You remember we sold our house and moved … to a temporary holding tank while we look for another place. Ask my hubby what he thinks of apartment life, and he’ll tell you he doesn’t like it, but ask me and I’ll tell you the truth — I love it! We have five full weeks under our belt right now and the more I’m here, the more I love it … which is actually kind of scaring Mike. 762 sf to keep tidy vs 2560 is a no-brainer. It’s just so cozy and easy. Maybe it’s the fun of catching up on movies or watching that TV series I’ve wanted to watch for years now. It’s my down time from client photos so I’ve been catching up on family photos from the past few months, completing my 2013 photo book (so excited about that!), and even making a 2014 calendar when I swore I would never make one again (traditions are hard to break). I also spent way too many days taking advantage of our close proximity to the Mall and those after-holiday sales, and even though I do not make New Year’s resolutions, in the back of my mind I have been wanting to take advantage of the gym across the street at the Lodge. I finally got over there last week once so now that I’ve got that out of the way, I can get on to more fun and productive things! Like for example playing with my g-babes and installing my new PSE12 program. I’m hoping and praying it speeds up my production after downloading a new operating system months ago that slowed my PSE11 waaaaay down. My friend, Gloria, made me put a post-it note on my computer that says “Small upgrades OK. New operating systems NOT OK!” I also had to get a new printer after doing that. I hope I’ve learned my lesson!
So about the apartment, the floor plan flows well, we have no neighbors above or below us and only one neighbor on the other side of our living room wall. There are two other doors on our landing and in 5 weeks we have seen two people. Two people! Our windows face south so we get the inviting sun and we have a view of the complex entrance instead of into someone else’s apartment windows, and my car parks directly below me so on any given day before leaving I stand in my living room and use my automatic car starter to get it warmed up. We also have a three-month lease with a month-to-month option after that … and oh, my kitchen rugs from the house match the Formica in the apartment bathroom so it was meant to be! 🙂 We do get traffic noise from Maple Grove, and yes, I have had to scrap my car windows on occasion … but all-in-all minor details in lieu of the things I like about the place. We looked at houses pre-Christmas but the supply ran out so we were able to just concentrate on Christmas which kept us busy enough. Since New Year’s we have looked at a few but I have no doubt the market will pick up soon and God will direct us to that almost-perfect house, but for now, I’m grateful for what I’ve got.
I thought you might enjoy seeing our space. My now four-year old g-babe Sydney walked in, stood at the edge of the living room, paused, looked around, then very seriously asked “but Gramma, where do you keep your clothes?” It’s small but we do have a bedroom with a closet! 🙂
My husband surprised me with a Christmas tree that we decorated for our few gifts to each other. 🙂
The kids don’t seem to mind that it’s small so why should I? Please take note of Simone’s little sweater below … the one with the puffy sleeves. It was her mommy’s sweater. 🙂 Come on, let’s hear it … awwww.
The club house had a cookie/ornament decorating party, and knowing my grandkids couldn’t come the night of the party, the Assistant Property Manager, Tyler, left all the supplies for me to use another day. Sydney was the only one available to do it, but you can see she was quite “into” the project. I supplied the cookies … ones I had made with MJ and Jayden earlier in the month. Those boys love to help me bake. 🙂
This is Jay-D Bug (21 months) who likes to offer me bites of nuts, then just as he’s putting them into my mouth, jerk them back out, put them in his mouth, then laugh.
We have lots of trucks at the apartment, but occasionally Jayden likes to play here. This particular night I had him all to myself and we had so much fun together. He sat here too long though and cried when he got up because his legs went to sleep!
Making bead strings.
Below was Thursday night when we made cookies. I was going to make Ginger Chocolate Chip Cookies but was missing an ingredient (no not the ginger) so changed it up and made regular Chocolate Chip cookies instead. MJ called them “just plain old fashioned cookies.”
Today (Friday) the boys were over again (yay!) and we made more cookies — sugar cookies because Sydney wants to decorate more when we get together this week. We then played dinosaurs.
This is us saying goodbye to each other from my balcony as he was leaving. So fun these g-babes of mine.
And then on Saturday we got a nice surprise opportunity to watch the girls. Since the boys helped me make sugar cookies — and I still had some dough in the frig — Sydney helped me decorate them while Simone played with Grampa. She’s a Grampa’s girl.
Stop by and visit us sometime. Most likely we’ll have cookies to offer you!
