Kelly and Jake [Engagement]

Congratulations to newly-engaged Kelly and Jake! I hope they know each other well enough — they’ve only dated seven short years. 🙂 Of course I wanted to know their engagement story (and you do too, right?) so first of all, Jake picked out the beautiful ring all on his own (nice job Jake!), and secondly he carried it […]

I am so proud of my son, the steps he took to make sure Kelly is the one. He has always been a very loving guy, inside that rough and rugged extreme person he shows… Looking forward to having a new daughter added to the family, she already is, but I guess the legal aspects of it anyway. The pictures are awesome and the photographer caught them in some really good poses… Happiness

Linda Smallwood - October 2, 2012 - 5:32 PM

Love the pics so happy for you!!!!!

Fairly Candid - October 2, 2012 - 8:26 PM

What wonderful comments. Sounds like Kelly has a very loving family to be a part of. The photographer appreciates it too! 🙂

Simon Armstrong - October 5, 2012 - 2:02 PM

These are some great pictures. Congratulations to you both.

Well done. I can feel the emotion. It has been great to watch you evolve.

I mean, you were always great but it seems like each shot becomes greater!

BSU vs BYU – A Family Rivalry?

Imagine my surprise when I get a call from Virginia asking me for a family photo session in Boise. (First off, thank you to Eedie’s dad for the referral.) Justin, who lives in Virginia came to Boise to watch the BSU vs BYU game with his siblings — some who either attended or support BSU and the other […]

Nathan [2013 Senior]

Nathan is a Columbia High Senior focused on all the right things … school, baseball, and computers. He stands 6’3″, plays pitcher and shortstop, and has a great serious look that I just loved. When I told him this, he said “I have to have a serious look … I’m a pitcher … it’s good […]

You hit the ball outta the park, Mom. (No pun intended…wink, wink) Love 1, 3 and 4 the best. Awesome serious look and I love all the random angles you use…I’m trying to pay more attention to that. 😉 Senior boys- add it to your awesomely-done list.

Fairly Candid - September 27, 2012 - 10:55 PM

Thanks Meg, I’m glad you said your favorites because I was so dang excited about that little red out building with the weeds. I knew when I took them that they would be some of my favorites. It was nice having a guy to shoot for a change too — and such a cool one. 🙂 Thanks for your sweet comments.

Becky Hamilton - October 2, 2012 - 12:02 PM

Great job, Mary. I enjoy seeing the different settings and poses you use. You have done a admirable job refining your skills. Keep the pictures coming.

Fairly Candid - October 2, 2012 - 8:24 PM

Thank you Becky. That really means a lot coming from you … I appreciate it very much. 🙂

Vern and Kathy Emerson - October 7, 2012 - 1:48 PM

awesome pictures of our Grandson Nathan. You our special to us.

danielle - October 16, 2012 - 1:41 PM

Great pictures!! I’m Nathan’s aunt and all these serious looks kind of cracked me up! I especially love the one you got with his mom (my sister) in it – made me a little teary-eyed.

Fairly Candid - October 16, 2012 - 1:47 PM

How funny. I liked the peek of mom’s face in the picture too. I would have taken some of them all together but I had them put to work! 🙂

Trent [2015 Senior] » - October 10, 2014 - 1:52 PM

[…] just as handsome, easy to work with, and as fun as his big brother Nathan who I got to photograph two-years ago. (Sorry Trent — I know what your fun competitive spirit wanted me to say.)Trent, and his […]

Sydney Reece

Sydney is my second silly g-babe and I find that I call her Sister Susie a lot, although I don’t really know why. She’s smart, rough and tumble, playground fearless, contemplative, and yes even a little sassy at times. Even her pouty stage can be endearing and it makes me laugh watching the invisible gears turn […]

Lucky Mama - September 27, 2012 - 8:01 AM

LOVE all the pics I haven’t yet seen, but loved the write up even more- you captured her personality, characteristics and quirks in words…and photos. ♥

Kathy G - September 27, 2012 - 11:42 PM

So cute it hurts. My other thought I have is how lucky this girl is to have photos of this quality to pass on to her own grandchildren some day.

Fairly Candid - September 27, 2012 - 11:51 PM

Thank you Kathy. I’m sure you’re taking lots of pictures of Marlies too as you babysit each week. Think of the albums these kids will have when they’re grown. Oh my!They won’t have space to put them. I hardly have space for mine now!

Linda J. - September 29, 2012 - 10:15 AM

You do so capture her adorable personality. I love a girl with single-minded determination–Sydney, you go gum!!!

“MJ” (Matthew Junior)

MJ is the oldest of my four grandkids turning the BIG 3 in just under a month. Waaaaa! I don’t want these kids to grow up yet! He’s so cute, and as smart as they come … so inquisitive about everything! He asks a billion questions that he seriously wants to know every answer to. […]

Lindaj - September 29, 2012 - 10:27 AM

You know, it is one thing to take beautiful pictures, which you do, but the “in the moment” descriptions of the things they say and do helps to captures the beauty of their little hearts and unique personalities. So amazingly well done Mary, I love your adventures with MJ, Jayden, Sydney and Simone. Gosh, I wish my grandkids had a grandma with such talent!!

Adi turns Two

Having never met one another, Adi’s mom, Amy, met me at my car with a cautious tale … “sorry, but Adi woke up kind of grumpy this morning.” I was expecting some whining out of her about not wanting to get out of the car, or wanting to hide on mom’s shirt tales once she […]

Love me a two year old! She has great style and a mama with some gorgeous long locks. What a fun shoot with great results.

Little Lily at 7 Months

This is Lily’s second photo session … her first was as an itty bitty newborn back in February. Now Lily is 7 months old and sporting her first new teeth — the two bottom ones that popped out just days before this session. My friend Gloria — and Gramma to Lily — watches her during […]

Mary……These pictures are adorable! I was so excited when I saw how they turned out. You captured Lily’s personality and so much more. I can’t thank you enough! I’m still giggling at some of them.

Megan - September 19, 2012 - 2:58 PM

That girl has a wardrobe as big as a department store!!! I love them all- what a cute little lady! I think one of my fav’s is the one of her and Grampa…such a natural smile on him, delighted to see his baby!

Aubrey Archuleta - September 19, 2012 - 5:39 PM

Mary, this looks like you had so much fun! What a cutie pie. I am so jealous of all this baby love in your life 🙂

Dawn - September 19, 2012 - 6:45 PM

Oh, Mary! These pictures are simply amazing. I knew my kid was adorable but I never would have imagined that someone could capture such spectacular pictures. Thank you so much for taking these photos, we will treasure them always. 🙂

Fairly Candid - September 19, 2012 - 9:10 PM

I thought you would love them because seriously … how could ANYONE not love this baby’s smile and personality … let alone her Gramm! 🙂

Fairly Candid - September 19, 2012 - 9:10 PM

I KNOW … I’m kind of surrounded by snuggly, chunky cuteness these days … and then to see one a little older like Lily was pretty darn fun!

Fairly Candid - September 19, 2012 - 9:12 PM

Dawn, I’m thrilled you love them. Your baby is more than adorable and she has such a wonderful temperament and is such a ham. I had so much fun taking her pictures. Such a cute sweet baby you and Derek have.

Some People Shoot with a Gun

Went to the park this morning for a photo session of a newly crowned two-year old, then met my g-girls at the playground — all those cutie-patooties and more coming to a blog near you soon! We went down by the river for a few minutes with my new big girl lens (f/2.8 70-200) and […]

Ava’s Temporary Home [Maternity]

I don’t know how else to say it except that I love this family! This is the 3rd time I’ve had the privilege of photographing them the past two years, and this time is extra special. You see Jim and Michelle weren’t planning on having children, but sometimes things happen in our lives that make […]

Michelle Britain - September 12, 2012 - 11:32 AM

Mary, to say that you are an amazing photographer would be an understatment! Thank you for always capturing the amazing moments in our lives. Love ya and can’t wait for you to meet baby Ava!

Fairly Candid - September 13, 2012 - 10:26 AM

Thank you Michelle (Cody and Sheila) for your comments. It takes both sides of the camera to make things work, and you know how to make a camera sing, Michelle. 🙂
