Happy Halloween!

I know … it’s a lot to take in. Take your time. When you think you’re ready, move on. If I had any vanity, it’s gone. As with our family tradition that I started with my kids, the girls and kids make the rounds to loved ones offices, passing out treats and getting some in return in […]

Oh my gosh, Mom. I laughed so hard at the first paragraph! The only way this post could be better is if you had a recording of how your voice sounded in that costume. I LOVE it, and your grandkids love it. Cheers to you for being awesome enough to do that, even if was a fancy meeting going on at work! Thanks for all the thoughtful non-sugar treats!

Vince - October 31, 2015 - 11:12 AM

Everyone looks adorable, but that gumball machine kills me. (Will she be collecting quarters tonight instead of candy?) I want to know what Mike is wearing.

Fairly Candid - October 31, 2015 - 12:52 PM

Oh gosh, at times I do get rather lost in myself when the kids are around. Perhaps that’s why MJ calls me his Crazy Gramma.

Fairly Candid - October 31, 2015 - 12:54 PM

Hey that’s a great idea Vince … earn that money Simone! Mike is wearing his BSU clothes for the game today, his chef hat since he is cooking tonight, and his best “oh you look so cute … or so scary … or so whatever” as kids come to the door tonight. I’ll be out with the g-boys and Matt and Danielle tonight gathering the harvest. Like lawyers, old retired folks who don’t have many kids come to the door in our neighborhood gives out lots of gold coins and diamonds … or lots of candy … one or the other.

The Swails Family

Gus, Henry and Peter are back in their signature plaid shirts and untamed manes — seriously, can they get any cuter?! This family is so fun and Nick and Amanda are always on board for anything. Just try and tell me you wouldn’t want to be an almost 4 year old or 6-½ year old […]

Sara Swails - October 1, 2015 - 2:54 PM

Well Mary, you’ve done it again! Super fantastic photos of my daughter & her family. . I look forward to seeing these every year! Thank you so much for your creativity!
Sara Swails (Amanda’s mom)

Vince - October 1, 2015 - 4:03 PM

Mary, I’m always amazed at how spontaneous you can make a picture look. This appears to be one happy family. (Amanda looks a little like Britney Spears around the eyes and mouth.)

Rose Sheehy - October 1, 2015 - 7:07 PM

Amanda sure looks like you Sara! I can see the Beckord genes! Loved the pictures.

Fairly Candid - October 2, 2015 - 8:39 AM

Thank you Sara. And Vince, I don’t think there are any appearances of a happy family … I’d say they are one! Thanks Rose and Grandpa Mike for leaving a nice comment for Amanda (and me).

Grandpa Mike - October 2, 2015 - 9:30 AM

Great pictures. Such handsome boys!

Breta Bishop - October 2, 2015 - 8:42 PM

Amanda, Great pics. Completely you, no stuffy outfits indoors in front of a white screen or next to a fake tree. Boys are getting big. I would tell you my favorites, but there are too many!! Hope all is well.

Fairly Candid - October 3, 2015 - 10:47 AM

Thanks for the sweet comment Breta. Mary

Kenzie and Macie

Ever been to Cottonwood? It’s beautiful there. Rolling hills of farmland and clear blue skies — normally. We went to visit friends recently and got the opportunity for a photo session with our friend’s grand girls who drove in from Lewiston. Sadly fires were raging in Kamiah, 20 miles north of Cottonwood, and many homes and out buildings were […]

Love the pictures Mary. The girls did very well and the other pics are great. Love the Church. Thank you for sharing.

Fairly Candid - August 25, 2015 - 9:27 AM

Thank you Tracy. The church is St. Gertrude Monastery.

Gloria - August 25, 2015 - 10:41 AM

Loved the pictures! Kenzie reminds me a little of Laura Ingalls from little house on the prairie. What a sweet girl. Macie is adorable. What a lot of spunk and personality that little one has. They are two beautiful girls. The location shots made you want to be there. Nice job Mary!!

Fairly Candid - August 25, 2015 - 11:47 AM

Thank you Gloria!

Sheri D - August 25, 2015 - 11:10 PM

Cheri told me about the planned photo session and how crazy windy it ended up being. However, even with that these are absolutely awesome pics! You definitely captured their personalities! Beautiful work Mary!

Fairly Candid - August 26, 2015 - 9:48 AM

Thank you Sheri, it was an adventure to say the least. Your words were very kind.

Vince - August 26, 2015 - 1:20 PM

Mary, more marvelous work. The last few shots are my favorites — they take me back to Kansas.

Fairly Candid - August 26, 2015 - 2:17 PM

Well you aren’t in Kansas anymore! We’re glad you’re in Boise.

Aubrey - September 5, 2015 - 9:12 AM

Gorgeous setting, beautiful girls, and the colors of the dresses are perfection. Well done, ladies!

Fairly Candid - September 8, 2015 - 6:57 AM

Thank you Aubrey! I love hearing from you sweet lady!

Lila at Four [Mini Session]

Kids are just so much fun to photograph and you never know what they will do or say — or not say or do. Lila was a quiet little giggle box when I photographed her at 3 so I was looking forward to seeing her now that she recently turned 4. Guess what? She was […]

Vince - August 7, 2015 - 5:37 PM

What a pretty and happy girl! I’ll bet you captured her personality perfectly. But tell me, when did she turn into a toad?

Fairly Candid - August 9, 2015 - 9:22 AM

Vince, only you would come up with a comment like that. 🙂

Aubrey - September 5, 2015 - 9:14 AM

I love how you captured the glitter one. Her sweet little hands!

Fairly Candid - September 8, 2015 - 8:25 AM

Thanks Aubrey. She was shy and didn’t want to do it at first, but I love that image too.

Oh Baby!

You know what they say about the second and third child when it comes to pictures? Well, Cole is my 5th (and supposedly last) g-babe and it seems to be coming true for him up to now. I need to put an end to that right soon and get more pictures taken of this little […]

He does look like himself! What a sweet little boy. Can’t wait to see who he favors as he grows older.

Vince - July 6, 2015 - 1:12 PM

Wow, really beautiful blue eyes. That second photo in particular is so expressive, like a pensive adult.

Becky - July 6, 2015 - 10:06 PM

2nd picture does have the look of Simone but I’m sure he’ll be himself. Looking forward to meeting him when we get home.

mary - July 7, 2015 - 11:45 AM

He looks like him self. Not like his sisters I think. And very good looking, like his sisters, but not like them.

Kathy Webb - July 9, 2015 - 12:47 PM

What a pretty baby!! Those eyes look right through me. Precious.

Fairly Candid - July 10, 2015 - 8:52 AM

Thank you everyone for the sweet comments on my sweet grandson. The day after I posted these pictures, his mom and I went belated birthday shopping and were out with just Cole for 8 hours (yes 8). He was the BEST baby when awake giving smiles and coos to anyone who would talk with him. He’s squishy too. 🙂 More to come for sure!

Aubrey - September 5, 2015 - 9:17 AM

Oh boy!!!! He is just delicious! Baby boys will always have my heart. Megan should have a dozen more 😉

Fairly Candid - September 8, 2015 - 8:27 AM

A dozen more?! Oh boy, I don’t think so!!!

Happy 3rd Birthday Addilynn!

Oh this one is quick and fast on her feet! I first photographed Addi when she was one and if you look back here, you will see she was quick then too! She had me on my toes and trying every trick I had. She was so cooperative though and wanted to do everything I asked of her, […]

What a cutie….

Fairly Candid - June 16, 2015 - 12:42 PM

I know, right? She was a happy girl.

Megan - June 18, 2015 - 7:06 AM

What a little doll. Loved the one of her blowing confetti- what a sweet idea. Always fun to see other littles the same age as yours.

Cousins Addi and Lily

Addi, now 4 months old, and Lily, 3, have been on my blog before … Addi as a newborn here and Lily four times before but most recently here at 18 months. Gloria, a good friend since our early high school days, has both girls on Mondays and just Addi the rest of the week so wanting a photo session, we […]

That little baby has so much character in her face, and you captured it beautifully.

Fairly Candid - June 13, 2015 - 12:19 PM

Thank you Vince – although I can’t take credit for the cute character part. 🙂

Sara - June 13, 2015 - 1:05 PM

Omg Mary! These are fantastic! My little girl looks so beautiful in these shots! You captured her features and little personality perfectly! I know she wasn’t the easiest baby but seeing these moments captured forever makes me so thankful for your hard work and efforts! You have a true talent

Fairly Candid - June 13, 2015 - 10:01 PM

I’m so glad you love them Sara. It’s been some time since I photographed a 3-month old so wasn’t sure what to do. I hear she doesn’t like tummy time but I love the sweet expression of the one on her tummy.

Gloria - June 15, 2015 - 3:13 PM

Mary…Thank you so much for the great memories with our granddaughters. What amazing patience and talent you have to capture such wonderful photos! We refer to the cute tummy photo of Addi as her Marilyn Monroe shot. I loved Lily’s photo with her little hand up by her face. She was thinking about a question you had asked her and she looks so sophisticated. Lily is such a happy little girl and loves her cousin very much so it is touching to have their together shots. P is for perfect! You are so appreciated Mary! Michael and I thank you!!

Fairly Candid - June 15, 2015 - 9:56 PM

You are a wonderful Gramma Gloria – very sacrificing and loving to those two girls. Your kids must be so proud to have a mom that gives so much of herself for their children so kudos right back to you my friend! So happy we could make it happen — sort of! Ha! Kids … who can predict them?!

Two Cute Luke [Mini Session]

I first met Crystal last July when I photographed her then three-year old daughter, Little Lila Sunshine as I called her (see her post here). Now it’s Luke’s time to shine. He got out of his car, walked over and gave me a head hug. Melt me adorable boy! He actually turned two in February so he’s a […]

Loved everyone of them. We have got beautiful grandkids all with their own personalitys. Gotta luv em.

Lucky mommy and auntie - February 14, 2015 - 9:01 AM

I bawled for ten minutes after reading this. Being sick and pregnant could have added to my emotional and sentimental response, but most of it came from the sweet words you wrote. You not only have talent for taking the must adorable pictures of the people I adore most, but your descriptions of each one were so ridiculously sweet, loving and spot on. Being able to write such personal attributes for them is a testament to the time, energy and love you have put into having a special relationship with each of them. They don’t realize it yet, but what a gift you’ve given them.

They’re all growing up into such wonderful, unique individuals. Thank you for freezing a second in time for us.

Kathy G - February 14, 2015 - 9:31 AM

Nobody does it better than you, Mary.

Danielle - February 14, 2015 - 4:16 PM

These turned out so cute!! Thank you so much for taking the time to take sweet pictures of the kids, and for all of the kind words written about them. We love you!

Gloria - February 16, 2015 - 5:28 PM

Mary, I so loved all your wonderful Valentines! Those babes age growing up so fast and you do a terrific job of capturing who they are and where they’re going in life. Great job! I can’t wait for you to photograph our new little addition to the family. Valentine’s Day has never been so special!

Cody Myers - February 17, 2015 - 8:32 AM

Mary those are so precious!!! You always do such a great job….love seeing your beautiful grandchildren 🙂

Harper at 9 Months
