The Zumhoff’s

I’m not sure when I’ve ever had such a serious little client. Maya, who turns two in December, was a hard peanut to crack. We planned an afternoon session so she would be nice and rested from a long nap. With company in town, however, she had to settle for aย short car ride nap instead. […]

What a wonderful job Mary!! Great photos of great friends! Love Miss Maya even in her serious face, she is so beautiful!
Where is this bridge? We need to do family photos there next time…

The Gerichs [My Family]

My kids, Megan and Robby, decided on a urban shoot this year so of course it was on one of the few windy day we’ve had these past two weeks. No worries … my kids are adaptable. And then there was Simone. She was having none of this photo business and 10 minutes into the […]

I can’t believe how those darling girls have grown! Soooo cute!
I got a hoot out of Simone, with her puckered lips and attitude.
Some mornings are just like that! You could see it didn’t take her long to warm up. Sidney is all sunshine isn’t she, what cute pictures of her! Robby and Megan just get more handsome and beautiful each year. What a fantastic couple and picture of sweet love! Grandpa looks darn good too. Such a sweet guy! Next time get someone to get you in those pictures, Girl!
Thanks for sharing your pictures!

Kathy Norwood - October 25, 2013 - 8:29 AM

I love these of your family. I really enjoy keeping up with you all on your blog.

Megan - October 25, 2013 - 2:12 PM

Oooooh boy. I see the frame budget needing an increase, and more wall space, please!!! MOM! You are fantastic! One would never know that the “conditions” weren’t perfect this day- which besides taking wonderful pictures is another talent of yours. You say we go with the flow, but you’re the one who makes messes into masterpieces through the lens!

My oldest and that sassy pose is killer, as are Simone’s red, red lips in each picture. My favorite of the family is the stairs, and the leaves in the air. SO thrilled you captured Simone’s pout face!!!

Thanks for the abundant compliments in the post. We love you!!!

Linda J. - October 25, 2013 - 3:15 PM

These are lovely photos of some of your lovely family. Those are some pretty great kids you have. (They have a pretty great Grandma/Mom, too!)

Mary - October 26, 2013 - 9:09 AM

Now these are some fun pictures not too posed. Loved them and those girls look more alike then ever. How cute are they!

Fairly Candid - October 26, 2013 - 9:19 AM

There can be a certain advantage to knowing your clients and what they will do and won’t do … as in little people. It’s always a treat photographing my own family. Your family is definitely more reserved than mine! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Fairly Candid - October 26, 2013 - 9:20 AM

Lora Lee, knowing you are watching from Colorado always gives me a smile when you send a comment my way. I appreciate you!

Fairly Candid - October 26, 2013 - 9:21 AM

Oh Kathy, so nice hearing from my Texas cousin-in-law! You are such an amazing photographer so hearing from you is always a treat!

Terri Gerichs - October 26, 2013 - 1:05 PM

Mary , LOVE the pictures!!! You are AMAZING !!!

Danielle - October 27, 2013 - 11:28 PM

Photo shoots just aren’t the same if “reflector Mike” isn’t there ๐Ÿ˜‰ They look great, and I love the sassy Syd pose!

Kathy G - October 28, 2013 - 10:43 PM

I just want to frame all of those pictures and it’s not even my family. It would be great to have a room full of these pictures all blown up on canvas. It would be the joy room.

Megan - October 30, 2013 - 9:39 PM

Kathy G- you are the sweetest!!! The “Joy Room”…I love it! I must have a “Joy House” cause these cuties are everywhere!

Aubrey - November 18, 2013 - 5:23 PM

I ALWAYS give you credit for your mad photog skillz but this family just looks great always. Love the creativity and the backstory. I agree with Megan, you’re going to need more frames!

The Weatherby’s [Mini-Session]

Meet John, Shelley, Benjamin (3-1/2) and busy Ellen (16 months) who I met for a mini-session on another beautiful Boise day. I have had the fun of getting to photograph so many adorable kids lately … and so many with blue eyes! Check out Ellen’s stunners, and Benjamin was such a sweet boy in every […]

If we’re blessed with a little boy, I want him to look JUST.LIKE.THIS.ONE.

The Olson’s + 2 [Mini-Session]

Last year I photographed Susan and her twin boys, Greg and James, and when I first saw the boys I thought they looked about the same size … until I looked back at last years, and holy moly, those boys have grown! Missing teeth (James), new teeth (Greg), and about three inches if not more […]

Oh Mary these are one of the best group pictures. The boys are so cute and handsome. Very nice pictures of the whole bunch.

The Carlson’s

I love the stories of where my clients hear about me since my business is word-of-mouth. While I didn’t know it for quite some time, Lisa is the niece of one of my best friends (Gloria) referred from her daughter-in-law. Small world, isn’t it? Once again I got three awesome kids to work with and […]

What a nice looking family.

LoraLee Carter - October 17, 2013 - 5:45 PM

What a beautiful family! I love your pictures of Mom and Dad together. They are fantastic!
I don’t always have a chance to comment on each group but I always have time to open them and enjoy your work. I meant to tell you last time that the pictures of the youth pastor’s Mom and Dad were absolutely gorgeous. They had to be thrilled with the pictures you took of them.
Love You,

Gloria - October 18, 2013 - 5:05 PM

Awesome pictures! Eric and Lisa… guys have done an amazing job with your family. The girls look adorable and sweet as ever. Andrew is such a handsome young man. These photos are priceless! Great job Mary! -Gloria

The Blacks [Family/Senior Combo]

Their name Black, and wearing black, I asked dad right off the bat … “are you here by force or …?” and before I could finish he chimed in “I’m a willing participant.” Awesome. ๐Ÿ™‚ I really had so much fun with this family — Bill, Kim, Capital High senior Michael, and Fairmont Jr. High […]

Mary that is a very nice looking family! Great pictures.

My G-Boys

Jayden just turned the BIG 18 months! One-and-a-half years … where did the time go?! He is still the happy smiley little guy he’s always been, now just with a spark of naughtiness behind that smile. He thinks every bit of correction is a big ol’ game as he continues to do what he wants […]

One lucky mama - October 14, 2013 - 2:12 PM

I have been so blessed with such handsome boys! The girls are already chasing them at the park…I don’t even want to start thinking about how soon it will be before they start calling…guess we have to go buy a house phone so I can tell those smitten girls that my boys are busy…24/7. Great pictures!!

Megan - October 15, 2013 - 11:21 AM

Quite certain I’ve got the cutest nephews in all the land!!! Killer kiss picture and MJ in that hat makes me want to swoon. โ™ฅ

The Priebe Bunch

Here’s the story … about a man named Priebe … who had a lovely wife and three children of his own. And then one day … his lovely parents … moved from Missouri to Boise I-da-ho. The Priebe Bunch, the Priebe Bunch … that’s the way they became the Priebe Bunch! This is the third […]

Cannon Beach 2013

Aw, Cannon Beach, you know I love you. There were seven of us all together — two from Gig Harbor, WA, and the other five of us from Boise that got to go this past weekend — all of us friends for many years. There were four Kathy’s, two Mary’s and a “just Linda”. (We […]

Linda J. - October 8, 2013 - 10:47 AM

It was, as always, so beautiful and memorable. What an amazing setting for bonding with six delightful friends (four Kathy’s, the two Mary’s)and just me. I feel blessed that God orchestrated our time there by providing amazing weather, once again, (one of these years God is going to give us some bad weather while we are there just to see if He can get our attention in the wind and rain as well as the sunshine), laughter (even while driving in the same circle over and over), tears, sharing our joys and fears, worshipping Him, eating good food, shopping, and putting our trials into the correct perspective. Thanks, Mary, for cataloguing our beautiful trip.

Megan - October 8, 2013 - 1:52 PM

I’m not a lover of cold oceans and breezes, but seeing all the gorgeous pics of haystack and the fun little creatures on it during low tide make me want to revisit. Fun to see it all through your lens. So happy for the lovely group of friends you run with.

Mary Jones - October 8, 2013 - 4:33 PM

Hi Mary I was so surprised and happy to see you had already written your story at Cannon Beach. It was truly a delight to be with all of you. Time has made out friendships even stronger. Thanks for soooo many good memorizes and looking forward to next year. I hope we will stay in touch thru the year. Love to you and your family. Love Mary J

Kathie Bassick - October 8, 2013 - 6:20 PM

These are wonderful pictures, and great photography, you have a wonderful ability to catch the light and subject at the perfect time. Thank you so much for documenting our trip. It was fun in spite of my meltdown and pain thresh hold. I would love to have some copies of these photo’s when they are available.

Kathy G. - October 9, 2013 - 10:23 PM

Reading my email and discovering this tonight was the perfect way to end this day and just what I needed to see at this moment. Every one of these pictures captured more than what the eye can see, beyond the physical realm.

Kathy - October 15, 2013 - 9:28 PM

Lovely pics. Looks like I missed another good year.
