazing. You should ask HTEH if they want your amazing work on their client Christmas cards…or any other business for that matter! I love learning more about you through the random and candid photos you take. What a treat!

Red is the Color of Love

On Valentine’s Day, I got to watch the boys after we all met for a LOVEly lunch. Since Jayden had recently turned 10 months, I took advantage of a photo op since he is officially a walker now. He took his first steps at 9 months and at this session, he was confident standing alone […]

Auntie Megan - February 28, 2013 - 11:45 PM

Seriously- how is it that Jayden is already 10 months (OK, almost 11)?!? SLOW DOWN! His walk is so adorable- and I love that he smiles the entire time that he does it.

MJ? Seriously, M and D- you are gonna have girls SWOONING.
