Blake and Sara just got married and guess who was the actual hired photographer! Ok, so some of you have heard me say “I don’t shoot weddings” and that would be true … by there’s always exceptions in life and this was one of them. For me, there are too many “what ifs” and things can move quickly when shooting a wedding but I thought it would be a good challenge for me. While I’m not sure I’ll be adding “weddings” to my business cards any time soon, I may enjoy the opportunity for another exception down the road should one present itself. The groom, Blake, is the son of my good friend Gloria, and his now bride, Sara, is so sweet and easy going and the two of them made this so easy for me. I pretty much took pictures of whatever I wanted while they tried to enjoy their day. Sara, admittedly, was a nervous bride while Blake was all smiles and confident. When you see the two together, you see Sara relax into the man who brings her joy and comfort, protection and love. You also see Blake has a hard time keeping his eyes off of her! It was a beautiful wedding and while I personally had some mishaps that had me thanking God for His provision, this wedding will always be fond to me as my first. Thank you Gloria, Blake, and Sara for this opportunity. The wedding was beautiful and I hope by viewing these photos, that you get to enjoy the details of your wedding day from an entirely different perspective. 🙂
I don’t have a client viewing page other than my blog, so please pour yourself a fresh cup of Joe or a Coke and sit with me a while as I share with you much (but not all) of what I shot and edited from Saturday, October 6, 2012 between the hours of 12:30-8:00. I have broken it down into 7 sections for easier viewing. For friends, family, or strangers viewing this post, please don’t be shy and leave a comment if you like. Enjoy! Mary

6. THE RECEPTION – PART I
Cake Cutting (Cake by Greg Marsh), Garter Toss, Bouquet Toss (Flowers by Boise at It’s Best), First Dance (Music by DJ Joe), Father-Daughter Dance, Anniversary Dance, Acknowledgement of Bride’s Parents 33rd Anniversary
There was quite the laughter in the crowd when Sara and Blake cut the cake, put a piece on their plate, then Blake started to feed himself before he stopped himself. Truthfully, I’m not sure when Blake fed Sara her piece — probably when I turned to the crowd to watch them laugh (and take a bad blurry picture). Dang it. Then again for the garter toss, when Blake let go, it went about 3 feet and straight to the ground. He had to pick it up and try again. 🙂 In my opening I shared that Sara was a nervous bride and that when she was with Blake she was a different woman. You will see what I mean in the pictures of their first dance as husband and wife. Seriously folks, I cried taking the pictures as they were just such a beautiful couple together. You’ll see Karen, Sara’s mom, had a few tears of her own while watching their dance and then again when Sara’s dad danced with her. I never saw the laughter the whole day from Sara as I did while she was dancing with her dad. Oh, if I were only a fly on his shoulder hearing everything he was saying to make her laugh.
7. THE RECEPTION – PART II
Food Line (GoodWood), Parent Toasts (by Father of Groom and Mother of Bride), Bride and Groom Toast, Rings, Decorations, and Guests
… may you always look back on this wedding day with love and fondness for all those who made it happen! Have a beautiful life and enjoy the ride!
AND THEY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER.
