Memorial Day

On Saturday we went to the cemetery as we do each year. Even though we were there a day early it was already decorated as usual with all the big and small flags — striking in every way. I learned something new this year when my mom shared that the military used to contact my […]

Deanna Silvers - May 31, 2011 - 5:53 AM

These photos brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for sharing them.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - May 31, 2011 - 6:52 AM

I had a moment or two like that myself while taking them.

Aubrey Archuleta - May 31, 2011 - 7:56 AM

Beautiful, love the one of the black boots, especially.

The Things Kids Say

I was feeling blue Sunday afternoon, kind of down and in a funk. That changed. We had our son’s family coming for dinner but before they arrived I was standing out front talking with a neighbor from down the street when they got a text from their 14-year old daughter (meant for their 14-year old daughter’s […]

Linda - May 23, 2011 - 7:45 PM

This could get really confusing if I have to start calling YOU Guy too! I laughed and laughed–you just never know how they come up with some of the cuteness they do. I was in kind of a funk today–until I heard that story and poof it is GONE! Grandchildren are magical like that.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - May 23, 2011 - 8:49 PM

Both of our grandkids have a way to make us smile and forget about the day. Love them both.

Megan - May 23, 2011 - 8:57 PM

How sweet- and I cannot get over what a dainty, neat, slow, sweet little eater MJ is…you said it right when you said all business…

Glad your funk is gone!!! 🙂

Shayna - May 23, 2011 - 9:23 PM

Love it!

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - May 24, 2011 - 5:59 AM

With all your grandchildren, how could you ever be in a funk? You know the funny thing is it’s not like I don’t try to get him to say Gramma. I do. “Say “Graaaa. Say Graaaa. Say Graaammma. Can you say that?” “Yah … Guy.”

Aubrey Archuleta - May 24, 2011 - 10:15 AM

Love this, all these sweet moments captured. I wish they could stay small too, until our older boys were baptized, then I was glad they were grown up to chose that. But, that’s good! They can just stay 11, 9, & 6 now! And Collin, well even if he is 7 feet tall, he will just always be the baby 😀

Life with Kaishon - May 24, 2011 - 2:28 PM

I am so glad they came over : ) and got you out of your funk! My baby is going thru all sorts of craziness right now. I can’t handle it. I was hoping puberty would be a breeze!

Katie’s Bridal Shower

Our nephew Jacob is getting married to Katie in July. This past February I took some portraits of them and shared their love story (that you can read about here). With the wedding creeping up, it was “Shower Time!” The party was hosted by the Moulin gals and was great fun with few games, lots […]

Glenns Ferry, Idaho

Our second camping trip of the year … ahhhh, I love camping. My hubs organizes the trip every May for our friends, this being our fourth — two at the Carmella RV Park and the last two years at Three Island Crossing. This year there were 12 of us. If you are looking to get […]

Great pictures Mary. I love how you work with the colors – and I loved the flower cart and how you overexposed it but kept the cart in full color! You will have to teach me some of your tricks on the computer!

Your Man - May 17, 2011 - 6:27 PM

I just love seeing all of our friends having a great time, That’s what’s it’s all about. Love ya all Mikey !

Linda - May 17, 2011 - 8:14 PM

I guess I don’t know why I’m always surprised by the beauty of your photos (except for the ones you have to take with me in them–sorry I’m such a poor subject). Beautiful memories–thanks for photographic chronicle of our time together.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - May 17, 2011 - 8:26 PM

You guys always lift me up with your comments. I am “trying” to stretch myself this last year and am feeling good about some of the payoffs. Yeh! As for you Linda – whatever!!! It was me and my shaky hand that left your photo behind. Kathy J. you can come over anytime you want for some “basic” computer editing lessons because I have much to learn about PhotoShop myself. It’s all a process.

Laura Higgs - May 18, 2011 - 6:14 PM

You should be entering your photos in contests if you are not already!

Diane - May 23, 2011 - 4:07 PM

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - May 24, 2011 - 8:37 AM

Thank you Julie! I had so many pictures from that weekend and I appreciated you sharing which was your favorite. Sorry I missed saying goodbye … seems to be a pattern with me lately. We enjoyed your company and wish all good things for your daughter’s upcoming wedding.

Today is a good day. Smile. Mary

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - May 24, 2011 - 8:44 AM

I may have to get in on the golf game next year since I hear too much fun associated with it … or is it with the people who play it? Yea, that’s probably it.

Today is a good day. Smile. Mary

Do They Get Along?

I have lots of people ask me if the babies get along. We came home from camping today and met up with the family for Danielle’s birthday dinner. This is MJ and Sydney’s immediate greeting to one another outside the restaurant. What do you think? Do they get along?

I love my grandbabies.

Sheila Clark - May 16, 2011 - 7:46 AM

That is sweet! It looks like they’re the exact same heighth. Wow!

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - May 16, 2011 - 10:23 AM

I think Sydney has a bit of height over MJ. She is 10 weeks younger and much lighter!

Aubrey Archuleta - May 17, 2011 - 12:26 PM

Awe! Of course they do! What a silly question 😀

Sydney Reece and Co.

Megan, Robby, and 16 month old Sydney have been home for five weeks now and it has been crazy good! We have made up for lost time by doing lots of things together. Of course I usually have my camera in tow (except for this week when I got two big and two little visitors […]

Oh my sweet heavens. How can my heart melt so many times? I want to go wake her up just so I can squeeze that little cutie! I have been wondering where all those (amazing) pictures that I knew you took were…and here they are!!! Thank you! The one of you and her on the swings is perfect- your Grandma smile in that picture is priceless.

Btw- the watermark on the pics looks good!

Laura Higgs - May 13, 2011 - 12:05 AM

Love the pictures. Between Megan and your site, I am watching close from a far.
Your picture taking quality is extremely professional. Keep up the great work.

Your Man - May 15, 2011 - 2:58 PM

What a beautiful granddaughter I have. Not to mention wife and daughter. Yea , bet you were in my shoes.

Miss Ella and the Boys

Ella is almost 7 months with big dark blue eyes and two cousins that think she’s pretty cool. I took family portraits last November when Ella was just a couple months old and was privileged to be asked to take hers again now. She was the focus and her cousins would join her for some Easter-outfit […]

Bye Bye Birdie

Last week I saw Bye Bye Birdie at the Morrison Center for Music Week, then you might recall that Mylah called my five baby chicks “Birdie” in the post called More Chicky Love. Well, birdies went bye-bye today. A nice couple with several acres and lots of chickens (who have a really nice neighbor that told me about […]

Linda - May 3, 2011 - 10:35 PM

Well of course Mikey is looking forward to next year–he is probably already planning to put the stuff in the shed on his side of the garage! You know he loved those chickys.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - May 4, 2011 - 6:19 AM

I am thinking the same thing Linda. He is probably just waiting till next year when it will be a BIG EASTER SURPRISE like it was for him.

Laura Higgs - May 4, 2011 - 4:44 PM

Adorable. This story made me think that maybe when I was a kid, our family dog actually did go to “a farm.” :o)
I felt a sense you may upgrade to goats or llama next year…….

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - May 4, 2011 - 5:51 PM

Laura, you crack me up. Not sure my city covenants would go for the bigger animals, but put me on some acreage and I’m going for it!

botut - May 5, 2011 - 8:26 AM

Oh I love them! I am going to have Donnie build me a coop next year. He is thrilled (not).

Aubrey Archuleta - May 10, 2011 - 3:36 PM

Those pastel eggs! Beautiful. Maybe I will try my hand at chicks in Seattle?

Baby Ellie [Older Newborn]

Laura is a friend from work with whom I share several similarities. One of those similarities is that we each have an older daughter and younger son … very close in ages. Her first grandchild (a boy) is one month older than my first grandchild (a boy). Her second grandchild is a girl and mine […]

Love these, she is so sweet & tiny & love the naked shots. You are so great at capturing little moments we would otherwise lose sight of.

Laura Higgs - May 3, 2011 - 4:46 PM

precious!!! I think you did a fantastic job. I love the 2nd picture most. You can see the expression of love on Laura’s face and the light is perfect.

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - May 3, 2011 - 10:00 PM

Thank you Laura (a different Laura folks)! I loved the ones with Laura too – they were definitely my favorite and if I ever do this again, I will definitely know how to do some shots better or different … I hope. It was hard!

FairlyCandid.wordpress.com - May 3, 2011 - 10:02 PM
