Happy Halloween!

I know … it’s a lot to take in. Take your time. When you think you’re ready, move on. If I had any vanity, it’s gone. As with our family tradition that I started with my kids, the girls and kids make the rounds to loved ones offices, passing out treats and getting some in return in […]

Megan - October 31, 2015 - 7:22 AM

Oh my gosh, Mom. I laughed so hard at the first paragraph! The only way this post could be better is if you had a recording of how your voice sounded in that costume. I LOVE it, and your grandkids love it. Cheers to you for being awesome enough to do that, even if was a fancy meeting going on at work! Thanks for all the thoughtful non-sugar treats!

Vince - October 31, 2015 - 11:12 AM

Everyone looks adorable, but that gumball machine kills me. (Will she be collecting quarters tonight instead of candy?) I want to know what Mike is wearing.

Fairly Candid - October 31, 2015 - 12:52 PM

Oh gosh, at times I do get rather lost in myself when the kids are around. Perhaps that’s why MJ calls me his Crazy Gramma.

Fairly Candid - October 31, 2015 - 12:54 PM

Hey that’s a great idea Vince … earn that money Simone! Mike is wearing his BSU clothes for the game today, his chef hat since he is cooking tonight, and his best “oh you look so cute … or so scary … or so whatever” as kids come to the door tonight. I’ll be out with the g-boys and Matt and Danielle tonight gathering the harvest. Like lawyers, old retired folks who don’t have many kids come to the door in our neighborhood gives out lots of gold coins and diamonds … or lots of candy … one or the other.

The Ellis Family

This is a family you have seen on my blog for years and one that I love. Christine was Megan’s friend in high school and she and Jason actually set up Robby and Megan’s first meeting when they all attended BSU. They have three boys that are busy, robust, adventurous, and so handsome. Quincy turns 13 […]

Megan - October 29, 2015 - 5:12 PM

LOVE this family! Those boys keep getting more handsome, as if that is even possible. The parents are aging beautifully, and this family always has the best shoes. Always!

Vince - October 30, 2015 - 11:05 AM

I agree with Megan about the parents looking so young. I can easily imagine one of these photos on their annual Christmas card. You certainly are busy lately, Mary. (I guess it comes with the season, huh?)

Fairly Candid - October 30, 2015 - 11:27 AM

I thought your family was tall Megan, but Quincy just keeps out-talling himself. Cooper too. And I told Christine I loved her boots too. Such a little fashionista!

Fairly Candid - October 30, 2015 - 11:27 AM

Hi Vince, yes tis the season (do you hear the bells?).

Christine Ellis - October 30, 2015 - 1:24 PM

Well I don’t know about looking young but I do heart these pictures! The pictures of the boys are so adorable! And hello Quincy…when did you get such a fabulous natural looking smile?!

Fairly Candid - October 30, 2015 - 9:09 PM

It’s always fun to see our kiddos from a different person’s perspective I think. I love that the boys love tall. There are no shrinking violets in your family and I love that!

Liz - October 30, 2015 - 9:38 PM

So awesome!

Baby Cole Isaac

Cole is changing by the day and just turned 5 months. I thought I would give you a smile by sharing a few random pics of this cutie-pie from the past month. I know, I’m thoughtful that way. 🙂 He has lost most of his dark brown hair and is getting something lighter, has two […]

I LOVE every.single.picture.in this post! Argh! He’s so cute! If we’re playing favorites, I love the one of him in the box with his gorgeous eyes staring at you…And I adore how well the cousin picture on your bed came out. And him in the pumpkin, and his naked butt. Ok, well like I said. Every. Single. Picture. LOVE him! LOVE you!

Fairly Candid - October 26, 2015 - 7:50 AM

He IS pretty cute, I’ll have to agree.

Liz - October 26, 2015 - 7:46 PM

LOVE all these!

Vince - October 28, 2015 - 10:30 AM

Oh he is too cute, and those setups are perfect.

Diane - October 28, 2015 - 7:27 PM

Oh your grandbabies are so cute. Love the picture of baby Cole with the bow tie and the pumpkin butt….

Fairly Candid - October 30, 2015 - 11:28 AM

Liz, Vince, Diane, thank you for viewing to see what I get to see often. I have to say though that this baby was never a baby for long. He grew FAST!

Mouser/Graves

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the people in this post that consist of my son’s family and Danielle’s mom and sister who were here on vacation for MJ’s 6th birthday. Woo hoo! Happy birthday MJ (now known in Kindergarten as Matthew by his choice). Angie, Danielle’s mom, moved back to Maryland this past May to spend time with […]

Danielle - October 23, 2015 - 10:52 PM

Ok I PROMISE I wasn’t stalking your site!! I was getting on to email my grandma Mj’s birthday post and I was totally surprised to see these! LOVE LOVE LOVE them, and I’m so excited to have so many great pictures of the people I love. They turned out even better than I could have ever imagined. You have a true talent, and I’m blessed to have you. Love you and thank you again 🙂

Fairly Candid - October 24, 2015 - 8:37 AM

That’s OK Danielle, I love blog stalkers. 🙂

Vince - October 24, 2015 - 11:12 AM

Stalker #2 here. These are wonderful! Such a nice-looking family, and it’s good to see Angie. If she’s still here, please say hi for me.

Fairly Candid - October 24, 2015 - 3:56 PM

No Vince, they were here Wednesday to Wednesday, but I’ll still pass it along.

Linda - October 25, 2015 - 12:54 AM

I love these people and these pictures. Do you do something extra-special when you love the subjects? Actually, now that I think about it, you might love all your subjects!

Kathy G - October 25, 2015 - 8:46 AM

Now that is one good lookin’ family. Where is the site? I’m glad you got one of you and Mike in there.

Fairly Candid - October 26, 2015 - 7:47 AM

Possibly true Linda … I do get into my sessions!

Fairly Candid - October 26, 2015 - 7:49 AM

The site was at a beautiful location Kathy, just like my post said. Ha! (Photographer’s secret!) Yes, I was happy to have a picture too. It doesn’t happen as often as you’d think.

Happy 6th Birthday MJ!

Boys will be boys, but boys will be little men too. They will get dirty but clean up handsome like their daddies. They will use their good manners taught by their mommies, tell silly jokes then laugh like their grampa’s. They will hug and say I love you’s and squeeze their Gramma’s legs as they […]

Tracey - October 23, 2015 - 7:52 AM

Love the Pics Mary. I can’t believe MJ is 6. Where did the time go?? Your grandchildren are so special and no one has to tell you all to cherish the moments because you all seem to realize how special these times are. Love to you all and thank you so much for sharing your family.

Fairly Candid - October 23, 2015 - 8:35 AM

Tracy, that is so nice. It does go fast and there are so many g-babes now to keep up with! I’m trying but I think they might outrun me one day soon! Ha! Mary

Auntie Megan - October 23, 2015 - 9:12 AM

Possibly one of the top 3 best write ups in your blog history. I LOVED that first paragraph. I LOVE that little man you’re talking about too…especially the hugs and I love yous I’m privy to. He’s a good kid, that one…but I agree. Six just sounds too old.

Danielle - October 23, 2015 - 1:30 PM

I always love your write-ups on the boys, but this post takes the prize. I tearfully read that post with a huge smile on my face knowing that my son was most definitely all of those things you described him as. Thank you for this! We sure do love you!!

mary - October 23, 2015 - 4:40 PM

Another great job on pics and writing. Your such a good grandma.
Just celebrated Alex ‘ s 21st birthday now that’s old!

Fairly Candid - October 23, 2015 - 7:17 PM

Hey Mary, I learned it from the BEST — YOU! You know I always thought you were the best Grandma a kid could have. You’re awesome and have taught me so much. 🙂 And thank you Megan and Danielle for your sweet words. Love you girls who are such good momma’s to my g-babes.

Vince - October 24, 2015 - 11:16 AM

I agree with Megan — I enjoyed your text more than usual. “I liked that he was 5 but he didn’t listen to me and got older” — that’s good! Looks like I should put Linder Farms on my bucket list.

Fairly Candid - October 26, 2015 - 7:51 AM

Thank you Vince … means a lot coming from your literary expertise. You can use it sometime if you want. Haha!

The Hackney Family

Boys will be boys and this family has lots of them! Four in fact … Ethan 10, Nathanial 9 (who was feeling downright crappy this session, poor guy), Nolan almost 8, and Eli who will be two in November and who runs this pony show. And when I say run, I mean that literally. He […]

Vince - October 20, 2015 - 1:44 PM

Thank goodness for the last few pictures — I was beginning to wonder where their parents were!

Fairly Candid - October 20, 2015 - 5:15 PM

Four boys Vince … four. Don’t you think you might want to run fast and far once in awhile! 🙂

The Heyer Family

I got the fun of photographing the Heyer family — Bill and Alyson (married 11 years), and twins Carson (in green) and Weston (in blue) two years ago when they were in transition from selling their home and looking for another. Now this year, they are celebrating one year in a house they built near the […]

Vince - October 17, 2015 - 8:28 AM

Nice-looking family. I’m so glad someone still takes black and white photos!

Fairly Candid - October 18, 2015 - 11:11 PM

Once in a while. 🙂

Sheila Clark - October 19, 2016 - 3:29 PM

Alyson, wow! The boys are growing up fast and these were a year ago!! What a great looking family!
Mary, great job!

The Wickham Family

I love this job for the fact that I get to know some pretty nice people, and Blake and Sara are two of them. Blake is my friend Gloria’s son and you’ve seen them before on my blog when I shot their wedding three years ago this month. Congratulations you two! Then two and a half years […]

Sara - October 9, 2015 - 7:12 AM

OMG Mary! I’ve been checking your blog obsessively the past few days, excitedly awaiting these pictures! And I wasn’t at all disappointed! They are fantastic! Thank you so much for giving us some wonderful family shots!!!

Cody - October 9, 2015 - 8:28 AM

Love these!

Fairly Candid - October 9, 2015 - 8:55 AM

Sara, you gave me a BIG smile this morning! I love obsessive blog checkers. Ha! So glad you love them. I loved them too. And thank you my fine co-worker Cody for chiming in too!

Vince - October 9, 2015 - 10:27 AM

These are adorable, and what a cute baby! Where is the “green mile”? (That makes me a little nervous — have you seen the movie?)

Fairly Candid - October 9, 2015 - 3:21 PM

Yes, I’ve seen it — I live with Mike remember? We parked at the far end of a river then walked “the green mile” to the other end taking pictures. We had to carry stuff over fallen trees, around sand pits, through tall grass … get the idea? 🙂

Gloria - October 9, 2015 - 4:18 PM

I love these photos! Addi seemed so serious in most of them. That little girl is a studier. She is more interested in what’s going on around her then having fun in the moment. I noticed you were able to get a couple of her smiling and having fun. Good job Mary! Blake and Sara made up for what Addi didn’t give with smiles. They are very proud parents! As they should be!! Love your proud Grandma!

Megan - October 10, 2015 - 10:40 PM

If that little Addi isn’t sweeter than peach pie, I don’t know who is. LOVE all the solo ones of that little beauty.

Fairly Candid - October 11, 2015 - 9:32 PM

Sorry so late in commenting back to you Gloria (and Megan) but I had a busy fulfilling weekend with all my g-babes. I know what you mean about the smiles on your big kids — they truly love this little girl with all their being — and isn’t it just the way it’s supposed to be! It’s a beautiful thing to witness. Babies are truly blessings aren’t they!
