Ava Bird [Newborn]

Meet Ava, the pride and joy of Jim, Michelle, and the newest big sister, 7-year old Ryan. She was born October 23 at 4:35 PM, weighed 6.14 lb, was 20 inches long, and was 12 days old when I photographed her. Ava doesn’t have a middle name but in German, Ava means “Bird” so they call […]

Day 4: Shadow Play » - December 19, 2012 - 4:48 PM

MJ Turning 3 = One Fun Weekend!

It was the birthday weekend to remember for my first grandchild, MJ, who turned 3 on October 20! It went like this: Saturday the 20th: Linder Farms/Pumpkin Patch for our family. We went to Granny Angie’s house following the farm for yum-o chili, presents and cute fireman cupcakes (by Angie). Sunday the 21st: Breakfast in Horseshoe […]

LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM! Thank you so much! The ones of Mj in the corn field are so adorable, and the ones on the bridge just make me mad! If only we had given him the gum first…

Megan - November 8, 2012 - 4:12 PM

I don’t know where to start. Random thoughts:

MJ is the CUTEST 3 year old, (previously 2 year old) I think I have ever seen. I can’t get over that blond hair, gorgeous smile and big kind eyes. Seriously, even his pout face makes you want to smother him with kisses. (Which actually was one of my fav pics- the pout face on the bridge. Totally frame worthy!)

I see next years Fair winning picture in here- the one of the train that you see 3 box cars.

The tractor picture was my favorite ‘family’ picture. Killer striped dress, Dani.

Matt has an awesome “non smile” face…not too many people can do that well.

There is this one of a kind relationship between MJ and Syd that I witness in person, but when you see their sweetness together in pictures it melts my heart all over again. The smiles, hand holding and hugs kill me.

Once again, job well done, Mom. Thanks for documenting these years for us!

Your Man - November 8, 2012 - 6:01 PM

Wow, some of your best work yet. What a fantastic job. You have no doubt the cutest babes ever. Even our kids looked fantastic. Really I mean the family is totally awesome. Great parents and grandkids. Not to mention the photographer. Love ya.

Sheila Clark - November 9, 2012 - 8:36 AM

Great photos Mary! I love the one of the 2 boys on the bridge where MJ is pouty. So cute! What great memories you’ve captured with your camera. You definitely have a special gift!

Aubrey - November 9, 2012 - 2:41 PM

Wowee! What an incredibly good looking bunch of people! Beautiful memories from such a fun and rich time in your life. Loved all the outfit changes, too!

Roberta - November 9, 2012 - 10:11 PM

Mary, I agree with all the above comments, your photos always make me smile! So many darling ones to try to choose from, don’t know how one could even choose, so take them all! love the back drops you choose on so many of them! But you must admit that a photographer is only as good as their subjects….and you have some awesome ones here, and to thing they are your precious family!!!

Fairly Candid - November 15, 2012 - 2:52 PM

Thanks everybody! This post brought me such joy! I am so proud of it and grateful to God that he has given me such a passion for photography. My girls are so good at taking pictures of their families as well so I am happy about that. Still, it just brings me such joy to look at these little kids over and over knowing they will soon be big kids and wanting to be off doing their own thing more. Thank goodness for the age of digital books!

We LOVED this one! So, so sweet!

Fairly Candid - November 15, 2012 - 2:57 PM

Thank you everyone! I know the pumpkin idea has floated around so it was fun to do our own version. It was so fun all the way from going to the pumpkin patch to pick the perfect 44 and 45 pound pumkin to letting my kids carve the guts because there was no way I was going to! We had to transport all the other pumkins as well, but again, I just got to do the fun part of photographing my g-babes.

A Family with Grit

It was raining and they still came. True grit. 🙂 Okay, it wasn’t pouring, but it was cold and gloomy and I had to carry an umbrella to keep the sprinkles off my camera, but we had fun and I love this post of John and Amy, their 7-year old daughter, Ella — who is […]

Love the blue box. Want it in my house. Love the fun, girly outfits and the big smiles on those cuties. Now…what it would be like to “photograph children who stood where I asked, smiled when I asked” Dream on, Megan…

Danielle - November 6, 2012 - 10:57 PM

Love the old brown door and old house! Cute little girls! Like Megan said…I can’t wait until we can actually pose my kiddos and not say “if you sit still and smile I will give you candy!”

The Higgs Family

You’re going to love this color(fully dressed) and blessed family — Chris, Laura and their children Helaina and Indigo. The are great friends of my daughter and son-in-law, having met at Bradley Birthing Classes in Hawaii while pregnant with their first girls. They became instant fast friends with common interests and goals for raising their families. […]

Squeal!!! I’ve been waiting for these and I LOVE THEM!!! I didn’t think it was possible to miss the faces in these photos any more, but seeing them again and remembering the night made me. I love the mosaic one, the ones of C/L smooch/snuggling and the ones of Helaina and Indigo up close. Ok, really I love them all. We really need Disney to get a Boise project going.

Laura - November 4, 2012 - 8:46 PM

You have outdone yourself again! Sure I am biased but I LOVE them!
You captured everything perfectly (despite the weather!). I love that it felt and looks organic. Boise is blessed to have you (and your family too)! Thanks again for everything!

Aubrey - November 5, 2012 - 8:56 AM

Amazing colors in these. I love how it all came together, a joy to look at!

Tracey - November 5, 2012 - 9:00 AM

Way to go Mary! Those are GREAT! I love the wrinkled up nose face. Love the Pics.

Danielle - November 5, 2012 - 9:26 AM

Love the colors! You captured the perfect bench picture 🙂

Susan Higgs - November 12, 2012 - 9:54 AM

Mary, these are absolutely gorgeous pictures…….I love each and every one of them…..our two families look pretty good together! I know how excited Laura and Christopher were about the trip, and I’m so very glad you were able to capture these beautiful memories of ALL of them.

Fairly Candid - November 15, 2012 - 3:01 PM

It was freezing on this shoot and I had to edit a red nose out of every picture with Indigo in it, but I love the colors and the backdrops. They originally wanted the Old Penn and changed gears at the 11th hour, and I think that was a wise decision. I love the outcome. Only wish I could have spent more time with the Higgs in a warm place. Such a great family they are.
