Jayden Turns Two

April and May have been busy months so I’m definitely behind in spending time on my blog, but I do see blue skies ahead now that the house selections are all finalized. Speaking of blue, these kids of mine makes me feel anything but in these happy colors they are wearing (sounds like a fashion show runway […]

Beautiful family! Love the one of Jayden running and the first pic of MJ. And then of course, the full family pictures…one truly happy family!

Fairly Candid - May 13, 2014 - 7:08 AM

Sweet comments from a sweet family as well. Glad you are doing well Angela.

Becky Hamilton - May 13, 2014 - 9:27 AM

These pictures make me smile. Fun family!

Kathy G - May 13, 2014 - 12:01 PM

Thanks for the smile of the day. Those boys sure do have personality!

Linda - May 13, 2014 - 12:41 PM

It was fun to see those special little boys on Friday and experience their little personalities first hand–even if Angie and I didn’t ever get to finish a conversation. That was part of the fun of it! Kind of like how it is when we go out with our own grandchildren.

Megan - May 13, 2014 - 2:34 PM

Seriously, those two boys just keep getting cuter and handsomer every day. That last pic of Jayden is killing me as I am envisioning him saying “ooooh” in that sweet deep voice.

Well done, Gramma. You know how to make those kids smile the biggest!!!

Looking Back at March Gladness and Madness

Miss me? I miss you too. I was buried January and February with photo sessions (mostly behind the scenes doing commercial event photography that didn’t go on my blog) accompanied by such maddening computer problems that I was almost at my breaking point of throwing my computer off my apartment balcony. Almost. Eventually a few […]

Linda - March 31, 2014 - 9:29 AM

You certainly DO have some awfully cute grandchildren!

Mary - March 31, 2014 - 10:13 AM

Yes I do!

Megan - March 31, 2014 - 3:08 PM

Oh those big brown eyes on my little baby certainly do color my world. It doesn’t get any better than that big silly grin from Syd…lucky you capturing it on camera. And seriously, could I have cuter nephews??? I think not.

Kathy G - March 31, 2014 - 8:42 PM

Well, I have to admit that they are extremely close to being as cute as my grandbabies. Thanks for capturing the little rays of sunshine and spreading the joy around.

Mary - March 31, 2014 - 10:07 PM

That was sweet Kathy.

Kathy - April 1, 2014 - 7:35 PM

Beauties, each and every one of them!

Danielle - April 4, 2014 - 8:14 AM

I promise Mj isn’t always that moody/timeout little stinker!! He most definitely has his sweet days 😉 That cheesy little smile on Jaydens face melts me and the bond between the boys melts me even more!

Megan - January 30, 2014 - 8:55 PM

Where are those 16 year old poses coming from? Stop them!!! I was sure you didn’t get any cute ones from that day, and there you go surprising me like always. So happy we got to be the “ad” for your mini-mini sessions. Lucky us having you to love and love us!

Fairly Candid - January 30, 2014 - 9:04 PM

And you know there’s more where these came from. Syd is just too cute when she gets up in front of the camera. She w-o-r-k-s it!

Tracey - January 31, 2014 - 8:42 AM

Love the pictures Mary. They turned out so well and your back drop is cute! Enjoy using it.

Danielle - January 31, 2014 - 10:23 AM

These turned out so cute! Jayden always smiles, but that to will change I’m sure. As for Mj…well put any sort of “boy” items or anything that can be used as a weapon in his hand, and he is golden! We always love those “tricks” you pull out of your sleeve, and Syds sassy pose kills me! That girl can rock it! Great pictures, as always!!

Linda - January 31, 2014 - 4:37 PM

Gee whiz Mary, your kids and grandkids will always get the BEST Valentines gifts with the great photos you take. The kind they will remember well into adulthood. Makes the cards and books or cookies I get mine look kinda lame. Oh well, I guess we can’t all be creative, amazing photographers. Now you got me thinking about what I might do differently this year. . . .still thinking. . . .still thinking.

Fairly Candid - February 2, 2014 - 9:04 AM

Oh seriously Linda! Who’s the fun grandma and gramps who goes bike riding with the kids and who bought snow shoes for everyone so that you can all go out in the snow hiking together. Let’s just talk about those memories, shall we? I have nothing over you girl. 🙂

Gloria - February 4, 2014 - 10:44 AM

Mary……Love, Love, Love all the pictures of the kids and what you did with them! I have to say although they are all great; I especially love that last picture of Simone with what looks to be a fixed focus on Jayden’s sucker. It doesn’t matter that she has one in her hands. The kids have grown so much! Count me in on a photo shoot for Lily….we just need to find a date!

Apartment Life

You remember we sold our house and moved … to a temporary holding tank while we look for another place. Ask my hubby what he thinks of apartment life, and he’ll tell you he doesn’t like it, but ask me and I’ll tell you the truth — I love it! We have five full weeks under our belt […]

Danielle - January 17, 2014 - 9:41 PM

It is such a cute little apartment, and I’m REALLY glad you don’t have downstairs neighbors 😉 Cute pictures of the boys! They sure do love spending time with you!

Fairly Candid - January 17, 2014 - 9:51 PM

Thank you Danielle. That was music to my ears. 🙂

Roberta - January 18, 2014 - 9:24 AM

this post brings back memories for us! we loved our 4 months in our apt. amazingly 8 years ago this month. yours is so clean and put together! we looked like a furniture store since we didn’t want to store our antiques in the storage unit, we had all of them in our apt!! Shari’s daybed became our “couch”, Dining table, “guest suite” as we had tables on top of tables, etc. that year we took a small tree out of a very small box and tada, we were decorated, lol. we loved it too, the time we saved cleaning and mowing and doing yard work was spent together and with our family and friends. I won’t lie, not sure if I could do it long term, but for a season, it was truly wonderful….enjoy your time together, come look in Paramount for a new home, we love our neighborhood!

Linda - January 18, 2014 - 11:35 AM

Isn’t it fun how well that painting of the birch trees (that we spent what seemed like hours wandering around looking for, and a couple more testing that and at least one other on the wall above the fireplace in your old house because you liked the colors on the other one but the size and shape of this one) looks on that brown wall? It is absolutely perfect there! (P.S. How do you like that long, completely grammatically incorrect, run-on sentence?)

Fairly Candid - January 18, 2014 - 2:45 PM

I KNOW! God had this apartment in His plan long before I did. 🙂 And yes, that was quite the run on sentence!!

aubrey - January 19, 2014 - 1:39 PM

Loved this post. Love how you are embracing your season. And wowee! Your arms look amazing, I need to hit that gym with you!
And! You are right about that sweater. What a gem, glad you held onto it, Simone looks so cute in it.

Fairly Candid - January 19, 2014 - 1:45 PM

I have found that Photoshop is much easier than the gym! 🙂

Tracey - January 20, 2014 - 8:46 AM

NICE pictures! Glad you like apt. living. I hear it all isn’t that great of an experience but looks like you guys got in a great one. Enjoy.

Megan - January 20, 2014 - 8:57 AM

She IS a Grampa’s girl and I love it!!! That picture of MJ jumping over the dinosaur absolutely melts me…what a fun view!

Thanks again for babysitting, and for always being so willing to.

Also, I’m hoping that since I’m your daughter, I will look at least half as good as you do when I’m 60!

Fairly Candid - January 20, 2014 - 9:10 AM

Hey wait, I’m not 60 YET!

Diane - January 20, 2014 - 2:55 PM

You guys are acting like you are newly weds again. Love it!!!! Enjoy this time together.

Tyler - February 11, 2014 - 5:05 PM

Amazing photos Mary!! We are so lucky and happy you stopped along your journey here at The Lodge!! I LOVE looking at your photos, and the finished outcome especially since I get a behind the scenes look!! Keep it up Mary – You’re Awesome!

Fairly Candid - February 11, 2014 - 6:32 PM

What a fun surprise to have you comment on my blog! That means a lot Tyler. Don’t forget to peek in on Valentine’s Day for some black and white and red all over. 🙂

Santa Sighting

My cousins, Becky and Steve, put on an impressive family gathering for around 45 of us every year before Christmas. Santa used to come years ago when our generation of kids were small, and now we have a new generation of little ones in the grandbabies. Santa and Mrs. Claus have somehow found the time with their […]

Becky - December 24, 2013 - 10:51 AM

As usual, you did a great job capturing the fun of the evening. Thanks for your pictures.

Megan - December 28, 2013 - 9:42 PM

Such a fun, fun tradition that has started!!! Thanks so much for organizing this, Mom and thanks Mr. and Mrs. Claus for being so jolly!

Next year Santa is only giving her a lollipop. I’ll get more excitement out of a 25 cent piece of candy!

Being Grateful

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Here’s what I’m grateful for this week. 1. Jesus. He loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so. 2. The hubs of 38 years. The one that can frustrate the heck out of me over something insignificant but later stitch me back up with a positive attitude, loving swat […]

Dear Mary, I am grateful for friends like you!

Megan - November 29, 2013 - 8:14 PM

I just adored the write up on all the little loves in our lives. So spot on and sincere. You’re a wonderful Gramma to each of them. We love you!

The Gerichs [My Family]

My kids, Megan and Robby, decided on a urban shoot this year so of course it was on one of the few windy day we’ve had these past two weeks. No worries … my kids are adaptable. And then there was Simone. She was having none of this photo business and 10 minutes into the […]

I can’t believe how those darling girls have grown! Soooo cute!
I got a hoot out of Simone, with her puckered lips and attitude.
Some mornings are just like that! You could see it didn’t take her long to warm up. Sidney is all sunshine isn’t she, what cute pictures of her! Robby and Megan just get more handsome and beautiful each year. What a fantastic couple and picture of sweet love! Grandpa looks darn good too. Such a sweet guy! Next time get someone to get you in those pictures, Girl!
Thanks for sharing your pictures!

Kathy Norwood - October 25, 2013 - 8:29 AM

I love these of your family. I really enjoy keeping up with you all on your blog.

Megan - October 25, 2013 - 2:12 PM

Oooooh boy. I see the frame budget needing an increase, and more wall space, please!!! MOM! You are fantastic! One would never know that the “conditions” weren’t perfect this day- which besides taking wonderful pictures is another talent of yours. You say we go with the flow, but you’re the one who makes messes into masterpieces through the lens!

My oldest and that sassy pose is killer, as are Simone’s red, red lips in each picture. My favorite of the family is the stairs, and the leaves in the air. SO thrilled you captured Simone’s pout face!!!

Thanks for the abundant compliments in the post. We love you!!!

Linda J. - October 25, 2013 - 3:15 PM

These are lovely photos of some of your lovely family. Those are some pretty great kids you have. (They have a pretty great Grandma/Mom, too!)

Mary - October 26, 2013 - 9:09 AM

Now these are some fun pictures not too posed. Loved them and those girls look more alike then ever. How cute are they!

Fairly Candid - October 26, 2013 - 9:19 AM

There can be a certain advantage to knowing your clients and what they will do and won’t do … as in little people. It’s always a treat photographing my own family. Your family is definitely more reserved than mine! 😉

Fairly Candid - October 26, 2013 - 9:20 AM

Lora Lee, knowing you are watching from Colorado always gives me a smile when you send a comment my way. I appreciate you!

Fairly Candid - October 26, 2013 - 9:21 AM

Oh Kathy, so nice hearing from my Texas cousin-in-law! You are such an amazing photographer so hearing from you is always a treat!

Terri Gerichs - October 26, 2013 - 1:05 PM

Mary , LOVE the pictures!!! You are AMAZING !!!

Danielle - October 27, 2013 - 11:28 PM

Photo shoots just aren’t the same if “reflector Mike” isn’t there 😉 They look great, and I love the sassy Syd pose!

Kathy G - October 28, 2013 - 10:43 PM

I just want to frame all of those pictures and it’s not even my family. It would be great to have a room full of these pictures all blown up on canvas. It would be the joy room.

Megan - October 30, 2013 - 9:39 PM

Kathy G- you are the sweetest!!! The “Joy Room”…I love it! I must have a “Joy House” cause these cuties are everywhere!

Aubrey - November 18, 2013 - 5:23 PM

I ALWAYS give you credit for your mad photog skillz but this family just looks great always. Love the creativity and the backstory. I agree with Megan, you’re going to need more frames!

My G-Boys

Jayden just turned the BIG 18 months! One-and-a-half years … where did the time go?! He is still the happy smiley little guy he’s always been, now just with a spark of naughtiness behind that smile. He thinks every bit of correction is a big ol’ game as he continues to do what he wants […]

I have been so blessed with such handsome boys! The girls are already chasing them at the park…I don’t even want to start thinking about how soon it will be before they start calling…guess we have to go buy a house phone so I can tell those smitten girls that my boys are busy…24/7. Great pictures!!

Megan - October 15, 2013 - 11:21 AM

Quite certain I’ve got the cutest nephews in all the land!!! Killer kiss picture and MJ in that hat makes me want to swoon. ♥

Mr. Cool and The Gypsy

Because I think all my readers are extra-special, I feel the need to send you a little smile today. My handsome grandson MJ turns 4 this month. Does that make me happy or sad? Yes it does. Sydney loves all things girly. She loves to dress herself and she loves Gramma’s jewelry. Oh, and MJ. […]

Tracey - October 2, 2013 - 8:34 AM

Thank you for the smile. Cute pictures of very darling children.
I can’t believe they are turning 4. The time is going so fast.

Danielle - October 2, 2013 - 10:03 AM

I love how much they love each other…NOW! Mj always says that Syd is his “bestist” friend. It warms my heart! Now…3 years and counting until Jayden and Simone get there 😉

Megan - October 2, 2013 - 1:38 PM

It’s so refreshing how well they’ve been loving on each other lately! So weird to think of Simone and Jayden being this big someday. Boooo.

The Gypsy. Bahahaha. So fitting for this colorful spark plug!

Jonette - October 3, 2013 - 6:43 PM

OMG, they are sooo big and adorable!! We really need to get all the little cousins together because they are so close in age. great pics Grandma, as always!!!

“Defining Summer” [July and August]

Ahh Summertime, you were so good to me. You provided some great moments — time for family, friends, camping, swimming pools, rivers, parades, playgrounds, hot weather, summer rain … and a messy house, weedy flower beds, and dirty cars! One thing about chores … they always seem to wait for you! G-Babes, they grow up […]

Love love love LOVE!! I’m going to have to redo this post 6 times just because I LOVE IT! My favorite was your fun descriptions of each kid, and all the words you chose to go with different pictures. So much fun and well put together. I’m not even going to think of a favorite- they were all so fun to look at and ‘relive’ the summer! Thanks so much for taking all of these!!!

Tracey - September 18, 2013 - 8:42 AM

Oh these pictures are GREAT! They really make you want to know the story behind them. The children are growing up so fast. I’m glad to see you all are enjoying every minute. Love to your family and God Bless you all!

Fairly Candid - September 18, 2013 - 8:54 AM

Thank you Tracy, and don’t worry, I can share a few stories at work and I agree, they are growing so fast. I look at pictures of just months ago, and say “what the heck! Stop growing!”

Gloria - September 18, 2013 - 9:10 AM

Loved the pictures, the adventures, and the special captures! Great job Mary!

Linda - September 18, 2013 - 9:30 AM

Oh my goodness!! Such sweet and funny pictures. I have to say it is a really good thing that Megan has such perfectly groomed eyebrows or that funny photo would revealed every out of place hair. . .unless, you were a good Mommy/photographer and removed them for her. Love them Mary, as usual.

Fairly Candid - September 18, 2013 - 9:34 AM

Aw, thank you Gloria!

Fairly Candid - September 18, 2013 - 9:36 AM

Oh that’s too funny Linda. Nope, they’re hers (although I did darken them for “dramatic effect” … you know how I love PS!)

Aubrey - September 18, 2013 - 12:41 PM

So much happiness in all these captures. Especially enjoyed seeing so many of you and the hubs 😀 What a fun season this summer was for you and yours!

Bobbi - September 18, 2013 - 12:46 PM

Awesome, Mary. Thanks so much for sharing and reminding me of the joys and great memories of summer. This posting can’t help but bring a smile 🙂

Fairly Candid - September 18, 2013 - 1:02 PM

Oh, thank you Bobbi, that comment touches me. You smile, I smile. 🙂

LoraLee Carter - September 18, 2013 - 2:31 PM

Mary, you are just unbelievable!!! Not only are you a wonderful photographer, but your talent for writing is as good or better!
What a great idea to combine favorite pictures over time and have a condensed collage with such entertaining commentaries!!!
I am “blown away” by your talents and so proud of you!!
What a treasure you are creating for your family. We love you sweet girl. Keep the pictures comin’, we LOVE seeing them!

Fairly Candid - September 18, 2013 - 9:51 PM

If I knew how to find my high school English teacher, I would sent him your note. I think I got a C-. Boy I’ll bet he’d be sorry now!

vickie - September 20, 2013 - 10:08 AM

Well Done! Mike and Mary you have done a wonderful job of raising your own kids and now they are in turn doing a wonderful job of raising theirs. What a beautiful family. Mary you did a great job of capturing love in a picture. Bless you all.

Diane D - September 23, 2013 - 7:03 PM

I loved looking at all your shots …. Mary you have that eye to see all the fun pictures.
